Get your scissors ready: the Eye of Judgment plastic pak
This is merely a frivolous complaint -- but one we had to voice! The Eye of Judgment pack, which includes the Eye camera will come in those annoying plastic sealed packages. You know, the ones that require scissors to open? We've nearly lost a finger (or two) trying to open these, and it's sad to see that in order to get our hands on Sony's upcoming card game, we'll have to risk yet another appendage. Hopefully, it'll be worth it.
We kid (sort of). Regardless of packaging, we're excited for this innovative game. Go chew on these brand new screenshots in our updated gallery:

Looks like a Costco thing. I'll be forced to pick up a pail of onion dip and 20 gallons of laundry detergent at the same time.
derrickgott007 @ Sep 29th 2007 5:51PM
When are they releasing Eye Create??
Kattleox @ Sep 29th 2007 6:01PM
Costco indeed. I hope they have a Daxter pack at costco by the time this ships so I can blow all my hard earned cash in one fell swoop.

According to the original press release:
http://www.scee.presscentre.com/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=4365&NewsAreaID=2
perhaps any game that uses the Eye will have the software on that massive BD disk?
Or perhaps it'll be a downloadable released on the same day as launch?
Bourega @ Sep 29th 2007 6:22PM
That looks so damn 1337, I don't care about having to use scissors/lighter/keys :P

I hate those packages.
Another innovative game, I am slowly regaining my faith in Sony.

I have to agree about these packages. They're too hard to open, and sometimes I get hurt trying. It shouldn't be like that.
I mentioned this a friend of mine at Microsoft (who also uses the packages for a lot of Xbox 360 stuff) and they said that retailers such as Best Buy demand the tough plastic to prevent theft.
I say, we as consumers should make demands of retailers to stop using this type of plastic and find another alternative that's easier to open.
I mean, the food industry used to have plastic for hamburgers or whatnot-- but then switched due to complaints from consumers. Can't we get together and somehow get the game industry to follow suit?
I'm not an environmetalist or anything, but I'd really like to see this happen.

Doesn't everyone hate these plastic packages? Oh well,.

Yep, we'll have a beautiful box, not a plastic package like the USA ^^
Popfrogs @ Sep 29th 2007 7:38PM
I imagine the stand is in the back of the package. It's not real sexy so they hid it.
Tim Parsons @ Sep 29th 2007 8:23PM
@ 9 damn that is a Nice looking Package though it's whats inside that counts not the damn package LOL
Andy @ Sep 29th 2007 9:55PM

It's Called a Blister Pack, and everyone hates them.
WoLoCo @ Sep 30th 2007 4:22PM
I was hoping we will get something like this

That package is really COOL~
Deathalo @ Sep 30th 2007 5:42PM
I don't see how that could be the package. There are a lot more parts to the whole set than whats in that package. It doesn't look like it includes the PSeye stand or the mat you need to place the cards on. 2 essential parts needed to play the game... I doubt that's the real packaging, at least for most stores. I think it'll come in a box.
Consolcwby @ Sep 30th 2007 9:14PM
The best way to open blister packs is, drum roll please... (tatatata... ta!) Using a box-cutter! Only a few bucks at your local hardware store, and will save you countless fingers - just be sure to use a hard and flat surface that you're not too fond of to avoid injury, and take your time. =) I have not lost a finger yet! =P
Rodney L. @ Sep 30th 2007 10:25PM
Blister pack, yuk! My suggestion, Google OpenX and see if that works for you.
KosmoCrisis @ Oct 1st 2007 12:52AM
@ ALL
The mat is a flat cloth that can fit in the blister pack between the marketing inside. The stand is likely sticking out of the back of that package in its own little bubble since it comes in pieces and needs a little assembly. If this is the package, I predict right now a lot of people cutting through the cloth and bitching online, right here.
@ 15
Those guys are tools. The package is sweet, though likely an E3 exclusive. I repeat, those guys are TOOLS!
@16
I agree, and believe some places will get the box. This is most likely something you'd see at Costco.
KenshinSlayer @ Oct 1st 2007 2:04AM
Dude, can you imagine Yu-Gi-Oh on this? It would sell like CRAZY.
ill trooper @ Oct 2nd 2007 1:51AM
I think it's a good idea, as it will let people (re: parents, grandparents) see that they're actually getting a camera inside, instead of buying a game that will 'require a camera' that they can't be bothered to read about on the side of a box to confirm is actually IN said box. Holiday shopping panic can do that to people.
And I think the blister-pack might actually be better for the enviroment if people follow through with recycling it - possibly lighter for shipping and less use of natural resources like trees or recycled paper pulp. Any boxed version of this game will likly have a similar vacu-formed item to hold everything in place during shipping.
