Warhawk goes $40 at retail, loses headset
Finally. A cheaper Warhawk will be available for the masses at retail later this month. By losing the headset, a new Blu-ray version of Warhawk will hit store shelves for $40, the same price as its digitally distributed counterpart. Some may ask, "what's the point?" While others, who may want to play the game on multiple systems, will cheer.

I like it... Already had a plantronics headset, and don't want the download. I'd rather have the disc.

ARRGH.... Sony screws us again...this is getting really old....I just got some extra cash bought the online version because I already had a headset last week now they strip the headset and put it on blu-ray! friggin sony...tempting me to put my ps3 up on ebay with this crap....
Trev @ Oct 1st 2007 1:54PM
ShawnShady, how did you get screwed? Same game for the same price?
Draco @ Oct 1st 2007 1:55PM
thats fine with me, I paid 39.99CDN at retail (BestBuy) with the headset, its a decent headset but hurts my ear.

DOH! I already bought the download version because I didn't need the headset (and $20 less is very enticing). But I would have really rather had a disc, so I could loan it to friends and so people could play on my PS3 with a different name. Plus it'd be good just to have a physical disc. Arrg!
Oh well, live and learn not to adopt early.

I paid $34.99 at BB. I can't figure out how to wear the headset properly and have the knob thing go in my ear, but whatever I don't really have a use for it anyway.

@ShawnShady wtf, boo frickin' hoo. prices of things change and so do deals, how is sony screwing you? It's not like sony is sitting in an evil lair plotting how to mess with your purchases, the prices of things change, I don't say I got screwed by dole when the price of bananas go down after a bought a bunch.
ShawnShady @ Oct 1st 2007 2:14PM
Trev,
Well, it would be nice to play the game on more than one profile, be able to take it to my friends house and be able to sell or trade it one day for a new game but now I can do none of that for the same price as retail! Great Deal!
ShawnShady @ Oct 1st 2007 2:20PM
Random1448, true enough, I'm just chaffed that I just bought the thing four days ago....argh...end rant.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. While it's great that they'll be pushing out an AA title for less money, it'll put more strain on the servers. The servers are running better but they're still not perfect (joining games, wacky rankings always changing).
I fought my way up to Wingman, then lost it all. Then I was a Recruit for a full day and got bounced up to some higher-than-Sergeant rank for awhile. Now I'm back at Sergeant. Seems like I'm wasting alot of time even though the game is alot of fun.
Stuff like the screwed up rankings also hurts rank-locked games. If you have to be lower than Wingman to join (noob matches) and you get rank-reset players like myself joining (not intentionally), then you just killed the level playing field. You end up with pros vs. joes even though people appear to be in the same ranking/experience category.
MYPS3KilledMy360 @ Oct 1st 2007 6:25PM
yeah! i already had a headset so i didnt see the point in the first place.
John @ Oct 1st 2007 10:05PM
This is a good idea, if I like the game and want my friends to play, I can always get a headset later. This was very smart.
However... I just rented it on Gamefly, so I'm going to play it without the headset for... free (my friend pays for my account)... :)
dragonric @ Oct 2nd 2007 2:22PM
The headset wasn't worth the price anyway. Not to mention, PSN users playing Warhawk almost never talk. They're boring ppl. All they want to do is hit and run, nothing else. How do they expect ppl to learn to play if that's all they do. No words, no comments, no banter.. and no help. Lose the headset, not a problem, give us a campaign, so we can at least learn to play the game.
