Playing as the Predator in upcoming AvP game
With Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron behind them, Rebellion must now finish their next why-is-it-exclusive-to-PSP game, Alien vs. Predator. Yes, AvP holds a dear place to most PC gamer's hearts. Although Rebellion worked on the original, it appears the new PSP game will be quite different.
Speaking to IGN UK, the team reveals that the game is based off the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator film, entitled Requiem. Strange that the franchise has come full circle: it's a game based on a movie based on the game. Unlike the FPS originals, this third person shooter focuses solely on the Predators, and their desire to rid the Alien infestation on Earth. "As bad guys they do have some kind of code of honor that dictates who they think is worth fighting and who deserves sparing, and that is key to the game."
This honor is crucial to how the game plays: you must be ruthless against the Aliens, but killing innocent humans will lower your honor significantly. Predators must manage their energy, which can be used to heal ailments, and power weapons. They'll have access to different kind of vision modes, a la Syphon Filter. As with all movie tie-in games, we should still be skeptical of Alien vs. Predator, but at least we can see there's a lot of effort, and heart, being placed into this PSP exclusive.

Interesting. Hope they can pull it off and make it better than Predator: Concrete Jungle.

Oh, wow, that's beautiful. The Predators saving their sometimes-formidable human prey against the Alien scurge.

"You can customize your very own predator and take him into intense 16 persone online battles of epic proportions! Coming out early 2008; bundled with it's very own silver PSP with a black predator silkskreen! Sure to attract the ladies!"
Or maybe no...

I think concrete was awesome, i still have it.

I got annoyed at this too, during all the Star Wars: Battlefront articles. Stop calling them "why the heck are they exclusives" exclusives. Why?
1. The PSP is an awesome system which is more than capable of high quality games.
2. The PSP can use all the exclusives it can get. Sure Ratchet and Clank, and MGS:PO are stellar exclusives, but they're more the kind of game that a fan of the series would play; as opposed to the (more) casual gamer.
Seriously, and you call yourself a PSP fanboy.

Sorry to get all AvP fanboy on you guys, but the AvP movie was based on the successful graphic novel of the same name, not the PC game.
Definately looking forward to this game.

I too get annoyed when I read that remark over & over... but rather than looking at it as a putdown of the PSP, I now see it more as a nod to the PC game that was highly lauded. Hope those old PC gamers have PSPs.

Correction:
It's a game, based on a movie, based on a game, based on a comic book series.

@ Snailking.
The first AvP movie was not based on any game. If you read the graphic novel you'll see the similarities between it and the movie - i.e. The Predators seeding a planet with aliens in order to hunt them, and a predator forming a relationship with a woman who kicks ass. The graphic novel even has the predator scarring the womans face with alien blood to mark her as a hunter. There are also loads of visual nods to scenes from the graphic novel. The graphic novel was published years ago, like 1992 or something.
It just annoys me when people don't remember the original AvP concept was a comic/graphic novel, and not a game or movie. Not that there's anything wrong with game to movie to game adaptations.

Whatev, my point was the same as yours, that AvP started as a comic.
