The sirens echo off the walls of your living room, bedroom, or wherever you stow away your computer and/or television setup as the Poll Police roll in once again to question all your motives. This week we've heard a lot about the upcoming
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, but we've forgotten one major issue that needs to be resolved: how many of you care? Platformers are generally excellent games but have been cut down to very few successful franchises. This week, the Poll Police want to know how you feel about the game.
If you're curious about
last week's poll results, go ahead and click through to see if your fellow readers take game reviews into consideration with their purchases. As a whole, negative reviews for videogames will ultimately affect how the game sells, but it's only pertinent to those in a very small market anymore. Even so, people read reviews in the first place because they want to know if the game is worth the effort to play.

This was a
much closer result, relatively, than many of our polls in the past. If any of you checked on the results throughout the week, it was pretty entertaining to see the balance shift and sway momentarily, but ultimately you decided that reviews don't ultimately impact your purchase of a game, in this case,
Lair. Many of you cited the EGM review as the reasoning behind the poll, which isn't completely false, but it was a much more broad scope -- do negative reviews make you change your opinion about a game? Two-thirds of you said no, it doesn't. We're glad to hear it, and we're sure Factor 5 is glad to hear it, too! As always, thanks for voting and we'll see you next week!

I've never played a Ratchet and CLank game before, but this one looks like it will be fun so I'll probably pick it up. As for the lair the EGM review put a bad image in my head giving it such a mediocore rating, but Play magazine gave it a 9/10. So who knows, sony just needs to release the demo so i can see for myself.

Is it just me, or is something happening with PS3fanboy? Are you guys sensing it too?
DxG @ Aug 19th 2007 6:24PM

It's a miss if your name is Andrew Yoon.

@ secret & DxG -- I can't speak for anyone else, but I just started back at college so I'm having trouble getting all the news I can. However, weekends have next to no news to report on and over the last week, we've seen a big drop on relevant stories. Relevant is the keyword -- we prioritize stories that actually mean something. Anyway, this could be due to Leipzig and the Tokyo Game Show. After those, we expect an increase in news and, consequently, posts.

@ndoerr: R&C is a hit for me, is it a hit for you? (Or are your studies getting priority, in which case - can I have your job until spring 08?) =DD
ndoerr @ Aug 20th 2007 12:03AM
@ Consolcwby -- LOL! My studies definitely aren't getting in the way of gaming. I've been packing more time into Persona 3 than anything else. As for Ratchet, I've never played any of 'em and I haven't gotten my hands on this one, so I can't really say. Platformers generally aren't my bag, but neither are fighters (Virtua Fighter 5) or FPS (Resistance)... but I own both of those. So I'll probably get it, just not right away.
Consolcwby @ Aug 20th 2007 4:28AM
@ndoerr: Glad to hear you've got your priorities straight! =) Otherwise, I'll be here waiting... muhahah! (And I wouldn't be so leniant with the banhammer either!) >=]
Fish heads... eat em up - yum! =D

It's a day one purchase for me. Though it'll be collecting dust for a few years until the PS3's price point is lowered to a reasonable amount. Not being smart, just honest.

@ Josh! My God, man! Just rent or buy any of the main 3 (even the fps one was great, but different from the others), and play those ps2 games on your ps3. You will not be disappointed.
I hope Sony has enough brains to have this playing on their demo kiosks. This is the game that is gonna pull in families.
Nick. You never did upgrade to GT4, did ya?
And what's that? You've NEVER played Ratchet and Clank?
Man, are you missing out. Play the third one if you can only play one, note that in the third one, they've introduced some 'lite' rpg elements... maybe you will play it now, hmmmm, yes, yes?
Also, you just have to see how gorgeous this game looks on ANY screen. You could play it with composite video on a 5" black-and-white screen with one speaker, and still have fun, and you'll still think it's gorgeous.
It's THAT good.
This game has the ability to put the Wii to shame. I loves me some Mario, but Ratchet and Clank have my heart.
