TGS07: Valkyrie of the Battlefield shows watercolors are still cool
Sega kicked off the cel-shading revolution with Jet Set Radio, but now the company is pushing the technology even further by using it to create gorgeous watercolor-theme graphics, which its calling Canvas. It really does look like a painting has come to life.
While we would have loved to see some actual gameplay, there's no denying the game looks great. Let's just cross our fingers that Sega decides to ship this baby worldwide.

What kind of game style is it? Looks like an hybrid of RPG and turn-based strategy. I wonder if it will have some elements of Advanced Wars. I hope its out soon, but my wallet is going to be hurting soon.

Class - looks more like a Studio Ghibli film than a game!

Sega and any other RPG company,
For the love of God, PLEASE MAKE MORE GOOD GOT DAYUM RPGs!!!!!!
I'll be keeping my eye on this one closely! PS3 is lacking severely in this genre. Keep up the good work. SsssEeeeGgggAaaa...

Wow, I think this will be a system seller, especially in Japan. It shows what you can do next-gen. You couldn't make those graphics on a Wii.

This game looks beautiful. It's nice to know that there are genres other than FPS's that will end up on our console.

let's look at the bright side, at least it's not a WWII shooter. THANK GOD!
Looks interesting tho. Heck, there's no such thing as TOO much RPG. ;)

They should really just call this game "Lands of Arcadia" and market it as a crazy-ass Skies of Arcadia prequel. This looks really tight. I just had to gush a little bit. RPGs... I needs thems.

I really hope this comes to the US. I looks very promising. I don't have a PS3, but my brother does. I'd probably just buy it and play it at his place. :-)

Click on movie to download a high quality version. It looks really nice. The high quality one is on the left I believe. The file will either say big or small, so you can figure it out. I hope it comes to the PS3. I don't even know what the gameplay is like and I want to play it. Its so uniquely beautiful.

This is one of those games from the looks of it like the glory days of Sega kind of game. Seeing as Bandai Namco brought Eternal Sorta out in the US and from the looks of the game they all most look the same. So I hope this game from Sega will come out in the US and in Europe.

This looks amazing. Hope beyond hope that the battle system is up to snuff and it sees a US release.

I still think this is the worst, clunkiest title. It's when English really sounds bad. Imagine going into Gamestop and trying to rattle off, "Hey, do you guys have Valkyrie of the Battlefield?"
The rhythm is so wrong, and "of the" are two wasted syllables in a title with too many.
I keep thinking about this, what a horrible title it is.
Why not start with "Battlefield Valkyrie"?
"Do you have Battlefield Valkyrie?"
Already sounds better.

This is absolutely gorgeous. Now when are we going to get Miyazaki to make games?
