Eternal Sonata website lists PS3 as platform
Currently confirmed as an Xbox 360 RPG, Eternal Sonata's official US website lists a curious addition: a PlayStation 3 version. We'd like to think that this isn't a mistake, but rather confirmation of a PS3 release. Considering it's only midnight on the west coast, Namco Bandai obviously won't return our e-mails, but stay tuned for more.

Didn't the game already come out in Japan for PS3?
fernando @ Sep 11th 2007 3:51AM

They tend not to let slip ups like this happen easily on official websites. If it's true, we should be hearing an official announcement very soon.

I suspect we'll see something concrete next week at Tokyo Game Show.

It didn't just have that one slipup. The pic should've been moved down a little, and showed that it also said Playstation 3, release date TBD

havent we known this for a long time? you guys posted about this a while ago. the 360, bless its soul, has NO rpg crowd whatsoever. blue dragon hardly made a dent.
phattie @ Sep 11th 2007 4:29AM
Didnt this get ho-hum reviews?

Eternal Sonata did not interest me on the 360 and I have no reason to be any more excited to hear it is coming to PS3.
Don't get me wrong I love RPGs and this is probably due to the Japanese RPG market and the relative difference in sales.
As for BK this is excellent as the game was meant to be canned and the prequels were excellent and interesting titles. I hope one is not going to have to spend $60 on it though. Surely this title will cost less than say...Heavenly Sword or any other full scale production. I felt the same about Virtua Fighter 3... Surely the pool of resources is fairly similar for such titles to previous generations.

@10 - The only people who can say they love RPGs are PS2 owners. No other console has so many good RPGs.
OrganicShadow @ Sep 11th 2007 10:18AM
@7: Classic. If it were the other way around it would have been "didn't this game get awesome reviews?" and the ps3 fannies would say "im not interested".
Sammy @ Sep 11th 2007 11:14AM
PS: yes I did mean Virtua Fighter 5...sorry.

cruddy little precious moments game. i'm more looking forward to Last Remanant and Mass Effect.
Next year it's all about Fable 2 and hopefully FF XIII!

@13
While I am interested in Last Remnant, if only because it looks cool and is coming from Square Enix, it comes to both consoles. The problem with all the big RPGs for 360 has been bland characters and story, which was the case for Fable and Blue Dragon. The true RPGs, for hardcore RPG fans, are currently coming only the PS3, and you will need more than speculation to change that.

Shin Megumi Tensei
Disgaea 3
Star Ocean 4
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
The thing about PS console owners (for me at least), is that we have loyalty to good franchises. I have bought every of the above franchise (except for a few Shin Tensei Megumi because they are rare and cost like $100 on ebay). I will definitely get those when they come out for the PS3.

you can't seriously tell me that KOTOR was a boring game, or that Fable wasn't entertaining? or that Jade Empire wasn't intresting? (they all came for PC too but a game is a game is a game.)
i agree most games (sudeki, blue dragon, eternal sonata) for xbox are not too great as it's not an RPG machine. notice that i was also looking forward to FF XIII. quick to assume are we?
Mass Effect is shaping up to be another great Bioware RPG.
Fable 2 is giving more options to the player. just the dog itself is a wild and intresting idea.
for the most part tho, i can't stand JRPGs as much as i used to. too much of the Hero must Succeed BS, which is why i won't be getting Lost Oddysey for the 360. (the main hero's stupid strand of hair in his face, ugh, so cheesy)
please spare the Wiki, most of that list is on 360.

@ryano
You just listed lots of Western RPG's. Very different beasts to JRPG's altogether. Personally the only western RPG's that have kept me interested have been Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (PC) and Icewind Dale. Beyond that I didn't really get on with KOTOR, Jade Empire or Fable. But the Shin Megami, Final Fantasy games and other JRPG's keep me far happier :)
ryano @ Sep 11th 2007 6:15PM
well of course i listed some western RPGs. how else can i give an opinion on what type of RPG i like? =)
i played Baldur's Gate 2 for pc. pretty boring and slow. I like the decision aspect of the Bioware and Lionhead games tho. i was a big fan of Anime and Anime RPGs growing up, so i can only marginally be interested in Last Remenant and FF XIII.
but that sorta grew out of me. no doubt there are plenty of quality JRPGS out there, but i enjoy innovation over tried and true.
chicken or beef? different strokes for different fokes i guess.
Pierce @ Sep 11th 2007 8:05PM
looks like its been removed.
Gunblader @ Sep 11th 2007 11:44PM
According to neogaf it's been confirmed in the newest famitsu. Slated for Spring 08 with more playable characters.
