Uncharted box art and screenshots will make you say 'wow'
Isn't that some fine box art? Nathan Drake looks like a capable gunman, shotgun casually resting on his shoulder. The green of the jungle environment and the skull juxtaposed on it give it an alluring sense of adventure. This is quite compelling box art -- some of the best we've seen on PS3.
But that's not the only thing that looks good. New screenshots showcase Naughty Dog's incredible technology, taking full advantage of what the PS3 has to offer. It's undeniable: the game looks stunning, at least from a visual perspective. It won't be too long until gamers everywhere can try our Drake's first adventure.

WOW Looks really good, yay first!!!
Hovan316 @ Oct 12th 2007 3:13PM
This GAME IS a MUST GET for ALL PS3 OWNERS!!! A cross between Far Cry (PC), Toomb Raider with better graphics, better and new action, plus the nice movie theme touch (Indiana Jones anybody?).
I WILL pick this one up for sure!!!
psfan @ Oct 12th 2007 3:13PM
how soon can we expect the demo??
i have been looking at this game for a while now.
every time i see it seem to have gotten better and better.
ruibing @ Oct 12th 2007 3:24PM
Well the game is out November 20th, so it shouldn't be long until we see a demo. It would be good for them to provide a demo that contains most of the fine tuning they've made to the game since they started their Beta.
Solace @ Oct 12th 2007 3:27PM
packart has a total "Indiana Jones but updated" look. very cool.
as for the game, Naughty Dog never fails to disappoint (well, let's pretend that Jak-X never happened).
all i can say is it's going to be a really expensive holiday season.
clankman @ Oct 12th 2007 3:44PM
I've noticed Naughty Dog has kinda gone in a more violent direction as there games have progressed. You can really see it in the Jak series. The first seems kinda of kidish, but the rest seem to be more dark. But that box art is really nice.
Random1448 @ Oct 12th 2007 3:49PM
what's this? Decent box art? cool.

This game is going to be special. I always got this feeling that Naughty Dog and Insomniac had this friendly competition going on to challange one another. Insomniac has delivered with Resistance and I'm positive they will do the same with Rachet & Clank Future. That's why I have so much faith in what Naughty Dog is about to bring to the table. By the way, that Rachet Demo is awesome, and I can't wait to see what Naughty Dog does with Jak on the PS3.

I love the color in this game. I took one of the screenshots and made it my wallpaper on my computer at work. A co-worker commented on how beautiful the forest looked. I then told her it was from a videogame...all she did was give me a shocked look. This game will be great and I think it along with Ratchet and Clank will give PS3 owners the first real taste of the next gen.

@clankman
Considering one of ND's first games was "Way of the Warrior", a violent Mortal Kombat clone for 3D0, I'd say that they've just been returning to their roots.

For those asking about a demo: don't bother.
Naughty Dog has already gone on record as saying there will not be one. And does it really matter at this point? The game is only five weeks away from release.
Either way it's a slick looking product from a developer with an excellent track record. I imagine most would not need a demo to be convinced to purchase Uncharted.
Jevanzz @ Oct 12th 2007 4:36PM
Doesn't it come out on the 5th December for us Brits?
Livi70590 @ Oct 12th 2007 4:45PM
@2, Presumably elaborating on tomb raider by having controls that are possible to use?
@11, have naughty dog ever released a demo before a game?
@ everyone, Box art is not nearly subtle enough.
yeah i'm moaning but who cares?
upz @ Oct 12th 2007 4:59PM
Actually, Evan, I think Evan Wells said on the official PS Blog a couple days ago that they were currently working on a demo. Good news for us.
And the box art is awesome. Even better than this work in progress:

@11 & 13
According to the official PlayStation blog, Evan Wells (Co-Pres of Naughty Dog) said, "RE: Demo – Yes we will have a demo before the game hit’s the shelves, but we don’t have an exact date set yet."
So, looks like there will be one.
macview @ Oct 12th 2007 5:46PM
Any one else think this would make a good movie starring Nathan (firefly) Fillion?
preciousdeath @ Oct 12th 2007 6:01PM
Gives me warm fuzzies.
Mr Khan @ Oct 12th 2007 6:17PM
Certainly impressed by the effort Naughty Dog seems to be putting into this
They're going above and beyond here, but i'm interested to see how this game is recieved/sells

Good job Naughty Dog. I am definitely getting this one. :)
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Oct 12th 2007 8:49PM
Love the cover. This game is going to be great.

The box art is very good. I'm glad they went with a hand-painted style rather than some computer-rendered stuff. This is much in the vein of older (very) movie releases where a person would paint the poster, rather than using a photograph. This was used by Lucas for the early Star Wars, and it gives quite a different feel than simply a photograph or a goofy computer rendering (DMC).
I also like that the screen shots are actually in-game. What amazes me about these shots is the integrity of the background, particularly far-away pieces. Perspective is not diminished like in last generations, and there is enough "air particles" (fog, dispersed light, etc) that the rendered image just looks gorgeous, and that's IN-GAME.
I agree with Don, Naughty and Insomniac are my favorite developers. I wish there were freakin t's with their logos, I would certainly represent. Both of these companies are at the top of their game, and they have always delivered. These people are extremely talented and passionate, and both these companies have always made titles that could showoff a system at the limit of it's abilities. They have some of the best programming I've ever seen.
Yeah, for some reason, I never expected a demo. Who cares? This game is an easy buy.
Livi70590, I could almost take you seriously, but you didn't say why. What would need to be done differently? I thought a similar thing... the skull is too obvious, for example. However, I feel like it's okay, for a first release on a new system, and for buyers during the holidays who are grabbing things on first impressions, it tells them instantly what to expect.
Wow, upz, that link is a great example of how to go from goofy mundane boring to snap!
Solace, I seriously doubt that he said, "Hit is." You don't put an apostrophe on everything that ends in 's'.
macview, hells yes! Somebody knows about the Firefly!
Aweful @ Oct 12th 2007 10:57PM
I'm sorry but I really don't see what's so great about these screenshots. They seem to be using a very narrow dynamic range of colors, even Gears of War has more color than that. Awful, awful, awful. 0/10 from me.
macboy @ Oct 13th 2007 7:59PM
dam those screen shots look insane.. cant wait til theres at least a demo out...

@23 You can't have watched the stuff on the PSN of the devs talking about the game and the game running, it looks amazing.
Andy @ Oct 13th 2007 4:23PM
All Sony needs to advertise this holiday season is Uncharted and R&C and they will sell consoles.
Uncharted will be the game of the year
R&C will be the movie of the year (yes movie) because it looks like a Pixar movie and is fun to play.
Andy @ Oct 13th 2007 4:25PM

Wow, I really am a fanboy.
