European PSN updates for August 9th

The PSN itself hasn't been updated yet, but we've got a pretty good idea of what to expect later today thanks to ThreeSpeech. Check below for the full list.

Heavenly Sword Legend of the Sword video (free)

Sony, Sony, Sony. What happened? Things were going so well. Where's Piyotama? Whether we actually want it or not is besides the point. Where's Blast Factor Advanced Research? Where are our demos? Ratchet and Clank and Lair have been got finished demos ready to go, so where are they? Maybe we'll see one of them on the American store today, but even so Europeans are getting fed up of getting the short straw every week. And rightly so.

How underwhelming. Where's Stranglehold? I know why I bought a PS3 over a 360 and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but the way that Live is mopping the floor with PSN is getting ridiculous.

Legend of the Sword sounds like the GAP-exclusive video Sony has released (The one that got posted here earlier). I might be wrong though, but I hope that's it.

I don't care about any of that stuff. I'm in the US so hopefully we'll have a better lineup. There's only one thing I'm really looking for, though...

I was under the impression that there was no such demo ready to go for Lair. I was under the impression that they wouldn't even start work on a demo until the retail game was finished. Have you proof of a demo?

More DEMOs please, as another blogger stated, Stranglehold is a fun demo on the X360. I am waiting to play the PS3 version to decide on which system.

The dearth of content on the PS store is really wearing thin. They should at least put movie trailers (for old and new movies) up DAILY. With Sony's library, they should have an assload of product to showcase.

Enough with the regimented Thursday updates. Look at the Japan store...they get updates WHEN THEY'RE AVAILABLE, not on a timer. Give us fresh content. If something new hits, give it to us while it's still new. The E3 presentations were a good start but there has got to be a ton of content from E3 they never released.

Hey now, EU got The Darkness demo before USA. I had to create a login specifically so I could download it. Quit with your gripin. Although, the lack of demos is getting rather annoying.

Wow, sucks to be American, having had the system for months longer than Europe the fact that it took ONE demo that EU PSN had before the others for you to create an account for it, the fact that every EU PS3 owner has probably got a US PSN account and that pretty much everything is released on there way before someone gets round to adding it to the EU PSN really is unfair on you yanks!

Anyway, since when was this a 'US gets everything' story? Its about the lack of content on the EU store and people saying that in general the volume of content on *ALL* PSN stores is quite poor considering the holding that Sony has in the entertainment market, They have a huge library of music and video which they could promote, random video trailers that 99% of Video Game trailer type sites have on offer, and PSN gets maybe 5 offerings a week which should be more like 5 per day, doesnt have to be full on demos or full games, just content as it becomes available.

I think the major difficulty is the "free network". They know they will be so flooded if they have all those things that Live does and it will cost a lot of money. live charges like 8$ a month and with couple of million reg users thats ~20 or so million per month for live/revenue. PSN doesn't have that and making a demo and have people download it is more costly than Live since the registration fees covers it. I am hoping for sony's sake they get the music/movie downloading store started so another source of revenue can come in and perhaps they then could get more servers whatnot to offset it. That or they are just lazy this update :p

@shase, that kinda makes sense.you really get the bang for your "free" multiplayer buck, but when it comes to the actual network you then see why it's free.

with the water thin selection and the advent of Home i'm wondering how long PSN can be free.

Its good that people are registering their concerns over the PSN.
Its not just Europe but all the global stores that are much too sparse and people cannot understand why.
I have both HD consoles and I know that the PS3 is best. It is a beautiful piece of engineering I love everything about it from its stylish XMB with all its customization, its web browsing, free online play, wallpapers, built in wireless, BD drive,mp3 player, photo management Just the feel of the thing- the list goes on. It is reliable, sturdy, quiet and is a sublime piece of technology.
This device just needs content. The games are coming, I love resistance and motorstorm and after sampling both demos of the darkness on both machines it is the PS3 version I like best - the colours are just so much better I also like playing on a PS3 it just "feels better" to play on such a beautiful piece of technology with gorgeous presentation as opposed to the old fashioned clunky looking and unreliable,noisy badly engineered rushed out 360.
We are relying on Sony to give us goods for download on PSN. I resent buying anything from microsoft the company that charges for "themes" and charges 800 "points" for solitaire and tries to disguise the cost of things by calling money "points"! lol... but i am ready and waiting to fill my PS3 with stuff!!All the great ps1 games that sony should be offering in tandem with all the 3rd partys -everyone makes money from old rope! whats the problem -get communicating with konami namco etc and start offering us stuff to buy the PSN needs to be fixed and fast- this cant wait. The AAA disk based titles we know take time to produce and I am patient, but I cannot see or understand why the PSN is not bursting with content!- gaming content above all else (we can see movie trailers everywhere online). The PSN should be what supports PS3 in its early times- when AAA titles are in short supply- while the unreal engine issues are sorted out it is the PSN that should be keeping me happy! and making me too busy to write long winded rants on the internet!(sorry!) I want to buy things online on PSN and I am so often disappointed for example with this weeks euro releases that is just not right!.
For example get vib ribbon up, parappa, all that vast library just wasting away locked down in legal blah blah whatever issues - sort them out! get making money get your customers the choice of content that is what made Sony great Get it to us !! for gods sake!!!! (oh but beta test them first like you forgot to do with spyro2 and medievil!) lolz ps you still owe me £6.98!!!! i cant believe the PSN actually owes me money if you dont laugh you would cry! Get it sorted sony I LOVE YOU stop treating me mean it isnt making me keen- just a bit fed up !

Well with home and store coming in it will stay free imo. If home is anything like 2nd life and people go microtransaction crazy then it will generate revenue, same with the stores. It would be awesome for Tivo and PS3 to team up - use PS3 as dvr - Tivo gets new customers/subscriptions and another reason to get a ps3 on top (plus sony prob. take a cut off of that subscription).
