Assassin's Creed PS3 skin only at Gamestop
Ever thought your PS3 was a bit ... bland? A bit boring? We're talking about the aesthetic quality of the box itself, not its functions or features. Frankly, we don't find ourselves staring at the machine long enough to really notice, but if you do then there are many ways that you can remedy the situation.
Gamestop is, from November 1st, offering a new Assassin's Creed skin. For a few weeks this will allow you to almost imagine that you have the game. "I have Assassin's Creed on PS3" you'll be able to say, without technically lying. The skin includes stickers which attach to the top and bottom of the PS3, so if you have your console sitting horizontally (as you should, really) then half of this skin just became moot. We're hoping that the stickers don't stay on permanently so that once the Assassin's Creed hype dies down you aren't stuck looking like you're stuck in the past.

I would never deface my PS3 with this...but it looks cool.
I'd put it on a notebook or something. Something cheap.
Solace @ Oct 16th 2007 4:39PM
nice to know the skin won't be delayed like the game! ;)
acefondu @ Oct 16th 2007 4:53PM
Notebook cheap? Quality notebook = $2,000+, PS3 = $600... Math was never my forte' but...
Titty Pink @ Oct 16th 2007 4:56PM
Maybe he meant a paper notebook...either way, tight as looking PS3!
Neil @ Oct 16th 2007 4:57PM
Lame....I guess there are people out there that would want this, but I'm definitely not one of them.
Dante @ Oct 16th 2007 4:57PM
very nice.....why did he say my ps3 should sit upright? did i miss a memo or something? is it bad laying sideways?
Torgo @ Oct 16th 2007 5:17PM
Heh, I wouldn't even consider putting those on my PS3 until, at least, I knew if the PS3 version of the game is even worth having.

@Dante: You're confusing horizontal with vertical.
XanthouS @ Oct 16th 2007 5:19PM
#3 made me facepalm. Hard.
If the word "notebook" honestly brings to mind a thin computer, and not a stack of lined paper bound by a metal wire, ya know, the type you scribbled into for 12-16 years, there is something seriously wrong with you.
hplcman @ Oct 17th 2007 11:05AM
Yeah. Really nice skin. But what is this about laying your PS3 horizontally? I have mine vertical (due to space constraints) and don't have an issue... Anyways, Sony wouldn't design it to stand on its side if it were bad for the PS3, right?
Maybe Jim just thinks it looks prettier laying horizontally?
#1FanBoy @ Oct 16th 2007 5:29PM
why is it better to have it lying flat? I have always hears that more heat gets out if it's sitting vertically.
Justin @ Oct 16th 2007 5:33PM
yep. meant paper notebook...as noted by 4 and 9
sfairall @ Oct 16th 2007 5:47PM
The PS3 draws in air fron the front and exits it via the top if you have it vertically. If it's sitting horozontally it just exits from the right side. As long as both intake and exit sides are free then it dosent really matter which way it sits. After all; the tons of PS3's that are dedicated Warhawk servers at SCEA headquarters are mounted horozontally...
sfairall @ Oct 16th 2007 5:50PM
oops, mis-spelled horizontally, twice! :-)
Andy @ Oct 16th 2007 5:54PM
I hate stickers because if they are slightly askew than the image looks stupid.
I have my PS3 lying flat/horizontally as well. I'm too worried someone will tip it over.
Rajab @ Oct 16th 2007 7:54PM
@15 I had that same concern until i found a stand for a couple of bucks that also holds 15 games or blu-ray's if you wish ;) Now not a problem and stable as
Jay @ Oct 16th 2007 6:47PM
My PS3 is erect err... vertical. I never had a problem with it. PS2 and Xbox360 should always be horizontal. It is the Disc tray that works better horizontal. PS3's slot loader is fantastic at any position.
H2Os @ Oct 16th 2007 10:46PM
Hey Torgo, love your podcast.
I'd put it on my ps3 if it was free. I certainly wouldn't pay for it. They should give this out for the people who pre-order it.
KEFIOX @ Oct 16th 2007 11:45PM
Hell Yeah! This is AWESOME! I'm definately picking this up. It will fit right in with my Limited Edition copy of Assassins Creed. 8)
