It looks like a pretty, stylized version of tower defense, which leads me to believe you'll be, you know, defending. But it would really cool to have a monster mode in which you got to ... well, not defend.

I don't want to rain on anyones parade....but,
PixelRacers sucked. I bought a $500 uber game console to play this?
Sony needs to knock my socks off and throw some serious polygons around ala Warhawk.
derrickgott007 @ Sep 25th 2007 10:17AM
This game is already out...Called RAMPART.....
BORING!
Hak Foo @ Sep 25th 2007 10:29AM
PixelJunk Racers gets a lot of flack. I found and find it very entertaining. It is a $7 downloadable arcade game for goodness sakes. What were you expecting, GTA5 prologue?
I'm looking forward to all downloadable titles. They are cheap and provide me with quick, fun gaming sessions.
Egster @ Sep 25th 2007 10:36AM
FrankThe Crank you miss the entire point of these small, cheap PSN games.
Neil @ Sep 25th 2007 4:55PM
PixelJunk Racers was BORING and totally void of anything even remotely close to fun. Saying it's a $7 game means nothing to me, a game is either fun or it's not, and PixelJunk Racers isn't.....I have no interest in any other PixelJunk game.
T-P-M @ Sep 25th 2007 5:11PM
Wow Neil that's probably the dumbest thing I've heard all day! If you don't like PixelJunk Racers fair enough, but Monsters is obviously nothing like it. So how can you say you're not interested? Especially when you don't even know what it's about!
Neil @ Sep 25th 2007 6:52PM
@T-P-M
Its ok if you find my opinion dumb...happy I could help. But I can't help the fact that I have no faith in a brand....and PixelJunk is a brand that lost me...and these images haven't change that.

Im in the UK and wish they'd let me buy PixelJunk Racer, because i love the demo!
Sure it doesnt have the depth of 'tismo or GTA, but then anyone would be stupid to expect that. But playing the demo when it first came out had me wanting to play it over and over.
Maybe its because i used to love the top-down racing games which at the time was about as good as it got, when i heard it was lane racing my heart sunk a little, but having played it i love it. Its just a fun game, and has yet to put a great big smile on my face every time i get upto stupid hyper speeds and go crashing into something. Its great to just pick up and play for 15min and then get on with what you should be doing, there arent many pick up & play titles like that these days, less that you actually enjoy playing, so i for one am glad for PJR and will gladly hand over that 'extortionate' seven dollars or whatever we get charged on the EU store, its less than an hours pay for goodness sake.
scumbag @ Sep 26th 2007 1:12AM
It just looks like tower defence or rampart. but dont stop bring the cheap arcade games they cant all be to everyones taste and some are bound to be gold.
Consolcwby @ Sep 26th 2007 1:13AM
PixelJunk has great game screens - nice, crisp, clean, and stylized graphics... yet, I hope they will put out something with a unique (or fairly unique) game - instead of just milking old concepts. I truly wanted the Racers to be something fresh, but it just made me remember my old Atari games and realized I liked Activision's Grand Prix better. =S Maybe fl0w and GTHD spoiled me, but I was expecting something a little 'different' from PixelJunk. I really hope they come up with something great! =D
The screenshot looks like it COULD be a multiplayer computer version of that Werewolf party game... but it's prolly a crummy rampart knockoff. =/ I love me some arcade rampart, but I dunno about this one...
oldestr gamer @ Sep 26th 2007 7:36AM
Haven't played PixelJunk racer demo yet but will give it a drive. I think the PSN is pretty decent at providing original titles at a fair price.
