TGS07: PSP online store open now for Japanese only
The announcement of a PSP store - accessible via the PC - was open for business today, but only for Japanese customers. PSP-Vault.com have a great article up about with a walkthrough of the store. From the looks of it there's a lot of stuff on there already and we're looking forward to getting our grubby mitts on the content soon. Unfortunately you can only access the store if your browser and/or operating system is running with Japanese language settings. Also, the download plugin doesn't work with Macs.
So until the store is available for Europe and America (and they sort out that ridiculous Mac problem), we'll have to keep downloading our content manually. It's a shame, really. Our new Crisis Core PSP Slim is hungry for downloadable content.

I was curious so I did some research, the Mac OSX install base was estimated at 22 million in March of this year. Not sure what the Windows Vista user base is like in contrast to that but it's clear the Mac is no small demographic.

Still ... it is a step in the right direction.

Hey guys, this is JustEaton from PSP-Vault.
If you want to check this store on your PC, but you're not living in the Japanese area (or still experiencing an error message), try these steps:
-Change your language settings by adding Japanese as the default language (Firefox: Tools, Options, Advanced, General)
-Clear your cache, and any cookies from the PlayStation Store website
-Test it out!
Our administrator, zmcnulty, was able to pull this off right away, as his language is already set to default to Japanese, whereas I was receiving the error. I did the above steps, and I can now access the store. It's not much help right now, since it's still in Japanese, but if you're wanting to explore a bit, you're now able.
Enjoy!

Heck, it gives us some hope. I can't wait til they get this to work for the US
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Sep 20th 2007 9:15PM
Let's see what will happen when the US/EU one launches. I'm really hoping the EU gets almost the same content as we do because lately they've been getting snubbed.

@required.
60 million installed base as of July 2007 for Vista alone (ie not including XP in these numbers).

What I don't get is that Europe has had a PSP store for ages. It's just never been used for anything besides serving as a download central for downloadable content etc. instead of yourpsp.com (and it hardly ever gets updated anymore).

You guys are jerks for boasting about your FF PSP S&L... Like anyone can even know that!

My friends that are Mac-tards are always boasting about their Macs. One of the things they always say is that they can run Windows. So then why does it matter if it's Windows software?
Personally, I hate Apple as a company. Their tyrannical, monopolistic tendencies are too much to bear. I don't like Microsoft either. But the beauty of PC's is that it doesn't matter what OS you run. I enjoy giving money to the many smaller companies who make the various components of PC's. For an OS, Windows is an option but I prefer Linux. I don't mind giving Microsoft 50 bucks every 5 years for their OS so I can do some gaming. I do mind, however, giving one company all of my money like I would be forced to do with Apple (especially when I'm getting an inferior and overpriced product). I honestly don't get Mac people.

Apple has been the luxury car of personal computers for twenty years; they're not going anywhere.
In regards to computer sales, Apple is the ninth or tenth largest share.
But in regards to OS install base, Windows iis waaay higher, as in billions. Vista alone has sold sixty million units. I bet there are more than 22 million PCs running between New York and the rest of the tri-state area.
So who cares about Mac users...and I'm a Mac user? I like them for what they're good for, but they are not a big priority.

It's a good thing I already own a PS3, otherwise that'd be yet another barrier to me getting content. My ancient laptop with a 14kb modem is the only thing I have that runs windows and I'd imagine a PS1 game would take quite a while to download to that.
