Moving from Christ to Lair: creating the music
The London and Royal Symphony Orchestras don't just work for anyone. Composer John Debney, who worked on films such as "Passion of the Christ" and "Sin City" was given almost unprecedented musical freedom when he was asked to score Lair. In a recent PlayStation.blog entry, he notes: "Creating new, original themes for this primal world has been one of the most stimulating experiences of my career, something I will look back on and cherish. The overall tone of the work can best be described as operatic, ethnically rich, lyrical, elegant and, at the same time, tragic." The musical landscape looks to be quite complex!
And he also offers a sample [Download MP3] of one of the tracks from the game. In typical Factor 5 fashion, it is incredibly epic. No, it's not from some big-budget movie ... this will be coming from your PS3 when the game comes out next month.

@JL. No... just one 'next'.
Besides its gone gold.
In any case, that song was absolutely and gorgeously amazing. Such an epic song! John Debney is truly an amazing composer. You listen to that again and again, and you find all these little things that just add so much to the song, and they're just SO brilliant.
So looking forward to shooting that my sound system =).

Fantastic to see game developers realize how important a musical score can be for a game. Even more fantastic that Factor 5 enlisted John Debney.

What I like most about both this game and Heavenly is how much effort has been put into each and every aspect of the game...whatever be the game ratings, 10/10 for commitment and thoroughness

I love the way they used the horns in the beginning at the 15 sec mark. Used some of that old school scary moview dissonance at the 1:23 mark. I just don't think you can have a good game without a great soundtrack.... I wish hat all games had a sound select option with a slideshow of the games art work, or just game content.

Thing is they've put an awful lot of effort into the gameplay for Heavenly Sword, with this game they've put the effort everywhere else.
Yes it all looks beautiful, epic lands, pulling on the reigns of a dragon, but on the demos i've watched, it gets boring quite quickly. Maybe they should put all that effort into gameplay first.
