TGS07: Remote Play functionality expands significantly
At Kaz Hirai's keynote in Tokyo Game Show, the PlayStation Portable's Remote Play feature was demonstrated. Mainichi Demo was on display with "new PSP functionality" that allows you to turn on and off your PlayStation 3 system via Remote Play, something that wasn't possible with previous versions of the feature.
In the future multiple PSP systems will be able to connect as a hub, as seen in this slide. Remote Play is a strong focus for Sony+ gamers will play games, use the PSP as a second screen and more.

Cool cool,. So did they add the feature to use your PSP as a Access Point for poeple who don't have Wifi alreayd in their home?(not that it matters had to to get a Wifi router last week for my PSP slim anyway so to late to save me money but still)

And it sucks that Remote playt won't work unless the PS3 if left in the Remote Play screen,. that Screen/option shouldn't exist. You should be able to acess the PS3's Remote play at all times unless a game is in progress,. But i'm guessing if you can turn the PS3 on/off now that that screen isn't needed anymore, hopefully they mae it 2-way as well, would be nice to be able to acess PSP content form my PS3 in the same way without havign to plug it in the a USB port, and play a PSP game on my TV via my PS3 without needed the Component cables,.(which i had and returned yesturday) Cause on the back of my TV the audio inputs are on side side of the tv and video the other with like 8 inches in between ,. the PSP component cable was just short enough that I either had Video no sound or sound no video,plus it just looks too streeched out on a big widescreen tv I think anyway

Um no, that's why it can now(soon) be turned on via remote play. You'll no longer need to leave it at that screen. That was the whole point.

and why would you want to access your PSP from anywhere that'll mean you'd have to leave the WAN switch on all the time running the battery slightly and where the hell is your PSP if your not near it

Kxpuc, you are confused.
You don't remote access your PSP, you remote access your PS3 with your PSP. IMO, It's a great feature. I can listen to my entire music library (like 30 gigs worth) from my PSP anywhere there is internet access. And if I'm on a business trip, or vacation I might want to watch some videos I have stored on the PS3, or perhaps even play a PS3 game. It really expands the PSP's use since I don't have to have all that stuff stored on the PSP.

Larz, Kxpuc was responding to our local fanboy extraordinaire, Tim Parsons. Tim wants Remote Play to become a two way street, where not only the PSP can access PS3 content, but also having the PS3 access PSP content.
A stupid idea really.

I welcome this feature as one I have been waiting for. I personally dont like to leave my system on but this way I can go on and view videos etc remotely without that extra wear and tear. Also to start those big downloads while Im away so they are ready when I get home.

Surely the real possibility of remote play is where the PS3 can be controlled by the PSP eg audio out from the PS3 in remote play. Then this will have some real practical use.
