It's one of our less-creative headlines and the picture sucks, sure, but it gets the point across.
Fanatec has released a very accurate (we assume) racing peripheral for all your gaming needs, especially if you like to game in luxury. We'll get right to the features, some of which are cool and practical, others are cool and not as practical.
- Leather steering wheel!
- Wireless USB technology, where the USB plug is shaped sort of like a Porsche key. It's quite neat.
- 3 force feedback motors, so you can really feel the road.
- The pedals are wireless too, with clutch and soft-stop brake. Like you'd really get an automatic fake Porsche anyway.
- You get two gear sticks: a regular sequential and a 6+1 H-pattern stick. The latter is only supported on PS3 and PC.
What we find really neat is the quote at the bottom of the website: "Only available through Porsche dealers and here in our web shop." So, if you guys aren't comfortable ordering this thing online, get yourself in a nice suit and pretend to care about buying a fancy new Porsche, then buy this instead. It's
only $350, after all. Pretty cool for the upcoming
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, right?

well, I already have a REAL Porsche, and a girlfriend with enormous breasts, and millions of dollars... but I guess I could get this too.

Uh oh!I'm fairly certain that the 'wireless' key is not a wireless connector. Its a 1gb flash drive (hint: read the bottom of the page)

What Steven said.
It looks really nice but it's a bit too expensive for me.

And I quote: "Wireless USB technology which provides latency free signal transmission to the PC/Console and is very robust against interference (Power supply to wheel still needed)"

I think I like my G25 wheel better. iIt has everything this offers and more execpt for the wireless. I have it in a Playseat and have a buttkicker rumbler (tactle transducer) under the seat too.
Egster @ Oct 1st 2007 10:17AM
But it's not from Porshe hehe
brettjr @ Oct 1st 2007 10:43AM
lol, this is pretty stupid considering the fact that dumb ol' gran turismo doesn't have Porsches in the game.
Neo Senku @ Oct 1st 2007 10:49AM
yeah........$350 for that, i can use a controller to play my racing games just fine, its still really coolthough

Porsche has been in the game since Gran Turismo 2.
Here:
"RUF buys cars from Porsche and extensively modifies them. So much so that the German government considers RUF an independent manufacturer, since most of the original Porsche parts are replaced. This lets Sony get around the fact that EA has the exclusive Porsche license for its Need for Speed series..."

why not the LS2/LS7? @ Oct 1st 2007 12:21PM
Luigi:
Get a Logitech G25.
Two pedals, and a clutch. Paddle shifters and a stick which can be either a 6 forward + reverse (with mechanical lockout) shifter or a for/aft bump shifter. And I can tell by looking at this that the shifter is a lot better (can't speak for the wheel and pedals, even they they are fantastic on the G25).
And it has fantastic feel. It has two force feedback motors in a direct-drive config.
Go read the reviews. It's great.
The G25 works in existing games in GT-Force (GT4 wheel) emulation mode. This means you can't use the clutch or gated shifter, but the rest works. Newer games support more, the clutch even works in DiRT, but gated shifter still doesn't.
My only beef with the G25 is there aren't enough buttons on the wheel, they're all on a panel by the shifter.
rocky @ Oct 1st 2007 4:32PM
so just like bye another ps3!!!!! or dot bye an XBOX bye this Console!! hahhahahha!!! too much for my country
steboo @ Oct 1st 2007 4:18PM
Are there any games that even support a clutch?
MentalGunner @ Oct 1st 2007 4:42PM
@7 if this was made by porsche they would charge at least 3 grand for it.
Stephen Murray @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:15PM
I actually do drive a porsche...and i work for them too :)
it is not a Porsche Product, but the key is realistic!
Luigi @ Oct 3rd 2007 1:09AM
why not the LS2/LS7?:
I agree, I didn't even know about the G25 since I stopped buying racing wheels a while ago. But when I saw this Porsche one, I just wanted it. I'll probably get the G25 if it works with GT5 and GTAIV. Maybe even this year if the clutch and the gated shift work with GT5 Prologue.
