Japanese PlayStation Store update is full of PSX love

While America has gotten a fantastic amount of new content in their PlayStation Store weekly update, Japan's update is no slouch either. Sporting fourteen new PlayStation titles that can be played on your PSP or PS3, they continue to get showered in retro love. Here's the full list of updates:

This is dumb, I really don't see why they don't just do world wide updates. Are they trying to make the PSN numbers look bigger by making people open more than one account? Other than Warhawk (don't get me wrong, I love it) I don't think we have anything on the euro network.

I don't even know what Ape Escape is an I already want it. You know whats funny, the only reason I'm posting is because I have to recharge my headset and sixaxis for Warhawk.

lol yeah, i'm not worried about anything they're updating today - I have my warhawk, don't think the ps3 will be used for anything else for a fair while.... :-)

Wait, what do you mean "that can be played on your PSP or PS3"?

I don't have a PSP, is there some functionality I don't know about where the ps3 will play PSP games? That's what I read, or probably WANTED to read... this isn't some weird like pan-dimensional 'backwards' compatibility, is it?

@Andy,

I remember I had $5 to my name and I was looking in Gamestop for a good PS1 game to play. I came across Ape Escape and it was surprisingly fun, and gorgeous to watch and play (the huge Tyranosaurus and the textures were great programming for that console).

I don't know about the others, but that was not a wasted $5.

I definitely love a lot of PSX games, like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FF VII, FF VIII (amazing this was done on PSX system), and more. I would either buy these used online (usually on half for $8-12 shipped in new or like new condition) or get it from PSN. The classics never get old.

@1 - If you whined like that in the US updates post that would have been fine... But I live in Japan...

LOOK at that list... half of it is crappy PS1 games no one in there right mind will buy. The US has tons of worthwhile game demos that haven't appeared on the Japanese Network store and last I checked Bladestorm and maybe Minna no Golf 5 is the only demo that only the Japanese store has. Those will go up on the US store as soon as release dates are announced of course.

2 pachinko games... wonderful. :/

Just do what everyone else outside the US does and make a US account. No point on whining about it because at the end of the day the content that goes up is decided by licensing issues.. not some deep desire to screw you specifically over. Btw only Europe is getting the awesome tv tuner/recorder... suck it up.

These are PS1 games, not PSP games. Both PS3 and PSP will pay PS1 titles

I think is`t stupid. They should, as far as possible release the same thing in all regions. When Sony`s selling the PS3, the PS-Store is something they talk a lot about. So either they should have told me the truth when I bought my system, witch is, Europe is not getting any games, or they should release the same thing in Japan, US and Europe.
When there is such a small number of games out there for the PS3, things like this matters more.

PS. Europe is not even getting wallpapers.
