Warhawk soundtrack available on iTunes next week
Lair won't be the only PS3 game soundtrack on iTunes. Next week, the soundtrack to Warhawk joins the growing list of downloadable game scores on Apple's music service.
Christopher Lennertz and Timothy Wynn both worked on the soundtrack, which was performed by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. The duo ended up recording over 100 minutes of music over the course of a 6-day period.
Adding such a symphonic score is no easy task, and the team at Incognito had to create a suitable way of applying the music to the gameplay experience. According to a 1UP report, it appears that the music is triggered by the amount of enemy fire near the player. "If a certain threshold of enemy gunfire is met, the combat music starts to play." Listen to samples of the soundtrack before its release at 1UP.

If there's 100 minutes of music, how come there's only a 2 minute loop in the online game menu, especially when it takes a half hour to enter a ranked game.

That's why I play Zones. It's easy to find good Zones players...CTF is a different story. Also why doesn't every single person playing this game have a headset yet?
Anyway I _love_ the action music. If you want to trigger it, find a serious firestorm of a battle (bridge #4 or something) and jump in a Warhawk and blaze straight up full throttle. I did that twice last night and was taking fire as I ascended, ended up with like 4 bars of Warhawk health..and the music made the experience so much more fun. I had to do it twice just for the swell.

I think that's cool, but at the same time, I would prefer to buy a CD of soundtracks. Not only have I just not liked iTunes, but I like having tangible media. I do like that they're releasing the music though. :)

This is great and all, but I wonder why Sony doesn't sell these Lair and Warhawk soundtracks on PSN too. I don't want iTunes installed on my computer.

Try killing a whole bunch of people real fast, or scoring 5-10 points in a matter of seconds. You get a huge swell of triumphant anthems cheering you on.
Makes you feel kingly, and then you get blowed up.

So it's now Tuesday, October 9 and the soundtrack is nowhere to be found on the US store... what gives?
