Weapons upgrades in Ratchet & Clank Future
Fans of Ratchet & Clank are no stranger to weapon upgrades. The system featured in the upcoming Tools of Destruction takes the customizing features of Deadlocked, streamlines them and makes them more accessible. Just like previous Ratchet games, your weapons will automatically upgrade over time through experience points. However, those that want greater customization of their weapons can head to a weapons counter and access this upgrade grid (pictured, above).
Upgrades, such as more ammo, bigger effects, increased damage, and more can be added to the weapons. In fact, some upgrades are unique to each particular weapon. In order to use the system, players will follow a branching path on the grid. Choosing one upgrade will unlock the ability to get another. It's very similar to the Final Fantasy XII system.
The final build of Ratchet & Clank is heading to PS3 Fanboy soon. Stay tuned for more very, very soon.

I wonder what we would be using Raritanium for?
2nd Screen shows we collect it

Since the symbol next to it is the same as that next to the 75 (the cost) and the 9550 (what you have) I'd guess it's the money for this game.

I got a free demo disk at EB games for putting $5 down on a pre-order. I played Heavenly Sword all night though so I haven't tried it yet.
Hey Nick or Andrew, could you put up a Heavenly Sword user reviewer post kind of like you did with LAIR? Or a hands on post?

Raritanium was used to trade for money. So maybe it'll be something you can sell.
These pictures are very exciting. Too bad it's a whole month and a half away.

Let me revise my comment. After reading #2's comment, I think it would make sense that just these special upgrades are bought with Raritanium. Maybe they wanted it to be different than just the usual bolts to buy everything. Maybe bolts are for regular weapons, ammo, and items, and Raritanium is for special upgrades. Makes sense.

I kinda skipped most of the PS2 generation due to a bad launch PS2 so I missed all of this series. I think I'll be picking it up, looks fantastic so far.

Can't help but be reminded of Blockbusters; "I'll take a More Raritanium please Bob!"
Looking forward to this one :)

Actually, the 'money' in the game is still Bolts. You get those off of enemies as well as in crates, just like the other games. You use Bolts at the Weapons Vendor to pay for new weapons, replace your ammo, and a few small upgrades here and there.
Raritanium also drops off of enemies, though in far lower quantity in comparison to Bolts. Raritanium is only used for the weapon upgrade board.
