15 Singstar songs and US release date unveiled

The Singstar franchise may not be as popular over in America as it is in Europe, but we're fairly certain the PS3 version of the game is a highly anticipated title for lots of people worldwide. IGN have confirmed that the US release will be on November 13th and will ship with 30 songs on the disc, with plenty more available to download on day one. The European release is set, according to a couple of e-tailers, for the end of this month. Expect this to be pushed back to September, at least.
Half of the tracks that will come on the disc (only 30? we're sure a Blu-Ray disc can hold far more than that) are listed below. It's a good list. You want us to pick a favourite? Oh go on then. Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Blatantly.

I want to know who voted for Britney Spears. I know of a lot better singers and she gets picked. Plus I hope when SingStar ships you get to pick five free or more songs off of the SS store that you want. This way there will be songs you could see your self singing too over ones that are just a waste of space.

UK got The Stone Roses. Americans should get the same. I mean it's a shame if they are going to exclude the best song in the game just because no one here in America has ever heard of it.

The line up seems very weak to me, and just 30 songs is a rip off....I'll be passing on this title for sure.

Only including 30 songs may sound like a ripoff, but the reason they do so is because the main feature is the online community where you can buy the individual songs that you like. Yes, they could fit a lot more than 30 songs on the disc, but then the disc itself would be more expensive. This way, they let you spend that extra money on the songs that you can pick out yourself.

Boogie is such a ripoff of Singstar. Sony should sue EA lol!

Joe, that's a great idea. I tend to look at things from a business perspective, and aside from the consumer benefits you brought up, it'll get people into the notion of using the store and purchasing songs online. Similar to giving away free iTunes song downloads on bottlecaps, giving away a couple free songs from the SingStore will be incredible marketing.
Looks forward (or not) to seeing me sing So Sick on your HDTV soon.

They sent out a survey yesterday and there were around 60 songs to choose from and they forced you to pick 30, i only liked around 8

If Bob Dylan sang his one of his songs on Singstar would he get a score of zero?
I like the pick 5 songs deal, that way you can pick songs you like.
Is this theoretically possible?
Where you can upload your own songs from CD's to Singstar. I think they could make a program that takes the vocals away and just gives you the rest of the song. That way you could sing the song karaoke style and get a grade at the end. It would be tricky to do but it could be possible right?

I think they only included 30 songs for two reasons.
1. Chris' Reason (#4) - Main feature is online community
2. Licensing fees

Any game featuring Britney Spears gets a pass from me - besides, I don't even like all these songs - I was looking forward to this, but now I'll pass.

PS3 version? why did they say like its going multiplatform?
Consolcwby @ Aug 6th 2007 2:42AM
@MYPS3KilledMy360: No... this is a PS3 game. Singstar began on the PS2 and is continueing (sic) on the PS3. I hear it's Eyetoy enabled, so you can make vids of yourself while singing... good for a laugh if you're drunk, I guess. (That's why it's so popular in Europe me thinks!) =D
