Ratchet Week: Two new videos
You read about Ratchet's good looks. Now see it in action! See the Groovitron in action in this new video from the game. Then, see the SIXAXIS-controlled glider in the works.
After the cut, see what you've been waiting for: dancing pirate Ratchet. Yes! In order to get past this special door, Ratchet will have to bust a groove. Arg! Come back tomorrow when we'll have two more videos to share with you.

This game could be a system seller, who isn't drawn in the the Pixar like graphics and the charming characters?
Andy @ Aug 18th 2007 12:30PM
As someone who has never played a Ratchet and Clank game before what purpose do the nuts and bolts serve?
TacoAssassin @ Aug 18th 2007 12:34PM
The nuts and bolts are the monetary unit in the game. Some are worth more than others. There are also hidden bolts that help you unlock extras.
By the way, has anyone picked up the recent GameStop Guide, and noticed they're offering a "FREE DEMO With Reservation While Supplies Last" if you reserve a copy of the game? I haven't had the chance to go back or call to see what it's all about. Does anyone have any info on this?

The more I see of this game, the more it becomes a must have.
For only a second generation game, Insomniac sure seems to know how to get some muscle out of the PS3. Even with the crappy resolution of gamevideos, this game still looks amazing and appears to have a buttery smooth framerate, with very realistic animation.
DownwardMonkey @ Aug 18th 2007 2:49PM
This is a must have for me, Killzone 2 looks great but I'm getting so sick of FPS games.
Bandit @ Aug 18th 2007 3:19PM
Not me, after seeing the reviews for Bioshock I can't wait to see what it will look like on the PS3 (maybe some exclusive new levels?)! I can't remember when the release date was that OPM stated a while back, but it will be worth the wait! :)
Galley @ Aug 18th 2007 11:12PM
If only the videos played in Safari. :-(

I'm a 200% R&C fan, but this iteration doesn't look quite right to me. The controls look mighty sluggish compared to all the previous games.

the more i see the more i want!

Consolcwby @ Aug 19th 2007 10:25PM
@TNG 9000: Bandit is stuck in Bizarro World again, me thinks! O_o

It's nice. Adds variety to the collection. Spruce things up a little with this Saturyday morning cartoon. It's a good breathe of fresh air between Resistance Fall of Man and other serious or gritty games.

Don't fret. Bioshock is or most likely will be on a PC, which I'm sure you have and can upgrade if you want to. Gears of War is coming to the PC, too, I think. Good times, good times. Ratchet & Clanks looks excellent to me. I get the same feeling I get when I played Mega Man 2 during the NES days, and that's a good thing. A very good thing. We all should get this game.

I'm not the kind of guy who even likes to watch games like Gears of War. In fact, it took me a lot of effort to even give Resistance Fall of Man a try, evne though I knew from the reviews that it was a sure pleaser. Gorey and bloody games tend to turn me off. In the old NES days, there weren't any of that. I've always hated Mortal Combat for starting that blood trend. I was turned off at NGS for adding blood, too, and was going to avoid buying it. But the reviews were too positive for me to avoid it. I actually don't even notice the blood when I play though.
Originally, all I wanted was Marvel Ultimate Alliance. The Wii wasn't good enough. The 360 was just too expensive for something that only played games. The PS3 fit the bill since I could use it as a for anything else once I'm done with Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which I knew I would be in less than a week. Plus, since I stopped playing games when the PS1 and then the PS2 came out. I thought it would be nice to actually get to own both of them with the PS3's emotion chip backward compatibility. And now the games are only about $9-$19 each.
But as of now, Ratch & Clank may share my number one spot with Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is so good that I don't think I'll even need Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I'm happy playing and replaying this version. I have a gut feeling that I might enjoy R&C just as much if not more. But I don't know if Insomniac knows how to create such a strong replay value as NGS. R&C is a must title, even if it's just for guests who might come over and appreciate variety of my game selection rather than just an ocean of grizzly shooters to play with. If the guys do and say the same things over and over again, I think the replay value might not be there.
The one thing I really like most about this game other than the clean and fun atmosphere is that the world looks booming and very populated. It actually looks interesting and makes me want to explore it and have a good time. It's a happy mood rather than the constant tension and fear in the single player Resistance game. I think I'll walk away from R&C feeling smug and happy rather than all wiry and strained and tense as I usually am after Resistance Fall of Man or even Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

This game is like one big party. A happy party at a Saturday morning park during a holiday. :-)
The best thing is that it's so busy and alive, too. It's like everything on screen is doing something. And it's clean, family fun. That's why I kind of prefer VF5 over Mortal Combat and all those other figthers. VF5 doesn't have blood but blinking flashes of light. I'm glad they're keeping it clean.
This is my firt Ratchet & Clank experience, and I'm anxious. I can't wait.
secret @ Aug 20th 2007 2:20AM
The animation is also very smooth. I love it. Again, it reminds me of the NES days. Kind of reminds me of the happy clean fun I saw in AMAGON in NES. Yes that was a hard game, but you've got to admit that the graphics were good at the time and that it had a lot of strategy involved.
Good times are here everbody...

You guys should work for Insomniac, maybe as game testers if you're shy about your talents.
Consolcwby @ Aug 20th 2007 3:54AM
Wow, I've heard of double posting, but this is Ridiculous! (With a capital ARR!) =o secret, be cool - try not to go too overboard, 'k?
secret @ Aug 20th 2007 4:20AM
Ha ha ha...I'm being careless for now.
Turboman @ Aug 20th 2007 7:54AM
