PSN License Agreement updated - paving the way for things to come
Sony has recently been sending out emails requesting that PSN members check out the new End User License Agreement. The new, updated, agreement includes a load of new content. Specifically, this new new agreement includes rules and regulations for upcoming PSN features; restrictions on uploading vulgar or offensive content, spreading viruses or posting spam to other users. Obviously, this is most relevent for Home, but can also be linked to other games and services.
The updated EULA goes into effect on October the 30th. There has been some confusion with the version number of the EULA, which has been upgraded to 2.0. This has nothing to do with firmware version 2.0 and anyone expecting the mythical firmware update to come at the end of the month is setting themselves up for disappointment. What the new EULA does mean is that more exciting functionality for the PSN is on its way and that Sony are building their legal barriers just in case someone decides to get a bit saucy whilst playing Singstar in front of the PlayStation Eye.

i really do hope that sony's approach curbs what happens on the XBL but i don't think its that policeable without it becoming a forum run by high and mighty teens.
I think that a unified squelch method using the current block tools are the only way to go. Because you know ... a FUCK every here and there is expected in highly competitive game play.

Thanks for setting the record straight on the firmware - license agreement version numbering. Granted, firmware 2.0 could come out at the end of the month, but it'd have nothing to do with the version number on the license agreement... it's pure coincidence.
And I kept thinking it had to do with Home, forgot about Singstar. Granted, it does mention virtual communities, but they might as well throw that in there now too, rather than need another update.

@1 I don't have Warhawk, but I know I was once fragged by WhitePower666 while playing Resistance. Unfortunately, the anonymity the internet offers encourages some folks to be the bigoted a$$holes they always knew they could be.

whos getting saucy on singstar?? i would totally want to see that. :D
people that hack and manipulate multiplayer games suck the fun right out of the game. i.e. metal gear portable ops. instant head shot suck. stop hacking
use the gaming skills you homed from countless hours playing mortal kombat. super mario. 007. back when multiplayer ment the screen was split in two. no cheating no hacking.

you know, i actually read through the revised documentation a few days ago and it does seem to incorporate wording that language that could be connect to uses along the lines of home.
