System update 1.93 is out now [updated]
While it doesn't really do a whole lot other than fix the bugs you may have encountered from version 1.92, a new software update has been released for the PS3 and you should download it. If you can't get on the network to even download the update, there's always the option of sticking it on a flash memory and uploading it directly. From what we saw at the PlayStation forums, that doesn't seem to really be an issue for anyone yet, but it may happen if you're somehow locked out of all things internet-related. Well, enjoy being able to play Warhawk again, if you were hit with the bug!
[Update: the servers seem fairly unstable at the moment, so if you're in no big rush, it's probably a better idea to wait until the morning to download the update. It's not necessary, just saves you a bit of trouble if you keep getting a network error.]

I started it at 11:07 and by 11:11 i was back into the XMB again. yeah I've noticed no difference period,. but i don't have WarHawk and i wasn't having network problems anyway,. hmm wait,. wonder if it improved LAIR NETWORK,...

So I just grabbed (or tried to grab) the update and it looks like it froze my system. Now WTF do i do? Pretty sure I'm not supposed to turn the machine off while it's in the middle of intalling updates...

I got to 2% and figured theres no point in downloading it now, whether it crashes or not, i dont need anything fixing and if there is a big server bottleneck issue then i dont see why i should serve to add to the troubles, so i'll give it 24hrs and give it a whirl then, instead i'll sit back and enjoy the media server capabilities :)

whoa,.. MY PS3 sound and video settings keep randomly changing it drops from 1080P to 480i and the sound settigns go from optical to composite,. WTF!!?

I just upgraded with no problems... But I see no difference? I have also upgraded my PSP but again I see no difference. No added features. Just security I guess. My F@H still blanks out my PS3 when I try to access it from PSP remote play.....I have to throw the back switch in order to see everything again.

I was having the same issue, until I restarted my PS3 and then it downloaded fine so that maybe have something to do with it.

Firmware update 1.92 wouldn't let me connect to the internet but Sony quickly fixed it with 1.93 which lets me connect fine. thanks Sony. least they sorted it quickly, nice one.

I'm sure you guys know this already...or maybe not, but you can download the firmware updates from the PS3 website. Just place them on a thumbdrive... Download takes roughly 1 min and then transfer it. Simple. Well...almost simple...make sure you make the files so the PS3 can read them...read the step by step instructions on the website.

The finnish playstation internet site still hs 1.92.. if you were wondering, what that changed heres a rough translation: Some PS3 games' playability has changed (Does not have effect games in Europe, Africa, Middle-East, Oceania)
And thats it, I still haven't been able get even that. Gives me some damn network error, but seems that there wasn't much to get.

I just logged in to play Warhawk and the update message came up; however no matter what, it gets stuck at 4%. A Pre-elementary and simple task such as update shouldn't be this problematic on a 600 $ console.
Very annoying indeed.
but i was just wondering, if Sony servers are not capable of handeling a simple software update, how the hell are they going to support HOME?

DAMN IT!!! DON"T UPdate to 1.93!!! NOW I can't even get past 4% without a network error. I've tried putting the installer files on SD Card, CD, and even Memory Stick and when i try to load it from my PS3 all i get is "No applicable update data available" Am I Screwed Or What?!?!

I am not getting past 4% either. Read a comment to turn off media server and retry. Did that... nothing. Restarted machine 15 times over.. each time after it still died at 4%/

afetr EU 1.93 I have a big problem regarding screen size ( I have full hd lcd)
when video output is set to 1080p, the screen seems slightly oversized (I can't see some 10% from the left side)
when output is set to 1080i, everything looks fine
any idea ??
btw: I had to reset my console couple time since that update as it was frozne :-(

I downloaded the update and lost sound through HDMI. After rebooting to see if that would bring sound back, now the video isn't working properly through HDMI either. :-(

All we had to do to get it to download was to go into the system settings and do a connection test which will terminate the current connection and then open a new one. Worked fine after that for each of us. btw, we were both using wireless, not sure if wired setups will have the same issue/fix.

Thanks, Sony! After I updated to 1.93, no more online gaming! Can't find a match for R6:Vegas, Rooms are always full in Warhawk(the server indicator says not full)

sony help line told me the server error was cus too many people were trying to download it at the same time and the servers couldn't handle it. i dont know what problem 1.92 had but 1.93 doesnt seem to do much.

I have been trying to download version 1.93 for 2 days now so that I can get back to online gaming but just like everyone else my update keeps freezing at 4% then it says "Network error, a connection to the server couldn't be established" and I have emailed Sony 3 times in the past 48 hours with no response from Sony other than their autoresponder stating they received my email from their website but they never respond back and I'm unable to play WarHawk & R:FOM online. Plus, Sony's website only has the 1.92 version available for download from their site. I have tried to download it at least 35 - 40 times this afternoon, with no luck or success!!!
