Bladestorm bundle to invade Japan later this month
Yet another PS3 bundle is heading to Japan. This time, it's for Motorstorm Bladestorm. For 61,886 yen ($536), Japanese gamers (and importers) will be able to get a 60GB system, game and soundtrack. For those that already have a PS3, they might be interested in the much-too-expensive Bladestorm limited edition bundle, which includes the game, soundtrack CD, art book, and calendar. All for a whopping 9,980 yen ($86).
Previous PS3 bundles included Koei and Namco's Gundam Musou, and Sony's Minna no Golf 5.

that might go over well in Japan.
Not so much in the US.

Seriously. I played the demo....one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Just plain trash.

Yeah?
if your wondering why dont they put the soundtrack on the blu ray disks. Ask yourself this first. does my cd player play blu ray disks? No. but i guess people in japan will enjoy this they still love dynasty warriors.

#2. Is it as bad as that stupid Gundam demo that was up on the US store a month or so ago? What a bad game. I see zero entertainment value in games like that.

DW used to be an interesting diversion. Until the 3rd one proved that the formula will never ever change. =/ Too bad, because crossing this with Heavenly Sword type controls would do alot to bring the old magic of "if it moves, beat the crap out of it" back... =(

Bladestorm is NOT Dynasty Warriors. I played through the demo twice... its quite crap. You don't actually have direct swing/attack control of yourself. You take control of a unit of troops using X then hold down R1 to have everyone auto attack and swing periodically. The rest of the face buttons are a unified block, special attack, and coordinated attack. However you can only use it once and then the reset timer locks each one out for at least 10 seconds. Which basically means you stand right in front of a Gate Keeper guy and you just hold down R2 waiting for your character to hit him every couple seconds.
Its really dull. More like Kessen... Not Dynasty Warriors. You don't even get to mash buttons and have 1v1 officer battles.
Anyone who played the demo will not be buying this game.
People need to stop assuming stuff about Japan PS3 front and actually look it up.

Actually, I've been trying to get my hands on the demo... though I'm not sure how to set up an account to get it. :(
But from all the videos I've seen of this game... and a detailed explanation of the gameplay from the guys on the GameFAQs board who have it... I'm DYING to get a chance to play. *Drools*
Yes, this game plays VERY differently from the Dynasty Warriors series. It's a totally different style. And that's okay, because there's nothing wrong with something new.
This isn't about just mindlessly bashing anything that moves. You need strategy and tactics to be able to win the harder missions. And that's great!
I've been a massive fan of the "Warriors" titles from the start. I have every Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors game, plus the Xtreme Legends expansions. I just love it!
I also picked up the DW: Gundam game. It's friggin sweet stuff! Yes, a lot shorter than your typical DW game... but it is the first installement, and their first try at a PS3 game. But it's definitely got the promise of being a kickass branch of the series.
Some people complain about the DW games "not changing". And you know what, they're right. They don't change. And that's a wonderful thing.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Too many games come out with a winning system... then release some PoS sequel that completely changes it.
KOEI found a system that works, and they're sticking with it. Sure, there's minor changes and tweaks here and there... but the core game is the same. And that's what keeps them being #1 hits. The minute KOEI makes the DW games different... the series is going down the toilet.
Anyway... I'm rambling...
Bladestorm is a new direction for KOEI. Yes, it's somewhat similar to the Kessen titles. But still quite different.
It's a wonderful gameplay system... incredible replay and choice... and KOEI's award winning characters... all wrapped into one.
I've already got my pre-order in. And it comes to North America for my birthday no less!
