TGS07: Final Fantasy XIII trailer impressions

Earlier trailers highlighted Lightning, but the trailer at TGS showed off a number of new characters, environments and creatures. A gunman that seems to have specific mastery over water shoots a crystal, creating a massive water summon. Paths of ice form in the sky, as he rides along on a motorcycle. Certainly, a spectacle to behold. Then a massive African-inspired scene provides a stark contrast to the futuristic environments we've seen of the game so far. Fantastic Mammoth-like beasts walk across a river in a scene that could've been ripped out of a Afrika gone slightly astray. Debuting in this new trailer was a brand new female character that stands, staring at a frozen planet orbiting in the sky. The trailer ends with a proud proclamation "PS3 Only," to silence any doubters.
Once again, we were stunned by the visuals of the trailer, which went beyond the quality of most Hollywood productions. The new dry landscape showcased provides reassurance that the game will not remain stagnant in its visual look. However, in spite of the incredible excitement generated by the trailer, we were surprised that a different game in the Square Enix theater stole the show.

PS3 Only Xboys. Now that it is 100% certain that FF13 is NOT coming to the 360, cue the 360 fanboys claiming that the FF series is crap and that they dont want it anyway.

I'm so excited because that statement just screams FF7 remake to me. Nothing else could warrant such a tease. Then again, maybe I'm just making it out what I want it to be.
The silly thing, I don't even like FF7 that much, but the thought of a remake is ever so exciting. Silly me, I'll admit to blindly following the FF logo ;_;

i'm a 360 owner and plan on getting a PS3 when this game comes out. play the games you want to play and not the systems. geez!

I heard from another forum that SE is supposed to show "end of crisis core ff7" or something like that.... That title might be it - the source was not sure whether it is another spinoff or remake though.

That was probably it. Unless everyone was actually hard over Crises Core. Or a new portable KH. Or I could hope in vein that neither source was allowed to reveal the remake of VII.
Oh well, I'm assuming it is AC: Complete.

Lets face facts here. FF fanboys themselves still think of VII as THE HOLY GRAIL or FF. So while it would have been nice to see it on the 360 I'm not going to cry about it...not until I see something worth caring about. SO far all we've seen are trailers.
So nice try there but I'm not falling for the flame bait.
Lots of people have felt that FF is the same repetitive stuff since the series began.
And lets face it the ONLY reason some people wanted it on the 360 was either out of curiosity or a deep burning desire to see sony fail.
I'll admit to wanting both of those things.

There was three new Kingdom Hearts titles announced too:
Kingdom Hearts Coded - for mobile;
Kingdom hearts 358/2 (358 over 2 that is) - for DS;
Kingdom Hearts Sleep before Birth - for PSP;
Possibly they are the "different" games Andrew is talking about? Since no other Square Enix games are on PS3 fanboy, it'd make sense if whatever he is talking about is on another system...

I just do not understand the logic in that statement. I prefer the PS3 over the 360, but I do NOT want the 360 to fail. Competition is a GOOOD thing for us. It gives us more choices, better games while paying less for them, and we see the constant battering back and forth between Microsoft and Sony trying to out-do each other so that they can get more people to buy their machine.

Maybe Star Ocean 4 for PS3 only? I heard that was supposed to be announced sometime... Anyway, FF7 is the "best" doesn't mean the others "suck". Like many of my halo friends liked Halo 1 but didn't like 2, that doesn't mean Halo2 didn't sell well or sucked by any means. Plus imo if freaking Zelda, Metroid and Mario are selling well over more reiterations than FF and FF is basically a brand new game everytime, I don't think FF is failing or losing people's interest.

Personally I thought 10 (thats the one with Yuna in it right?) was an excellent one. I liked the characters. The stories. The ending brought tears to my eyes.
However I've never really played the other FF games and I don't have any deep desire to do so.
I'm really looking forward to finding out more about the game, plot, gameplay (too complex or just alright), characters, etc....
If all of that turns out alright then I'll either find a way to rent a ps3 or just go over to someone who just happens to have a ps3 and invade his house for a week or two...lol.

I think many people loves FF7 was because it was the "next gen FF" with polygons and all and the other FFs above it 8+ are more or less graphic enhancements or lacking in story. I played through all the FFs except FFOnline,revenant wings and crystallis. And I would love to see a remake of FF7, however, I don't know if I will play that over Star Ocean 4 or any new RPGs I haven't beaten. I just don't see all the FF7 fans buying the game yet again unless there are some drastic changes to the ending or maybe the story - perhaps the "revive aeris trick" working.
I actually like FF8 a lot except the stupid card draw system which pretty much "prevented" me from using magic and wasting time drawing before bosses. FF7 is indeed popular but sales wise the others are not very far , i think a couple even surpasses 7.

Trust me you would wear out your welcome before the story even gets rolling. FF games are huge and take dozens of hours to finish, more if you do the side quests. No borrowin, or renting on this one, sorry.
And yes FF is still as awesome as always. I loved 7, didn't finish 8, never played 9 ( I still want to) and loved 10. Each game brings a new story, characters and world so its like a new ip everytime.

on a side note, ps3informer.com has an article (via digg) that it is Star Ocean 4 for PS3 (not sure exclusivity) not a FF7 remake... I guess SO4 trade for infinite undiscovery is good...

No I think the "different" game is the rumoured sequel to FFVII.
It was rumored to be called "Endless Crsis: Final Fantasy VII"

I've played the entire series, and the way I see it FFVI is the holy grail, FFVII is its rebirth. I'd kill to see a remake on the PS3, I mean hell, how many times can you remake and/or release 1-6. And to the poster who hasn't played FFIX. Its a nice homage to the older FF games, but the story's a bit short. If you want to play a game that honors its roots, its a fun time killer

no hd player built in(no future proof)
well halo is damn good but so is warhawk.
lots of crappy game in the 360.
and the biggest reason rumble is back.
cheaper than 360 if u add all the hd dvd $199+$99 wifi.

why do people say FF is a dyind series. there all indvidual games that may have some references to one another but end actualy being very different in the end. The FF name is more like the name of an an author who rights a lot of good books, if you see his name you know its gonna be good, with each book being of a different story meanwhile sharing some similarities referring to the authors style.
