Unreal Tournament 3 may possibly have more maps, thanks to Blu-ray

Rein wasn't quite finished there, however. He even thought ahead to Unreal Tournament 4, saying "If you think down the road, well maybe the next UT beyond this one, on Blu-ray disc, we might fill the whole damn disc with all the cool stuff the mod makers make." We'd be very excited to see that, really! So there's even more proof that not only is Blu-ray a handy asset, but it'll give us all more stuff down the line.

Cool. Finally Blu-Ray gets the attention it deserves.
gullum @ Aug 15th 2007 10:12AM
I think this is just the beginning. We are going to start to see more and more devs feeling cluastrophobia and going blu.
Though, from reading these boards, Xbox users won't really care about having to download the extra 40Gb since, according to them, BD is not needed this generation
ForceUnleashed @ Aug 15th 2007 10:18AM
As a 360 owner I am not ashamed to admit you're right about the whole DLC stuff. I wouldn't mind paying for the extra maps. But then again its a matter of how important MP is to each individual gamer and how many COME with the game already. If the 360 version has 20 maps and the ps3 has like say 22 I'm not gonna be pissed about it or feel like I'm lacking something crucial.
So no bluray is not need IMO. However I will admit that the next generation of consoles will all have the winning format's type of disc. Hopefully it will be HD DVD or something even better than bluray.
And Epic/Mark Rein can go to hell after the whole Gears on the PC thing...
I love how ps3fanboy is shameless plugging in bluray advertising in every week in any article that can be remotely connected to bluray though!
ToyAnvil @ Aug 15th 2007 10:30AM
I have both systems, plan on getting the PS3 version since it looks like it is going to have more to offer for sure (user mods, key board mouse, more maps). Only one thing would force me to go with the 360 version instead : If this title does 720p only with no 1080i scaling.
EDGE @ Aug 15th 2007 10:31AM
ForceUnleashed, why so bitter ? Give but cant take ?
ForceUnleashed @ Aug 15th 2007 10:39AM
Bitter? I'm just bitter about the Gears fiasco...other than that I'm fine.
Anyways later. This article just amused me. It just seems like sony and its fanboys are losing their minds going over things like PGR4 weather effects and now UT's maps in an attempt to justify their beloved high priced yet extremely low value machine.
Thats All. Back to Joystiq now.
NerdVernacular @ Aug 15th 2007 10:53AM
I'm wondering why Unreal Tournament III has been available for preorder on Amazon for the 360 and PC for quite some time, yet the PS3 version has yet to show up?
Travis @ Aug 15th 2007 10:54AM
The quote from Mark Rein is:
"we may have fewer maps on the 360 version"
Yet the title to this article is
"will have more maps"
Do you see the distinction between the two, Nick?
You also haven't corrected your story about the Fatal Inertia demo being on PSN today. Do you just hate your job and could care less about accuracy?

ForceUnleashed you are an idiot and personally i think you need to grow up!! What gets me most about all this is when the 360 does something better than the ps3 you fanboys dont stop rubbing it it to the sony fanboys but when the ps3 does something better you can always rely on people like you to be there to put it down!! At the end of the day the 360 fanboys were wrong for sayin blu ray isnt needed, but now more and more developers want more space for the games because the dont think dvd9 is big enough!!! It amuses me that people like you cant admit that you were wrong and just realise that both machines have there advantages but instead you continue to try and justify the argument still!! As for you being pissed at mark rein because of the extras on gears on pc, if you had any knowledge, you would have known that gears on the pc runs on a more updated unreal engine therefore the extras will not run on the older engine on the 360! this has been stated by mark rein himself!!! So judging by your comments about gears on pc it seems to me that you never want the unreal engine to be improved so that we can all play better games?? you are an idiot pure and simple and just so you know before i get told the shit that i usually read like "he must be on sonys payroll" (LMAO this comment always makes me laugh) i only own a 360 and personally people like you make us 360 owners ashamed!! Just grow up!!!
On topic: i for one am glad to see sony finally get some recognition! i plan on buying a ps3 this christmas!!! i just can't wait to play haze and unreal this year aswel as killzone 2(which looks awsome) next year along with MGS4!!!
ndoerr @ Aug 15th 2007 11:29AM

I just love it when people can be so one sided and never give credit when credit is due!! Look Sony made a sweet and dangerous move going with Blu-Ray and it's starting to pay off! Face it!! Blu-Ray is better for devs it doesn't limit them like DVD9's and now Microsoft is going to have to figure something out! I own both systems because I view myself as a GAMER not a fanboy! So you can go ahead and keep "troll'n" it actually entertains me!! LoL

im not even sure that the 360 will get 20 maps because of MS. I thingk Gears of war could of been better if they released it a couple months later and maybe compared to the PC it wouldnt look so small and the frames per second and textures up close would of been better but the 360 needed a game to sell the console during the Holiday season. Even if you could fit all the maps on one DVD9 MS would of said no and soled it as a map pack later. judging by how most 360 owners feel that dont really care even when MS is bending the over and..........O yeah 3 warrenty take that sony. What? so you meen all 360s have problems. Halo 3, Bio SHock and Mass Effect is so sweet!!!360 FTW. Ummm? doesnt one of them release for the PC because my PC is pretty sweet and how do you play those sweet games if your system is in a coffin. i cant deal with the downtime i rather wait for the rebuilt sytems to get another one.
@20 Epic, ID, RockStar. idk man quality devs over quantity.

The more I see unforclosed, the more I don't want an xbox360. Microsoft used to be hero, a kind of noble corporation in my eyes. Now, by association with compromised people like unforclosed, Microsoft appears unethical and evil. It used to be supurman. Now, it's an evil villain.
In a car race, if unforclosed really believes that his car is faster and prettier, then why does he come over to our side and try to slash our tires and scratch our paint job right before the race starts? Why not play fair? Why must he behave in such an unsportman-like behavior? Why put yourself at risk of being caught and banned from the race from conducing such unsportsman-like behavior if you truly feel you can win fairly? Why? Because he isn't qualified to win, and he knows it. Yet he wants to win, which, when racing against a PS3, would mean that he'll bypass ethics and morality. Remember Nancy Karrogen and the other hopeful olympic ice-skater? Remember how one of them bashed the knees of her competitor's skater with a club? Well, I can assure you that the one who felt she didn't have the ability to win fair and square is the one who did the clubing, not the one who knew in her heart that she had what it takes to win. In this case, unforclosed has shown the greatest sin of mankind of all, a lack of both - character and aptitude.
I've always seen this in most xboxers and I'll say it again here. They almost always fall under four categories:
1) xboxers have low grade-point averages
2) xboxers have low-income
3) xboxers are either underaged and don't know any better or received their toy as a gift
4) xboxters are patriotic and if they can't win by competence, as in this case, they'll compromise their character and mouth what unforclosed mouths in this room. This is truth justice and the american way, huh, unforclosed? Do us a favor and stop representing America and Microsoft and go back to the neighborhood you belong in. Harvard won't accept you. Beverly Hills won't have you. And we don't want you associating with your kids, schools, or community either. You're lucky Microsoft accepted you. And now you tarnish their once noble reputation into something resembling a cross of the Jerry Springer crowd and prison inmmates or Nazi and middle east terrorists. Do America a favor the hide yourself. I own shares of stock in Micrsoft, so I do care.
When HD-DVD finally hits the dust, you will be left with an outdated and malfunctioning gaming toy with one dongle connecting a low-fidelity HD-DVD player at the other end with no movies to play with, and forced to buy a stand-alone bluray player if you're ever going to watch any hi-def movies. With your brilliance, over a lifetime, you've collected three ugly separate components which makes it hard for you to do the math and see that those three together are pretty expensive and ulgy looking in our entertainment center -- if you even have any room for them. Not to mention at least an extra $100-$300 in internet xbox live fees by that time. Goodness, with that much internet fees, you can run out and buy another xbox360 to decorate your -- er, home with.
This guy still thinks that HD-DVD has a chance, despite Target, Blockbuster, and all other major retailers now standing by Blu-ray. You can see clearly that he fits nicely in one of the categories I mentioned above. He either cannot do the math correctly or is just blindly patriotic. But in either case, he cannot be smart AND ethical at the same time. It's an either or situation.
And by the way, only 40% or so PS3 owners claim that they know that their PS3 systems can play bluray disc, but do xbox's know that their system plays DVD? From their talk about 720p and 1080p,i through component and now HDMI (not even HDMI 1.3 with a wider color space), I'm beginning to think that they really believe that DVD is hi-definition. But, as I've mentioned many times before, since when is DVD hi-definition? I thought that HD-DVD and Bluray are hi-def, right? Shows you that, again, xboxers fall under at least one of the categories I mentioned above. In this case, guess which category they fall under if they think that DVD is hi-def. Might as well just keep your old upscaling DVD player and forget about HD-DVD and Bluray then, right?
I'd like to point out that xbox doesn't have any quality games but is a minefield or a heapfield of junk. After 3 + 1/2 years in existence, it muster up perhaps millions and millions of games. A tide of games, really. And yet E3 gave xbox360 only 11 games an award?? =That suggest to me that the xbox is poor in BOTH -- the quality of their games and the quality of their hardware. Why? Because 11 games out of millions of games over a three year lifespan sucks. In addition, an announcement of a design flaw in the 360 just pretty much sums up the quality of the system.
Now, in constrast with the 360 above, how long has the PS3 been out? Less than a year. How many PS3 specific and not PS2 and PS1 games are available? Just a handful. Now, how many games won awards from the same E3 show? 8...!!! The PS3 has been out the door and amount only a handful of games available, it already has 8. And of those eight, one received top honors for the best graphics and another received top honors for the most original game concept. Is this quality over quanity? Let's compared:
1) Micrsoft:
a) timespan - about three and half years
b) number of games availabe - millions
c) games receiving awards - 11
e) ratio - 11/1,000,000 = 00.0011% which means that almost all their games are crap, as considered by the E3 judges.
f) top honors for best graphics and originality in gams - 0. Yes, 0. As in nada. Zippo. NONE...!!! as in absolutely nonexistent. crickets chirping. You get the idea.
2) PS3:
a) timespan - only months / less than a year
b) number of games available (not PS2 and PS1) - only a handful, let's estimate at 50-100
c) number of games receiving awards - 8
e) ration = 8/100 = 8% of the games are good, as judged by the industry experts at E3. Not bad for a newborn, eh? Not bad for someone younger, eh?
f) top honors for best graphics and originality - 2 games
And price is really not even an issue. It's the quality that matters. Not only does the PS3 refuse to break down or disturb us with noises during movie playback or take up space in our entertainment center with unsightly bricks and two piece designs, it has bluray and dvd picture quality that rivals $1,000 Bluray and $1,000 high-end Denon DVD players. That's right you bright and intelligent xboxers telling us how to spend our money. Those high end bluray and DVD players bought separately as a standalone machine would total a whopping $2,000, you xbox360 remedial students who can't catch up with rest of class but because you're priority is in - playing games and not academics? How'd your last math test go, xboxers? 2+2 = 16, again, isn't it? But let's get back on track with the discussion...see the paragraph below...
BUT LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT PRICE...price isn't the issue between a 360 and PS3 because their qualities and features are way different. The 360, as shown above to be inferior in it's game selection and hardware build, is also inferior in it's movie playback, which is pretty much it's only real home entertainment feature aside from gaming. to make the story short, EGM says that the DVD and HD-DVD playback is among the worse (worse, worse) they've ever seen. Don't believe me? Check out EGM issue #212 / February 2007 on page number 35 for reference. So don't even try to compare prices when you're comparing a rotten lemon to a gorgeously volumptuous thanksgiving dinner. One has to cost more than the other. Strangely, xboxers, in this case, they'd cost the same, maybe only $20-$50 more or less. You do the math. 2+2 = 20 you say? Good, job. Go play more games and troll around PS3 websites and forget school, okay? They're about the same price. But EGM says one of them is among the worse in movie playback they've ever seen. And one has an ugly two piece design that won't fit in an entertainment center and is too loud to enjoy a movie with. Guess who'd buy that instead, using their brains to do the math?
So, for only $500-$600, you get a game system that does xbox360 games, does PS3 games, does PS2 games, does PS1 games, does high quality bluray, does high quality DVD, does CD, does SACD music, does Linux PC, does SD card, does Compact Flash cards, does memory sticks, does Wi-Fi, does Bluetooth, does USB keyboards and mouse, does MP3, does free internet, does folding, does webbrowsing, does value quietness, does have a one piece design with touch censors, does cell processors, does HDMI 1.3, does motion sensor controls, does allow user swappable harddrives, does home, does high quality games versus quanity of games....chip in if i missed anything. That's alot of value compared to
xbox360 does loud noises, does inconvenient power bricks, does inconvenient two piece design for one of the worse HD-DVD movie playback on earth, does have the lower level HDMI, does pretend to be Hi-defintion gaming using DVD, does have hardware issues, does have low quality rated games as shown by the number of E3 awards giving compared to the games available, does have PC processors, does plays only games and DVD and nothing else important, does attract low level buyers, does do secret handshakes and dirty business practices such as trolling to help itself with becasue it's okay to them to compromise ethics when they know they can't win fair and sqaure, DOES TRY TO LOOK MORE AND MORE LIKE THE PS3 WITH EACH NEW CONSOLE ITERATION - quiter, smaller chip, black design, larger harddrive, additional HDMI...is it me or is the xbox360 trying and beginning to look more and more like another console that we already know of?
Let me ask you again. Why is the xbox360 trying to look like the PS3 now with the new versions? Adds HDMI (not even HDMI1.3, That's for the elitiest version), paints itself black, tries to be cooler and quieter. But doesn't this look like the PS3 that you've been bashing???????? Doesn't it look like a console we already know of???
I arrest my case. There's more to say, but not enough time and space to mention anymore. Just look at the categories above and see which one the xbot troll falls into. It's likely to be at least one or the other...

The whole story highlights the difference bwteen SOny and Nintendo on one hand and MS on the other.
Basically both Sony and Nintendo are enginerring companies with a flair for making things, in case of Sony often not practical or what the market demands. In a way both wii and PS3 are fascinating pieces of technology.
While MS is good at targeting the average market demographic and of course much more business-savvy and cunning than Sony / Ninty. Producing a shoddy quality and basic console to create an impression of low price, and then price-gouging their customers like hell on evertything from multiplayer to hard discs, is such a MS thing.

The 360 will have been out for 2 years come this November -- not 3 1/2.
Why do people feel the need to lump people into categories? I have a 360 and don't fit into any of your 4 categories. I also own a PS3. Both systems are great and I enjoy both. Why not have the best of both worlds?

OOOO you got serverd. a lttle bit wierd at the begining but it was worth while reading now all we need is tech freak to explain why the PS3 is better and what is making devs say its almost limitless when it comes to power. im tired of hearing blu ray and HDMI i wont to get down to the core the cell and the RSX there abilities the reason for allowing the PS3 to use OpenGL2.0 is it better than directx9(PS3 uses it too) and is it equal to directx 10 im getting a lot of mixed reveiws. why did devs and other people say the PS3 cant AA and dont give me that stupid sheet comparing numbers of the RSX and the ATI half the people who post it dont understand it and some of the numbers on that spec are irrelevant the cell usually picks up the slack where the RSX lacks. the ball is in your court now 360fanboys.
MYPS3KilledMy360 @ Aug 15th 2007 1:30PM
@26 most devs have had there hand on the 360 for 3 1/2 years thats why. Sony devs are the only ones who have had there hand on the PS3 for a year. so when people compare video games with the 360 i just laugh because devs have no idea what there doing and still push out games that rival or a little bit less than the 360 version. Makes you start thinking how much more the PS3 has left to go in terms of power. PS3 did blow out the 360 in graphics when compared to release but people still say thats not fair comparing those games to the ones we have today.

I hear more people saying that they're going to sell their 360 or save up for a PS3 rather than the other way around. I never hear anyone saying that they bought a PS3 and would rather sell it for the 360. In fact, I bought two PS3's and will buy another one. Don't think the 360 is worth the price based on the negative reviews that the media has been hiding not as well as it tries to. 360 is overpriced for a thing that only plays games -- averagely.
Plus, I used to not care about console wars at all beacuse I tend to buy them all. But this time around, looking at the behavior of XBOTS, I'm never going to buy the 360, ever. I know what kind of person I am and will not want to belong to the wrong crowd. People all around are beginning to think about sellilng their 360 or a PS3.

Freeze @ Aug 15th 2007 2:51PM
I have to admit, even though I have an Xbox360, i think Microsoft was so stupid into not including an HD-DVD drive into the Xbox360. More capacity for developers to make their games which I have to applaud the PS3. Look, Blue Dragon takes up like 3 disc. If Blue Dragon was on the PS3, just 1. Microsoft made a stupid move by keeping the basic drive for their so-called next-gen system.
I have to applaud again for Sony for making the right decision into the Blu-Ray thing. Helping developers make longer games on a next-gen system. Bravo.
Wonderflex @ Aug 15th 2007 3:16PM
Here is how I see it:
LORD willing I won't ever own an Xbox. Ever. Most likely, not even if you paid me to take one (although if anybody has one and tossing a large amount of money around feel free to contact me). Why though?
It's not because I have a blind-love, but because I truly feel there is a lot of value to found in the PS3 that can't be fully found in an 360. So, here is an attempt at taking the highly offensive, although sort-true, post by, "the secret," and making it into an intelligent rant.
One of the first things that he (or she, but for the basis of this discussion I will use the masculine forms) touches on is the horrible lumping of Xbox users into groups. I would like to apologize for him, because I can not foresee him doing so himself.
Secondly begins to touch on the subject of Blu-ray compared to HD-DVD. For myself, and many PS3 owners, the inclusion of Blu-ray adds quite a bit of value, both in tangible, and intangible, ways. The ability to have straight out of the box what is being hailed as one of the best HD video players, using a format with the most capacity, is amazing. I love watching movies, as many Americans do, and to see films which have been shot in HD is one of the most enjoyable things to me. If my PS3 can provide this for me, without a separate purchase, or external drive, then how am I not to love it all the more?
In that intangible realm, I see the great value that Blu-ray provides with it’s amazing storage space. I may never stop and think, “Wow, I am so glad that there is so much room on these disks,” but just knowing that it is there when it may be needed in the future is a reassurance. It’s like the airbags in my car. I may never see them. I may never use them to their full capacity. But on that day when I do need them, I’ll be all the more thankful they are there. So, sure, maybe UT3 can fit on a standard DVD, but when UT4 comes out, and it can’t fit on a DVD…or even 5…it will be nice to have it all fit on 1 Blu-ray. This, coupled, with the ability to watch HD movies out of the box, are something the 360 simply can’t provide me.
Now many would argue that the value of the 360 doesn’t even lie in it’s ability to play videos, or the fact that you might have to swap disks in the future. They would say that it’s value is to be placed in it’s games. Looking back over the history Sony I have found that some of the most amazing games ever happen to be on the Playstations. From RPG’s to action games. From shooters to racers. There has always been a steady flow of great games.
Currently there aren’t as many games on the PS3, or the 360, as the Secret would like to claim, but his stats from E3 do speak volumes. Sure, there may only be a few good games out right now, but Sony has history; a history that I’m willing to bank on. The original Xbox was very limited in it’s great games – and in fact I would go far enough as to say that it’s sole purpose was to be used as a stand alone Halo box. This generation they have been doing better – much better, but I fully believe that they will hit a wall when games start to take a leap into the world of high textures, and they are forced to either compress, or go multi-disk. I don’t want to be on the truck when that happens.
And lastly we have the hardware value. When you buy a 360 you really do get a very high powered machine. You can’t deny that. But when you get a PS3 you get more much more than that, and rather you use all the feature or not now, there may come a day when you will. The Secret really did do a great list of benefits for owning a PS3 (Although a poor job with the 360 – what he did is like comparing your flexed bicep to an unflexed one). Have I swapped out my Harddrive? Not yet, but maybe I will want to one day. When I do, it will be cheap and easy (like a Wii?).
So, in a nutshell, the Secret had some good points, and may poorly crafted ones, but all in all, I think that nobody can say that the PS3 isn’t worth it’s cost, nor that it isn’t a finer machine. Does it have better games? Only time will tell.
Irwin @ Aug 15th 2007 4:05PM
HEY ps3 fanboy, how come you havn't yet deleted ForcedUnleashed's and the other dude's comment that was "pro" 360 and that was in no way offending anyone by calling ps3fanboys stupid names and saying that ps3fanboys are the stench of society, with no-trolling whatsoever?
pick up the pace.
i mean wow, like seriously, do u people need fucking leashes?
yea, its wonderfull UT will have extra maps thanks to blu-ray, no need for u idiots to go ape shit and start insulting 360 and the poeple that play it.
and why are most of my comments deleted? like the one under the other blu-ray story. that seriously was a joke, sony making u guys look like a bunch of dumbasses
im gonna go and play my cousin's ps3. thank god he isnt like u idiots
where are the wii fanboys anyway?
Wonderflex @ Aug 15th 2007 4:09PM
@41 - that may, or may not be the case. I'm not a developer, nor are the majority of those who post on this site. I know that there seems to be plenty of reasons why you wouldn't want to compress data at all. It's slowly becoming an HD world, and the less compression you have to do seems to be the path to take.
Now maybe in this case things could be compressed better, but then again, maybe, just maybe, they really can't without sacrificing detail. To me it seems like trying to fit a DVD on a floppy disk - sure, you could do it...but then again, what resolution would that be? Making things in 1080 isn't easy, and it does come at a high storage cost.
EDGE @ Aug 15th 2007 4:17PM
@Emerald
learn2read.
That wasnt even the argument, your lack of comprehension skills is disturbing.
While we are at it, whether you like it or not Blu-Ray > DVD9. Developers using Blu-Ray as storage are no longer confined, being compressed, or non-compressed media.
Hatchetforce @ Aug 15th 2007 4:17PM
Damn KSe, you know very little about game development. Ther isn't a developer out there building a title that isn't for the Wii that wouldn't love more disc space. Uncompressed audio? A no brainer.
What is interesting is joystiq, well known 360 proponent that always carries Mark Rein's comments hasn't picked up this or his official response on the Epic forums.
EDGE @ Aug 15th 2007 4:21PM
@Emerald, 7
You were blaming PS3 hardware for 30fps, so yeah, mass failage on your part. EA admitted that they have not had much time to develop for PS3, thus the weak ports.
EDGE @ Aug 15th 2007 4:23PM
Apologies for flooding.

sorry to go slightly off topic, but id like to take this opportunity to ask question about how far epic plan on going with the apparent modding capabilities. From what i gather, mods from the pc version of the game will be playable on the ps3 version. now id like to ask what is capable modding wise on the engine used for this game? For example am i right to assume it would be feasible to create lets say.... a full ww2 conversion of the game and have the ability to play it on the ps3?
On topic: i think its great that developers are no longer limited and are able to utilize the ability to create bigger environments, more environments, greater textures, higher poly models, uncompressed sound. Ok, all this may not be needed to create an enjoyable game, but when you can make an even more enjoyable game then why not? you are at no disadvantage at all with this technology other than the price which is justified in my opinion. I do not own an xbox 360 as i was waiting for the release of the ps3, but i must say i do also have a lot of respect and i do acknowledge some of the achievements microsoft have had with their system also.
cheers folks
ps3fanboy @ Aug 15th 2007 7:19PM
@ the secret, i think u need to start spreading ur truth in the xbox360fanboy forums. You are amusingly eloquent and make impressive arguments. You put into words what i've been thinking, without all the technical jargon. Now whenever I see your name at the end of a long post, i'm confident it's worth reading. I'll nickname you the magician. You're very good at making xbots disappear. They would cower back to their side. Rarely do they argue against your logic. Rather, they insult you for passionately using your ability to make a good argument. If all they have to say after a well thought out comment is "what the hell is wrong with you?" they should be completely ignored like the dust bunnies picnicking on my rrod'd 360. Maybe i'll give MS a call, since i didn't get mine as a gift. Why don't you post one of your informative messages into a 360 forum where they will have no where to run. You may even save a few. Maybe, in one of these post, you can comment on the fallacy of citing outdated, biased sources of which xbots cling to so dearly to justify their existence.
a message to those who own both a 360 and ps3, and are not 360fanboys: don't be stupid and feel offended by the secret's comments. being a 360 fanboy is one thing, but when did it become a bad thing to be a ps3fanboy, who appreciates a good quality product for a fairly reasonable price considering its quality. how does that make one "sad" and "pathetic" and "hopeless" and "Sony tools" as some xbox360fanboys would describe us when they're the ones in love with garbage (at least when compared to products that don't have a 1/3 failure rate, and built by a company that simultaneously insults and copies its competition, and poorly at that)?
If the secret were to be banned for posting his well written comments from 360fanboy, it would only be fair if our own moderators pick up the slack and start banning xbots IMHO. You can start with force unleashed. He and others like him really make it unenjoyable to go into this site.
Irwin @ Aug 15th 2007 7:51PM
@ps3fanboy
the deletion of comments is much more prominent here..
and i dont see all that nonsence u talk about on 360fanboy
meh
Nick7 @ Aug 15th 2007 9:37PM
I find it funny how the PS3 fanboys are all excited cus they finally have something that the 360 doesn't... but the fact is that this debate over whether the PS3 or 360 version is better, is pointless. This is because UT3 will be best on the PC, and there is no way you can deny that. Sure you can say that you need a super expensive/good computer to run it but those who have the requirements will have a much better time than someone playing either the 360 or PS3 version.
Joe @ Aug 15th 2007 9:52PM
@ irwin
what r u talking about?
why is deletion of comments more prominent here?
i'll assume it's the nonsense coming from 360fanboys that has been mentioned, which is exactly what u can see HERE, where it does NOT belong. As stated, u don't often see ps3fanboys trolling the good news forums on 360's site, trying to bring it down despite how much it deserves it. while we're not that insecure, we do get annoyed when they continuously infect our space with their stupidity.
meh.
some ppl think it's a matter of preference when it comes to consoles, and i agree it should be. unfortunately, as the secret has mentioned, it seems that character or a lack there of plays a major role, and the xbots do come off as the biggest douchebags. we usually insult their hardware, cause it is in fact repulsive and merits the scorn and lowers the standards. but they often would insult us for being "fooled" by sony as we try to "justify purchasing a $600 paperweight," completely disregarding its considerable quality. "greedy" Sony supposedly "tricked" or "forced" us into taking in bluray into our homes because they are pushing their format. If the format was garbage, that would be one thing. For example a certain company pushing VISTA in order to play their piece of shit halo 2 on the pc. I don't think i have to be tricked or forced into using a fridge to help food last longer, so why would i have to be tricked into using blu ray to watch the hd content that i WANT to watch without spending a grand. You think i bought a dvd player the first time it came out? FUCK NO. But did I buy a ps2 to play the new dvd format as well as games thinking it was a fucking awesome value?
one of the categories the secret mentioned that some xbots fall under is patriotic. And as most american corporations, if there's no money to profit in the short term, ambitious investments are not justified. xbots always say "we don't need it now. it's good enough." it's groups like these that voids ambition from patriotism. how long did it take for a company to invest fiber optic technology to people's homes in the US while it has become standard in other countries. what the US is ambitious about are weapons and as long as they got the biggest guns, it doesn't matter what technological feats other countries are achieving that actually improve the standard of living because if the US falls behind too much, they can easily nuke those countries back into the stone age, and boom, they're back at the top of the food chain. since it would be a waste to not have enemies to play their toys with, it's not surprising that they try to make enemies in the guise of evangelical and democratic pursuit. anyone heard of the bridge collapse in mississippi. Supposedly there are hundreds of bridges around the country that are in that same shitty condition or worse, but the most powerful nation is too lazy to do anything about it cause like the xbots say "it's good enough for now."
sad.
joeybwfc @ Aug 15th 2007 9:59PM
Nick7, i undrstand what you're saying, but the way i see it all the features that perhaps in the past have made pc versions of such games better are now obsolete. The ps3 version will have the ability to download maps, play mods, have keyboard and mouse support and there is even the possibility that epic could be including pc/ps3 crossplatform play. If it's frame rate you are refering to then in my opinion after around 45 you cant tell the difference anyway.
