Gearbox announces Borderlands: randomly generated FPS fun!

The game isn't due out until holiday season 2008, so we've got nothing else on the title for now, but we're sure we'll hear more sooner rather than later. We know the game will feature player customization, vehicles, and real-time physics ... the usual stuff. What's unusual is the randomly-generated missions that'll pop up. This presents almost endless possibilities each time you play. With 4 player co-op in the works, we know it'll be exciting to play with friends. We'll keep you posted as details emerge!

I really enjoy the BiA series and am looking forward to the next one. I was pissed when they delayed it just to push out GRAW2....but then again i will most likely be buying that for the online co-op

I'd rather see the maps be randomly generated, intellegently random, but random none the less. The biggest step after that is making good, random maps, and making them avaliable to all the players on a server... multiplayer, GOOD, constantly changing maps... Ok, you'd have to have standard buildings and such, but this could change FPS in a good way, were it done right.

Fully destructive environments will help the stagnant FPS genre along with randomly generated ones.
Personally I'd like to see scale implemented differently, it's usually fun to play a 3d game as a mouse or a giant and you rarely see FPS games do this. I think Half Life had some mods where you were tiny in a kitchen, some kind of plastic army guy mod.

For online, random maps would be great. That way you always get a new game and it provides a fair gameplay experience.
I hope they do it AoE 2 style. The random maps in those games were all I played.

Cool about the randomly generated missions things, but its nothing new, its been done before, and probably done better with Soldier of Fortune 2 on the PC. Randomly generated multiplayer maps even.
