Live in a really hot apartment? Don't think your PS3 is fanning enough cool air into itself to continue normal operations? Well, user Dragonpower over at the
official PlayStation forums has a solution in progress for you -- a PS3 that's water-cooled ... literally! We can't even comprehend how this works, especially when looking at those menacing tubes and fans jutting out of his system. According to Dragonpower, the system runs at a cool 32 degrees Celsius under a heavy load, but the fans and such remain mostly silent. Hats off to this idea, really!

looks cooky, but hey, if it works..it works.
IMO PS3s don't overheat at an alarming enough rate to warrant this type of cooling system.
Perhaps another company who's product DOES overheat may be able to use this?
Can't imagine who though.

Looks fun. This is more of a hobby fun thing then a needed thing unless your a PC overclocker going for the record. Cool to see it done on the PS3 though.
More power to ya!

That is Sweeet!!
But I doubt you need all that with the PS3.
Now in the 360 That would work!!!
Ciaran @ Oct 8th 2007 6:27PM
Are you sure you've posted this in the right place Nick? :P
Titty Pink @ Oct 8th 2007 7:20PM
Ah damn, Nick's comment didn't make the cut. Oh well, yea, this thing is nowhere NEAR necessary. I'd much rather have a walkthrough on how to network my PS3 in with my PC so I can watch videos, drag and drop files, etc to my PS3. Anyone have one of those?
felman @ Oct 8th 2007 8:10PM
A waste. PS3 doesn't need to be cooled, the internal fans and heatsinks actually work. (surprise)

Makes me thirsty.
Egster @ Oct 8th 2007 8:26PM
Doesn't look very elegant.
Leo @ Oct 8th 2007 9:15PM
@Egster,
That's another reason why it should be on the 360!
Random1448 @ Oct 8th 2007 9:48PM
I've been thinking about something like this ever since they announced the PS3.
AmFamgs_Endes @ Oct 12th 2007 12:40AM
Reminds me of the Chimera for some reason..

Maybe US PS3s are low-noise but most EU units are very loud (not quite the jet-engine called Xbox 360, but not far either) - I personally know 6 people with PS3s which are all very noisy and from what I have read, the problem is very common i Europe.
So a good cooling solution for the PS3 could be useful in Europe atleast.
Egster @ Oct 9th 2007 3:57AM
@ Beano : I have heard about a Swedish guy complaining that his PS3 was louder than normal. But I have a European PS3 (Netherlands) and it's not loud at all. My PC makes three times the noise. Although the latter has 2 120 mm and one 80 mm fan which kinda increases the noise output.
Byron517 @ Oct 9th 2007 9:35AM
Whoever created this needs to sell it to Microsoft! THEY NEED IT!! LOL Looks cool though!!
konajinx @ Oct 9th 2007 12:09PM
Wow! A PS3 actually put to use! I see it still doesn't play any games, though. Oh wait, this is the DelayStation we're talking about here.
Justin @ Oct 9th 2007 12:15PM
@ 14...why aren't you playing Halo 3?
Wouldn't ya think it'd be more fun than posting on this site?
Or maybe you don't have a 360 at all...but blindly play follow the leader?
Who knows?

@TheForceUnleased08
I do admit that the PS3 doesn't have as many good games as the 360... But when you go to Gamerankings the PS3 has way more 80% and up games than the Wii, even if you just count exclusives...
bombos @ Oct 10th 2007 12:49AM
I suspect this has nothing to do with console-war flamebaiting, stock heatsinks, or overheating, or fan volume. Something much more sinister is afoot: ingenuity, the right set of tools, time and a passion.

I own a PS3, but, By far...
The ugliest effort to cool a PS3. You probably live in the desert the need to retrofit that "thing" to your PS3. Just a suggestion, paint your ps3 white to deflect heat, buy a mini frig, drill holes out the back and front, shove dry ice inside, leave inside a container of liquid nitrogen, form a protection of 9 inch hard ice around the frig and set four fans around each corner, leaving them on max all day long, while running your air conditioner at Artic level...I'm sure you'll have no trouble with overheating...
Gee-golly-willigers won't that be awsome! I just wanna laugh every time I look at the thing. Ugly, ugly, ugly...man, it's ugly...are you freak'n kidding me?!
