All I can tell is that is that this seems to be set before the meiji era, where the yakuzas were could be the protectors or destroyers of communities.
When the main character was called to it was "Wait master!", which makes him a head of a family or sect.
In the part where the girl carries the Katana, she's asking whether if he will do anything for the right amount of money, he says yes that's right, so then she asks him to please kill someone.
I'm illerate though, so don't ask me what the characters mean. But it looks good, since I believe those are not prerendered.

Hells yeah!
Mango @ Sep 14th 2007 2:45PM
The girl says "Miyamoto" at the end. Maybe Mario is the final boss.
Aurvant @ Sep 14th 2007 3:02PM
It's Miyamoto Musashi and I am assuming that the man he is dueling with is Sasaki Kojiro. They were both rivals in the feudal era of Japan and I guess that Yakuza 3 has a storyline revolving around that rivalry at one point.
The dual-wielding swords gave him away, as did Kojiro's O-Katana during their battle. Plus, the girl at the end calls the title character "Miyamoto".
Looks awesome and I cannot wait.

Yes. That looks pretty and all, and the music makes you shake it, but I don't think any of that was even gameplay footage. I'll reserve getting excited about this until I see the actual game, not just FMV.
finelicker @ Sep 14th 2007 7:27PM
I hope if they release it over here, they leave the japanese voices and have subtitles, the translation and lip sync goes to rat shit when they convert it.
boltu222 @ Sep 14th 2007 3:35PM
Nah doubt that was FMV looks like VF5 graphics
1. Said that she want's him to kill some one I'm assuming its Miyamoto Mushashi.
I read somewhere that this would be a retelling of the first game not too sure tho after this trailer. However apparently the main characters got Kiryu in his name and looks like Kazuma Kiryu of the first game and the little girl is called Haruka same as the little girl from the first game...

Never fear PS3Fanboy, your readers will do the work for you!
Translation of the text in the video:
Introducing new work “like a dragon”
Director: Nagoshi ….
Year 1605 Gion
The lone guardian of the geisha district
His two names: Kiryu Kazuma and Miyamoto Musashi
The man with two names sweeps through the town of Kyoto
List of actor names
Behold! “like a dragon”
“like a dragon” spring of 2008, behold!
So when the girl asks him to kill Miyamoto Musashi, she's asking him to kill... HIMSELF!

pshh @ #5 cg could be 10 times better.
Have you seen oblivion?
This is (99%) most likely Gameplay
(hell MGS4 gameplay even looks better)
Im not saying this game looks bad by any means though... it looks freaking sweet... but dont doubt the graphics
Popfrogs @ Sep 14th 2007 3:53PM
FMV? Hahahahah...the PS3 is _easily_ capable of graphics this good. Heavenly Sword looks 5x better in motion than this does. Not to say this looks bad, but accusing it of fmv? LOL.
Metoo @ Sep 14th 2007 4:07PM
Eh, looks like PS2 game movies.
Dan @ Sep 17th 2007 11:17AM
The reason I think that's mostly pre-rendered is not the quality. I completely understand that the PS3 is capable of some amazing real-time rendering. I think it's mostly not gameplay footage because there's no HUD, no menus, and not many actions that would make sense as gameplay actions.
