Watch Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first level
After watching the first level of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, it's hard not to be blown away by the sheer graphical beauty Naughty Dog has been able to capture. At times, it really feels like you're watching a movie as Nathan shoots, punches, climbs and jumps his way throughout the level.
Andrew noted the game has come a long way since its E3 showing, and we can certainly tell. The most exciting part is Naughty Dog still has nearly two months for some fine tuning before it's set to ship.

wow looks amazing i never knew the ps3 could do this good and its still very early.
masterA @ Sep 30th 2007 11:58AM
look to me like boring Tombraider action with upgreaded graphics. Let me gues: you can only wait a few month until you understand how to solve some mysteries.
By the way: The video is very laggy
-viper- @ Sep 30th 2007 12:05PM
That was a poor attempt at trolling, 'masterA'.
I downloaded the 900mb HD video and there is absolutely no lag, no slow downs, and the game looks absolutely brilliant. The gameplay also looks improved, such as the shooting system.
I'll definitely be getting this game.

Oh yeah well Halo 3/Metroid looks to me like an upgraded Doom! Lulz.
The video doesn't do this game justice. It looks great, I don't know how it plays, the camera looks a bit shaky. I'll get it, so long as it doesn't bomb.
Justin @ Sep 30th 2007 12:35PM
@ -viper- where'd you get the HD version? I want to download it.
is it the one on gamersyde that's 895MB?
John @ Sep 30th 2007 12:44PM
This game looks freaking hard. I hope not a revisit of Jak2.
Emophia @ Sep 30th 2007 12:45PM
That AI looks pretty smart...

Just about every franchise is more or less an upgraded graphics and sometimes gameplay version of a previous release. At least Uncharted is a new one. Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia were very different in their acrobatic control, Uncharted is much more realistic in what Nathan Drake is able to do and can't do.
Frank @ Sep 30th 2007 12:53PM
Maybe it's just the guy playing, but the camera looks like it would get annoying. It seems fine if the people are in front of you, but when someone behind you is shooting at you it seems like you have to run blindly to find them.
Andy @ Sep 30th 2007 12:56PM
Anyone else think the blood makes this look worse than it is. The game is running gorgeously and them blame a blob of one tone blood ruins the scene.
Jakob @ Sep 30th 2007 1:03PM
#11 Yes agree with you, this game just look nice, but I think it's a little unrealistic, when he can jump from building to building, especially when he jumps LONG :)
jimfish @ Sep 30th 2007 1:20PM
It looks like it would be easy to get lost. And yeah, I agree that those blood spots that appear on the screen look stupid.
Andy @ Sep 30th 2007 1:32PM
What was that animal at 2:17?

remember this is still a VIDEO GAME. a very promising one at that

Remember this is still a VIDEO GAME..what fun is it when EVERYTHING is realistic? besides that...the game looks phenomenal. sony should feed more development into naughty dog to create games with a similar magnitude such as these.
Sammy @ Sep 30th 2007 3:25PM
I think it was a bird.
Looks fairly nice. I agree you can see slight problems with the difficulty it looks a little disorientating too. The frame rate looked fine, graphics sort of remind me of the first Crash Bandicoot...the scenery was always the most charming aspect of that game.
I imagine with an injection of variety in later levels it could be worthwhile even if the difficulty remains flawed.
I actually think it may benefit from a few quiet moments though. Pacing is very important. Look at ICO...you have beautiful scenery, a few moments occasionally to enjoy it would be great. Again I would like to see more puzzle mechanics...but I am sure they are in there.

I miss HDR lighting effects though. After heavenly sword, anything else looks a tad pale. And I hope it won't be as hard as it looks. I like games to be easy

This game looks pretty fun, and as of now its on my must buy list for november along with assassins creed. I'm not a fan of the blood on the screen tho, kind of takes away from the cinimatic feel of the game. Hopefully that is an option that can be turned off in the menu. By the looks of it this will be a AAA title for the ps3, which is good, it needs a few.
Ty @ Oct 2nd 2007 10:09PM
Well I didn't watch the entire thing but the duck and cover fighting realism mixed with Drake's interaction with his environment makes for a pretty sweet game.
Seeing as how this is a 3rd party game only says more games like this to come.
I hope to get a PS3 when this game comes out.
Naaiif @ Sep 30th 2007 7:37PM
It looks brilliant, and it's a must buy for me. I just wish it had multiplayer or co-op or something.
Don @ Oct 1st 2007 12:18AM
I can only get one game in the month of November and with all the great games coming out during that month, this is the game that I'm most interested in. All the other games will have to wait until after Christmas, Naughty Dog's done it again.
Byron517 @ Oct 1st 2007 12:22AM
I agree I think this game looks awesome!! I hope that nasty looking blood splatter will be taken off though.. it kinda killed it for me!
Adrian vG @ Oct 1st 2007 3:23AM
Not impressed - looks like a cross between Far Cry and Prince of Persia. The video also illustrates how hard it is to aim with the sixxaxis. I want the 360 controller for PS3!
