Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 runs at 60FPS with full AA

According to the dev, "Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps. Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we've done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I'm not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3."
It's awesome to see Infinity Ward pulling out all the stops and not picking the lazy way out like EA did with their sports games. Plus, they mention that the PS3 will be getting some special COD4 flavored love and that we'll hear about it soon. Hopefully it's something more than lame Sixaxis support, but at this point PS3 fans would be happy just to get a freaking demo or something ...

No way, I would rather buy a louzy EA games... On top of that, they will remove their online server next year so you have to buy the game every year... Much better choice.

That explains why alot of the footage seen has [] and X on them. I am pretty sure the fetures will mainly be more online features. A lot of games do that. Then again it is an apology for delaying it so much because there are only 5 million ps3s out there. Only 5 million wow that is so small. I heard them talking about how much about the 60 fps no matter what so i would not be suprised if everything has 60fps. The ps3 can do all the texturing and stuff. It can do it better but harder to do so all these lazy companys just tune it down.

It means that they haven't used screen shots or movies from the 360 version and said it was for the PS3 version. It is a deceptive practice among some developers.

@8 - He means that the footage shown of the PS3 version of the game is the actual footage from the PS3 version. xbots have been spreading rumors that the PS3 game footage was 360 footage and not actual PS3 footage.
In other words when the devs say this is PS3 footage, it really is.

Do want me to explain it to you? The issue isn't that the 360 and PS3 version are equal. It that the XBOTS like yourself have been going on about how the PS3 version will be inferior to the 360; i.e. can't do 60fps and AA.
May I also remind you that we're talking about a 3rd party company, not a 1st party (who has already proven that 60fps and 1080p is possible on the PS3: NGS and Sony's own games).
So, not only has the dev for Infinity Ward proven these PS3-haters wrong. But also called PS3-haters "crack heads!" LOL!

It doesn't utilize the systems potential. It's a good xbox360 port, unlike Madden which is a bad Xbox360 port. I don't understand how this "equals = PWNED!".
Somehow its a victory that a more powerful system can finally equal the performance of a less powerful system.

I'm happy to hear that developers aren't taking the weak route out. Certainly good to see more and more third party developers fully supporting the console. I wonder if the extra capacity of the blu ray disc will allow for bonus material.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is native 720p and just upscaled to whatever resolution you have your PS3 set to.
Notice how none of the 1080p games have had outstanding graphics, texture quality is just as important as resolution and because of the two separate banks of memory and heavy OS using quality textures is more of an issue than on Xbox360.

I'll still preorder this, but wait on the reviews for all future 3rd party games. Rainbow Six is pretty good but not as good as the 360. I just don't want to support companies that put out crappy ports.
Madden...I can't believe I paid 60 bucks for that crap. It's kind of sad in a way, I've owned every Madden made for the Playstation consoles. Although I remember not being a big fan of the first version of Madden on PS2.

the blu ray drive...only 2x speed(9Mbps)...you can get a sony bluray disc player for $480 with a 12x speed(54Mbps) drive.

You have a valid point, some PS3 devs are now able to match the Xbox360 whilst other devs either haven't the skill or can't be asked. If it's the later then this situation will change pretty urgently as it's becoming that other devs ARE making the effort.
All in all this is good news, the promise and suggestions that the difficult to code for PS3 will be tamed has started, this knowledge will be transferred back to Sony and other devs and so the cycle will continue with the next phase of code surpassing this phase and so on. A year from now, all games will be Xbox360 standard with one or two surpassing it. Xbox360 devs will in turn strive to keep up with the PS3 and Us, the consumer will be the ones to benefit.
Long Live Xbox360 & PS3, rivalry is good for us all.

1st off thanks for your comments.
I don't mind rivalry...as long as the competition is respectable. And sony to me is the least respectable of all the console makers.
However thats besides the point. The main reason I responded to the thread was not to flame or troll. It was just the sheer ridiculousness of some of the posts I saw. I mean the way some of these sony fanboys act you'd think that MS and the 360 fanboys had been talking about COD4 being better for the 360 than the ps3. And thats NOT the case. I've hardly heard anything in regards to which version will be better. I myself think the game will look basically the same for both systems.
So I just didn't see the need or the reason behind the cheering or even the attitude that so obviously shines thru the article itself.
Its one thing to report good news. Its another to attack another company simply because they didn't do something you wanted.
EA is not owned by sony. Nor is it owned by sony fanboys or ps3 owners. Therefore EA has every right to make its OWN decisions. And the 360 and the Wii are clearly winning the race this generation of gaming. With that in mind EA has every MOTIVE and RIGHT to focus on those two systems IF they want to. The ps3 with its small base (compared to the other systems) is NOT worth the trouble. And the simple fact is that EA probably had trouble developing the game to begin with on the ps3 due to the complexity of the machine. And perhaps time was a factor as well. As opposed to COD4, Madden probably didn't have as much time to get done.
But that aside its good for ps3 owners that they have a game in 60 fps. However why they think us 360 fanboys would care when we're getting the SAME thing is beyond me. Its not like COD4 is going to change the tide of the console wars...

On a more personal note even if I didn't have a 360 and was still just a wiifanboy I'd buy the 360 version just cuz of Live. The online experience on the xbox is just worth it IMO.
It just seems hilarious to me how the sony fanboys are frothing at the mouth and so desperate to pick a fight with 360 fanboys because their system has one game running on the SAME level as the 360.

AA does make a difference and you'd be blind to not notice the lack of it in many PS3 titles.
A ton of console games are avoiding HDR use due to hardware constraints.
When HDR is used right it looks great but when it's used poorly you end up with a glossy and unrealistic looking world like Oblivion for PC with HDR enabled.

First off I've got a Wii and 360. I've bought games for both systems. Plenty enough for me.
2nd if you measure people's worth by how many games they have thats quite pathetic.
Last but not least I WILL be playing these games. Since I just bought a 360 I thought it wouuld be best to SAVE MY MONEY for the FUTURE TITLES coming out this fall and winter. I think it would be a waste to spend that money on old games that I can just rent. Is that so hard a concept to understand?
Perhaps instead of insulting people you should THINK.

Since it is on both systems, I will buy it for the 360. At this point, the only games I will buy for PS3 are the ones that I can't get on 360. Why is that? Because for the most part, the games always seem to look better on 360? Is it because I can ramp up my gamerscore? Or is it because everyone I know and their brothers own 360's, and that way I can play with them or against them online? Nope, none of these. I just hate the G#@ Da#&@d Playstation Controllers. Hated them since PS1, hated them even more with PS2, and continue to hate them on PS3. You can argue all day long over which system is better, but the 360 controller is hands down, far and away the best controller ever made. It's like having gaming heaven in your hands. The PS controllers are just too dinky for me. :P
