Nomura on PS3: "all your visions are belong to us"

Nope, not a direct quote, but worth slapping up nonetheless. Tetsuya Nomura gets yet another Famitsu interview and he once again remains as silent as ever on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but that's okay. We generally like surprises so long as they don't end up severing one of our limbs. Still, he talked a little about his involvement in the game and some about the PS3.

Nomura claims he's never been so deeply involved in the development of a game and enjoys the freedom to take FF Versus XIII wherever he wants. He reminded everyone also that this game is exclusively and only for the PlayStation 3, as the end of the TGS trailer (which we're not allowed to see yet) the phrase "on PS3 ONLY" appears. He says despite some fan disappointment, there are huge advantages to focusing on only one console.

About the PS3, Nomura seemed to gush a little bit. The hardware plays a huge part in both XIII titles, and by using it properly "all visions can come true". The visuals, he says, are above anything else seen in the franchise and are very close to perfection in his eyes. But really, if the graphics were worse than XII, we'd have a problem anyway. We're glad the Square Enix developers are finally screaming PlayStation 3 exclusivity for the big FInal Fantasy titles, as not having those exclusive was a source of fuel for those who wished failure upon Sony.

Awesome. I, for one am glad that this series is the hands of a very technically capable development team.

Most PS3 games from third parties are barely using the cells capabilities. Most (third party) programmers don't even use the SPEs, only using the PPU for ALL of the game's AI, physics, etc. Now if you think about, it's like running a geforce 8800 with stock windows XP drivers! Sure it will run, but the performance gap is amazing.

Well I hope that puts the final nail in the "omgzffxiiicomingto360" debate. I have a PS3, but still not many killer titles for me yet.

Don't bother, fanboy types arnt the ones who usually understand the obvious, they look for a small shred of evidence trying to breathe more life into thier prefered console, anything you say will simply be ignored or incite the usual "NO U" comment

I haven't bashed Nintendo anything. I OWN a Wii just like I've owned every single Nintendo console ever made.

So I'm the last person who would hate Nintendo and wish them failure. I'm glad they're Number 1.

But that doesn't make me blind to their idiotic moves and opinions when it comes to certain things regarding Gaming.

Thats the whole article that I READ. No where does it say TN says, "FFXIII is a ps3 exclusive".

I DO see where Nick says that TS said that its a ps3 exclusive and will disappoint fans.

Other than that nada...

However lets just say it is true. FFXIII is a ps3 exclusive. Okay then....we still don't know much about the game.

It could easily be overhyped like Heavenly Sword and Lair and then end up being average like all the other FF games.

Not to add to the fact that its probably not gonna come out during 08.

Finally I'll just rent the system or borrow it from somewhere to play the game once it comes out.

Not to mention I'll wait for the reviews before I make any judgment about whether the game is good or not...besides the uber sweet graphics.

Oh and one more things, you say that ff games are average. If you want to find average RPG go look at Blue Dragon or Enchanted Arms. There has not been a single crappy ff game. Even FF11, which is the online one is not crap. I just don't play online rpgs.

I think a good many of ff fans do own PS3, but also there is huge part of the gaming population still using their PS2s and have not upgraded yet. So this game will push those fans into buying a PS3. When MGS4 and FF13 comes out watch, PS3 will start outselling the 360.

That would lead me to say that the artilce does state exclusivity for the PS3.

@7: The trailer screams it. It may not be in the over-the-top, XXXXTREEEEME American style, but the simple fact of putting PS3 Only at the end of the trailer is a huge sign from a Japanese developer. It says "sorry to crush most honorable hopes and dreams, PS3 ftw."

LiasonAngel08: What on earth is your point here? Bungie never shouted from the rooftops that Halo 3 was 360 exclusive either, but I'd say chances are good that it will remain so. Considering that VII & X were system sellers, I'd say that Sony inked a deal regardless of what platform XIV comes out on. The same with MGS4.

Regardless, if you have kept up at all until this article, he is commenting on the videos they showed last week at Tokyo Game Show that said at the end of each that they were "ONLY FOR PLAYSTATION 3". So, if you don't see the exact words you need coming out of this interview as proof that they are exclusive, why don't you go hunt down one of the "FFXIII Trailer" news posts on any given video game site. Hell, I am sure a few Xbox sites even ran the story ;)
