Heavenly Sword isn't the only game from Sony to feature extensive motion capture. The upcoming
Uncharted is all about believable characters in an unbelievable story, sort of like the classic "Indiana Jones" movies. This promotional video (which will be made available on the PS Store soon) highlights the extensive motion capture required for
Uncharted's cinematics. Just like
Heavenly Sword, the team at Naughty Dog wanted to get real actors to play the roles of these characters, and even had them ad-lib some of the lines, just to add the subtle nuances that only a real performance can bring.

So giving the female character bleach-blonde hair wasn't just to attract the Japanese? I'm sure she wasn't like that before the TGS trailer.

yea they changed her hair i think about a month back....they made a big deal out of it.
anyways, that producer woman should have someone else speak for her. she sounds like she wants to die.

So pretty. The graphics are unbelievable. Maybe people will stop doubting the power of the PS3. And the game might even be good.

This is Mos def on the list to pick up!
ryano @ Oct 4th 2007 11:47AM
i always, always wait for reviews to come out before i pick a game up no matter how good it looks. if this game plays as good as it looks, at least 15 hours long and has some replay value i might get it when i get a PS3.

Im looking forward to this game more than any other game on any console. Naughty Dog f*cking rocks.
Sora57 @ Oct 4th 2007 3:16PM
If this game is as good as it sounds and looks, it is a must-have for me. I also agree with ryano, though, and will read the reviews before buying. $50+ is too much to spend without hearing other people's experience with it. But I am psyched!

I am really not trying to rain on this parade, but I really dislike showing any type of "making of" when a game hasn't even been released yet. How do we know if it is any good? They are showing us all this making of material suckering us into believing that his a production rivaling a Hollywood movie...
Attention Sony, this is just a game. It is not the making of Citizen Kane. Show us gameplay footage, gameplay mechanics, also why should I bother to invest my money into a whole new IP. I really don't care of you hired a psuedo Hollywood director to direct this game as if were a movie. Where are the nerdy, geeky types? I can trust those guys in video game development, not some Kashmir sweater wearing DePalma wannabe.

Naughty Dog is definitely putting lots of effort into building a beautiful world, although Factor 5 did the same thing
Still, this looks like it will wind up much better than Lair did. Possible GOTY for PS3, and a strong contender for "Best Design" of 2007 (don't mind me, i follow IGN's awards, i think they have the best categories, giving no overall GOTY, but one per genre and then a few other technical and artistic categories, i think its the best system out there so far)
