PS3 sales annihilate competition in Denmark

No, something is not rotten in this Denmark. In fact, for Sony, something is downright flowery in this Denmark. According to this Danish website, the PS3 is selling incredibly well: it's reportedly outselling the Wii in a 3.5:1 ratio and the 360 by a 6:1 ratio. Granted, the actual number of consoles isn't mentioned (but we should mention we love italics in this post), so it could be a case of spin. We don't like thinking that way, though, so we're going to consider this good news, as anyplace welcoming the PS3 into their home deserves a friendly pat on the back.

Will these results transfer over to worldwide sales in the coming year? There have already been estimates that the PS3 is going to outsell the 360 in the US, at least, estimates for July. We doubt the PS3 is going to overtake the Wii in sales for a little while longer, but that really depends on the media's continued support of the Wii. Perhaps, a few years from now, the millions of people with their PlayStation 3's will look on Denmark with starry eyes and say "It all began there."

my 2cents would be to say, "while good news, Denmark isn't the representation of the overall market, which is what Sony is looking for." but... that line was just epic enough that i'll support this outlook.

I think the 360 is outselling the PS3 in Nowheresville, planet Earth. This is a sure sign of 360 outselling PS3 worldwide and we could look back a few years from now (when millions own one) and say it all started in Nowheresville. (sarcasm)

What is the big deal who is in first? Unless the company in first owns 60% of the marketshare (like last gen... which is not going to happen) There is enough room for all 3 consoles. Yay!!! Sony had one good month (supposively outselling 360 in July). This week starts the release of great titles on the 360 from now til the end of the year. That coupled with price cuts, and Halo 3 coming out next month. How is one good month for Sony a sign of Sales Annihilation??

Sometimes I think PS3 fanboy loves to report and stretch what little new news they have just to start a flame war. You can say Sony had a good month. Why do you have to say (we're beating the snot out of our competition and Sony will once again rule the World!!!) This is exactly why PS3Fanboys suck!!

Sorry, but no. It's not so flowery. Nordisk Film Interactive specifically chose Merlin to come with a statement in their press release, because Merlin is not the kind of place that shifts a lot of consoles, because it's a crummy place to shop.

Looking at stats from gamer forums PS3 comes in a distant third place (around 1:3 at best for PS3 vs either of the two other consoles).

It's sadly not the first time NFI have issued a press release that's questionable at best. It probably won't be the last time either. That doesn't change the fact that PS3 is far from number one in the Danish market.

Well, if the 360 wins, that just proves that there are more D and C students than there are A students. In a classroom, the the grades are usuallly normally distributed, with the bulk of the students earning B, C, and Ds. Only a handful earn A's.

If you own a 360, let's see how intelligent you are when you're the only one shopping at Best Buy for a new bluray player, because I'm sure the low qaulity HD-DVD player add-on with on a failing format isn't going to satisfy anyone's tastes. And I'm sure you watch movies. Funny thing is that if you know how to research and if you love video games, you'll soon learn that the PS3 is currently the best Bluray Player available at the price. So either get stuck with no hi-definition movies or buy a standalone like the PS3. Kill two birds with two stones rather than two birds with one stone. Do me a favor and show me how intelligent you are. Add up the total cost and ring in, let's be generous, only 2 years of internet fees without any taxes at all. Tell me how much it has costed you in time and money compared to the PS3 purchaser's time and money. Dope. Play games more than doing homework, huh? I'm sure that makes you smarter than the rest of us.

My roommate owns a PS3 and I own a 360. I come here sometimes to follow up on news and upcoming titles to discuss it with him. No flamewar intended. But for the love of God, just stick to the news. Why does every article have to state (My console is better than yours). PS3fanboy, Joystiq, 360fanboy are always pretty current on news, that's why people stop in from time to time to read.

there must be a reason why the most expensive console is out selling the cheapest and the one with the most games in the middle of nowhere as some of you have said. the lowere install base should never have been a factor in this console war. thw wii because of its price and lack of next gen technology should not have been considered to be in the war(the technology can be duplicated by the PS3 even the PS2 or the 360). People baosting the 360 has such a large install base do to no comp and 1 year out is just ridiculous. in every multiplat game sales this thing pops up stfu theres nothing to be proud of, how much madden copies where sold there first year or any game soled in the first 9 months mind you that gears didnt release by this time. wht the PS3 lacks is very minor but is put out there to be very big in comparison to the 360. People say games save the 360 but How do you play when your 360 is in the shop for 4 to 6 weeks and why so happy about the 3 year warrenty when i heard that peace of shit news i didnt think o great i have repairs for free. i was pist to know that there was a possiblity that my 360 may have the same problems i laughed at other people failing while i sit and play until it happened to me. Games that where best sellers and console sellers didnt happen till a year later and yet they pointed at PS3 and said no games. Every console bought before gears was in hopes of getting Halo3(same boat). Games that were exlusive were 3rd party nto first party that had to come out for the 360 to survive and have a chance there first year most of the second installment will show up on the PS3 and most of you no that(Graw2, Condemned2, Saints Row2, Dead Rising2[not currently in development]), and some devs ported there games that were given great scores showed up on the PS3.

That is why I come to this site. I don't own a 360 or wii so i like my news focused on the Triple. Nick's writing style is really cool too and he doesn't really bash the other systems, just lets you know he prefers the PS3.

I'll just remember you that the whole Scandinavia has a population on about 25 mio. people, 42% of UK, so isn't it a important market?

Commentor "The Truth" may want to change that name unless he starts spelling truthfully. It's "supposedly," not "supposively" (who raised you). Look on dictionary.com, or better yet, read a book. Don't call yourself "The Truth" until you've read lots of books and can levitate. Then come back and spell correctly. Also, making statements like "This is exactly why PS3Fanboys suck!!" is not a statement of truth. Why not just name yourself "The Hypocrisyzer?"

And Tom, like many 360 commentors, does not give us any links or support for what he's saying. Plant!
