Sony Media Manager goes Pro, supports PSN downloads

Sony's Media Manager software allows PSP owners to easily transfer music, videos and save data between their PCs and PSP systems. Although we always believed the software should be bundled with the PSP for free, Sony is keen on charging a nominal fee for its use, rendering it much less attractive. Well, it looks like Media Manager is getting a significant update in its new "Pro" revision:- Windows Vista support
- PSN support - "This new feature lets you transfer downloadable PLAYSTATION Network games from your PC to the PSP system and back, including any Saved Data."
- FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Converter) support
- Backup mode, audio shuffle and search features.

So, does this mean the PSP is getting FLAC support? That'd be great if it did, especially if the PS3 got it as well.
Also, the US link says one can backup games downloaded from the PSN - there's no mention of downloading from the PSN (yet).

This is what I really DO hate about Sony - their greedy for charging for software that ought to be FREE for all to use, especially those who buy the hardware.
I've been hating this habit of theirs since I owned their CLIE line of PDAs in the early/mid part of this decade. There's no excuse for it. All proprietary software for ALL their hardware should be free and available.

I bought this software a year ago with my original psp-1000 for $30 US. Does anyone know if you can upgrade it to the new version?

I'm in the US, and last night I bought Sony Media Manager Pro from the US website. I just got my first PSP (a US "slim and light" one). I had no knowledge of this "news" about a new version of Sony Media Manager as in this article. Regardless, I ended up being able to by the download version for about $15 directly from Sony.
The version I got was Sony Media Manager PRO 2.5a

As far as I understand, this software will let you Backup and restore your PSN downloads, but I don't see where it says the software will be used to actually download the PSN titles.

Forgive me for asking: does this software allow you to transfer your DVD and music CD collection to the PSP?

when I have installed it and connect to the PSP it disable the possibility to load homebrew applications. I have firmware 3.52 M33 Update 2.
Does any other have the same problem?

The inability to run homebrew after a USB connection is due to a bug in 3.52 M33 Update 2. It caused the GAME150 and GAME352 folders to be deleted upon the USB access to the memory stick. Manually recreate the empty folders to run homebrew again or update to 3.52 M33-3 where the bug has been fixed.

Ok, so what is the very latest version of the Media Manager for PSP? Is it the one this page talks about, The Media Manager Pro or the one posted by Brad on 10/20 the Media Manager Pro 2.5a? Next question. I do not want to downnload it, I want to physically buy it boxed to give to my daughter as a Christmas gift-any ideas where I can buy the most recent or second most recent version? Thanks alot! Amy
