"* Simultaneous playback of content under [Music] and [Photo] is now supported.
Yes. Photos and music can now be played back simultaneously."
Sa-wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeett!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, all these features sound great. They are small improvements, but are things people have been asking for for a long time.
Not sure if I will update my current PSP (is at 3.00) or buy the PSP Slim & update that.
TrackSol @ Sep 11th 2007 3:23AM
Wow, looks like Sony's taking some ideas from the homebrew community they so openly despise.
rockeranimefreak @ Sep 11th 2007 3:23AM

madmog @ Sep 11th 2007 4:00AM

eGGo @ Sep 11th 2007 4:15AM
Just finished updating my Japanese unit (1000K). The cookies theme is amusing...suddenly I have a craving form some cookies.
daniel-kun @ Sep 11th 2007 4:48AM
It somehow feels like Sony is finally moving on, instead of staying still and ignoring people.
I'm eager to hear details about the themes and music playback.
By the way, there's a custom firmware plugin that lets you play music even while playing games!
Alien @ Sep 11th 2007 5:16AM
Nice update , its a major surprise for yours trully :D
Bored @ Sep 11th 2007 5:16AM
Themes are obviously "inspired" by homebrew.
Better late than never, methinks.
Andy @ Sep 11th 2007 6:05AM
i havent got any themes other than "original". WHY???
JayD-1K @ Sep 11th 2007 6:52AM
did any body else see the PSP Spot icon under the web icon?
LoyalistRevolt @ Sep 11th 2007 7:14AM
Wow if they keep this up I don't need to downgrade!
Lynx @ Sep 11th 2007 7:32AM
3.70?!? And simultaneous usage of multimedia!? SWEET!!! BUT! when I went to www.us.playstation.com/psp for an update of that version, its not there... How come? And where can I download it from? Someone please reply on this.. Tnx for the time!!!
Kspraydad @ Sep 11th 2007 7:50AM
Yep...Sony got the idea for 'themes' from the homebrew community...it isn't like themes have existed on home computers for over 15 years...yep, definitely didn't get there idea there.
Anders @ Sep 11th 2007 8:03AM
"The cookies theme is amusing...suddenly I have a craving form some cookies."
i am only given the option of original. where's the cookies theme?
Caprica @ Sep 11th 2007 8:18AM
the themes are here http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jp.playstation.com%2Fpsp%2Fupdate%2Fud_01_exp370.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8
Caprica @ Sep 11th 2007 8:20AM
The themes are here tinyurl.com/23aj5n
Barndo111 @ Sep 11th 2007 8:21AM
Yeah, like Anders I'm curious how this "Theme" thing is working? I'm guessing later we'll be able to download Sony permitted themes, just not yet though. I've always wanted the ability to have my movies play sequentially without having to go back to the XMB so i really like that update.
I noticed that now when you highlight an item from the XMB a little icon pops up on the bottom right showing that triangle opens the options menu which is really nice for new owners.
Cool update Sony, definitely appreciated.
Caprica @ Sep 11th 2007 8:22AM
oops sorry for the double post, thought the first one didnt work cause of the URL.
pjak @ Sep 11th 2007 8:26AM
Yes, I'm getting the PlayStation Spot icon to on my PSP-1003!!!
halebound00 @ Sep 11th 2007 8:39AM
"Support has been added for assigning buttons in [Remote Play]"
Does this mean that I could make up and down on the D-pad function as L2 and R2, cus that would make playing Lair pretty sweet if it does. You might be able to actually funish the game from start to finish. Remote play is awesome.
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 8:47AM
cool i've only had my new PSP-2001IS for a day and alreayd the 1.60 Firmware is outdated LOL,..
Now hurry up and Make Remote Play 2-way SONY,. let me play PSP games and access my PSP media on my PS3 as well!!
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 8:48AM
grr now if I had a Wireless Router would be nice to get this,. Damnit why can't the PS3 act as an Access Point or the PSP
Bored @ Sep 11th 2007 9:29AM
You can now download it from either of the official US or UK PSP sites.
will @ Sep 11th 2007 10:54AM
i wish i could listen to music while i was surfing the net. sony should try that.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Sep 11th 2007 10:00AM
Is this update for slim or PHAT?
wambam @ Sep 11th 2007 10:10AM
i like the two themes 'classypink' an 'cookies' hope they'll bring more out quick. to get them use link @15 download them place in folder "THEME" this needs to be created in the PSP folder enjoy
TrackSol @ Sep 11th 2007 10:10AM
@ Tim Parsons, this firmware is for the older PSP fat (aka PSP-1000). Also, the PSP firmware on your new PSP slim and lite is 3.60, not 1.60
Brandon @ Sep 11th 2007 10:11AM
The updates are for both versions of the system.
Josh @ Sep 11th 2007 10:35AM
fanfuckingtastic. i'm enjoying this. i noticed that my system is also a lot faster now. like when i play Music , and i use Visual Player, i'll use the second option. (the one with the little bubblets) . from there, i'll hit select and look at a sweet picture... the thing is, theres like no slowdown. so i'mmo try some sweet game now. so go on , try it!
Koen van Wijk @ Sep 11th 2007 10:53AM
Does anybody now what that icon between the movie and game icon is in the screen?
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 10:50AM

Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 10:53AM

http://www.pspimages.net/pspthemes.php
podandcunfused @ Sep 11th 2007 1:38PM
What is that little icon between the video and play icons??
oh and what folder do i save the themes?
pjak @ Sep 11th 2007 2:32PM
The little icon between the video and play icons is from the Japanese 1seg TV addon...
And PSP theme (.PTF) files should be saved to your stick in the "PSP\THEME" folder. According to the Japanese PSP site, there will be some sort of editor later in the month...
halebound00 @ Sep 11th 2007 3:45PM
how do you customize the buttons for remote play? can't seem to figure it out.
dapurplebyrd @ Sep 11th 2007 3:52PM
download 3.70 here at http://www.psp-vault.com/
JayD-1K @ Sep 11th 2007 4:01PM
they have (3) options you can choose from! types (1&2), and a custom.
podandcunfused @ Sep 11th 2007 4:36PM
thanks ...pjak
i thought i missed something in the download. hope they get new themes up and running. Call me paranoid but i don't trust the homebrew as much as i would like. just dont know if someone one day decides to be a smart guy, and single handily destroy everyones psp. just because he can.
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 4:36PM
@ 40 can that site be trusted? is it a legit/untampered version?
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 4:38PM
@40 I dont even see 3.70 on that site you listed most recent version there is 3.52 or a homebrew (illegal) version of 3.60
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 4:43PM
opps nevermind it's the first thing on the Main/Home page LOL and its a link of the SONY site which SONY itself is yet to display on its own site for some reason,. thnkas man sorry for doubting you LOL
jamma @ Sep 11th 2007 4:53PM
"@40 I dont even see 3.70 on that site you listed most recent version there is 3.52 or a homebrew (illegal) version of 3.60"
When the hell did homebrew firmware become illegal??? It's all legal except game piracy.
Tim Parsons @ Sep 11th 2007 5:38PM
LOL @46 i meant to say Illegit meaning not the offical SONY Firmware not illegal LOL
ax @ Sep 12th 2007 7:17AM
Only I have the feeling of that the browser and the hole system (menus, etc) had became a little faster? Navigation is very quick, the browser too..... like +100 MHz or something like that!
Very great update!!!!
(I'm on cookies theme, normal psp)
someguy @ Sep 11th 2007 6:35PM
