Sony Europe shooting off "fireworks" at Leipzig

If only Sony were being literal! It's been a while since a lot of us have seen fireworks, so when we heard Sony had some, we squealed a little bit inside. However, the meaning behind the words was more symbolic, proving to us once again that the PS3 has a lot of big announcements coming. SCEE head David Reeves said E3 wasn't where the real announcements started -- Leipzig is the place for Sony Europe to shine: "We prefer to make our big statements in Leipzig, it suits us much better ... There will be absolute fireworks at peak, that I can promise you. We will be doing things no-one has seen yet for both PS3 and PSP."

What could there possibly be in store for us? More games? Firmware 2.0? It's anybody's guess at this point -- we're running out of ideas for things the PS3 can do. It can already accomplish quite a bit. Whatever the case, whether it be a European price drop or the announcement of a few new titles for PS3 and PSP, we'll be excited enough to set off fireworks of our own.

How about....

1. Video conferencing, utilising PS3 EYE, to several people at once.
2. In game video chat (pausing the game might be good!).
3. Facial recognition of gamers, again utilising the Eye.
4. The long awaited unveiling of 'Rumblaxis'.
5. A HDD upgrade pack for dummies.
6. Home released early to all users.
7. GamerCard(tag) details released.
8. DivX/XVid codec recognition.

I just want achievements like i get on my 360. I'm not sure if I'll want a single trophy for every achievement, but damned if that doesn't increase the hell out of a game's replay value. I happily put much more time in games like Crackdown, while I give up on Ninja Gaiden after one playthrough.
Even without Home, I still want trophies.

I think it's arounf 4pm in germany at the moment. I think I read the Sony Press event is today, but when?

But I have ONE big wish: A Freeview/DVB-T tuner for the Europan market, at least I think many in Denmark will find that cool :)

I know many has a HD/DVD recorder, but Sony will could sell many more PS3 with both:

-HD recorder
-Blu-ray player
-Next-gen game console
-And many other stuff :)

Don't get too excited, David Reeves just like to call attention to Europe. He like hate SCEA for some reason, and does anything he can to undermine them. Sony should move this little dweeb to a dead end position to get him to shut up.

LIEpzig was an unmitigated utter DISASTER. It is clear that SONY are abandoning the hardcore gamer. The entire LIEPZIG SONY “FIREWORKS” was that we are getting PS3 turned into a sky/freeview box. NO NEW GAMES ANNOUNCED just loads of SHOVELWARE GARBAGE aimed at the Wii family non gamer market. GAmes where utterly sidelined with all the BUZZ/GO! Singstar karaoke GPS crap I AM UTTERLY LET DOWN AND DISGUSTED. SONY no longer value real gamers just like nintendo they have set their sight on other markets I dont want freeview or SKY on my games console. No mention of HOME at all I dont want to play crap like BUZZ QUIZ or any of that GO! branded garbage NO FIREWORKS JUST FALSE HOPE AND THE ABANDONMENT OF THE TRUE GAMER.
