Japanese people seriously piss me off.
PS TRIPLE!! @ Oct 27th 2007 10:01PM
software demonstration, kinda like when they showcased Heavenly Sword's physics, well, i dunno, im probaly stating the obvious.
havs @ Oct 27th 2007 10:15PM
god forbid somebody make a game that NOBODY could ever have imagined, plus,
i heard the kataramari creator doesn't even like video games, he just thought it would be more fun to roll a ball around. suffice to say, this game shows potential, i don't think it'll ever have a point, but i'm sure the game will be chaotic as all hell
sasuke-kun @ Oct 27th 2007 10:34PM
ps3
popozao @ Oct 27th 2007 11:12PM
Shows potential. I think that this could be fun if put into some environment where you're able to interact with other physics-deformable objects. The main point of any game is to be fun, and I don't think Sony would allow this to be released if it wasn't fun in some way or another. Remember: this is the first time we've seen this game, so lets not pass judgement 'til we know more
AkAkmed @ Oct 27th 2007 11:50PM
that makes absoloutly no sense...
i'd rather get Katamari personally instead.
on another note:
why the hell is there an extra folder in the game section? a hint hint for 2.0?
i doubt it but, but it just makes me think, WTF?
SuperGayParade @ Oct 27th 2007 11:51PM
this is just a demonstration, as said above. I have high hopes for the guy, as he is very creative and could take this many places. Also, on the Wiki for the game, there's mention of a special controller that would resemble the boy, but who knows how true that is
Dru @ Oct 28th 2007 12:18AM
Fail.
Brandon @ Oct 28th 2007 12:36AM
It seems that what they showed was sort of a demonstration. Not the game in its entirety. Like how Phil last year showed a bike riding around in mud to demonstrate some of the technology used in motorstorm.
Also, we didn't get to hear any of what the people on stage were saying. So not only do we have any sort of frame of reference, we dont know what they were talking about. Imagine looking at Little Big Planet for the first time without hearing any of what the guys on stage were saying, it would seem kind of confusing.
Brandon @ Oct 28th 2007 12:39AM
Another thing, alot of the laughing was after something that was said. The video barely picked up any of the talking, and even if it did, it would all be in japanese.
sectionz @ Oct 28th 2007 12:50AM
nick you fail at observation ... and historical context.
in katamari the idea is to collect things
in this one its to collect things
the mechanic is to round them up. simple.
busboy33 @ Oct 28th 2007 12:57AM
@10:
Good guess. . . because that's all it is. I didn't see any collecting. I kept expecting it, but nothing happened. Impressive taffy physics though.
Kattleox @ Oct 28th 2007 1:10AM
@11
I think it's an excellent geuss. What do you do with farm animals? What do you do with boys made of taffy? You kill them and eat them, but you could ALSO use the boy made of taffy to organize animals. Coming from a man that thinks orginization is more fun than videogames, that wouldn't suprise me in the least and I'd possibly even put money on that. Although after it was announced, of course...
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Oct 28th 2007 1:18AM
I don't think you have a specific goal. You just mess around with a weird thing that can stretch like 40 feet.
Thats totally not weird....
Brandon @ Oct 28th 2007 9:47AM
@ 14
Trolling early this morning I see. The game isn't made by Sony, its just going to be on a sony platform. And we haven't seen enough to actually have any idea about what the game will actually be like. Not like you care about being logical anyway.
John @ Oct 28th 2007 11:31AM
Very interesting. We're seeing the early design control being tested out with the main interactive targets (characters as opposed to background), the developer getting a handle on these interactions...
I like the idea and the presentation a lot. That this weird "cat-dog" thing can fly by moving it's stumps of legs. It looks like you stretch to block or encircle things, you fly to get over obstacles.
I can also see a hilarious co-op where each person has one end of the "beast," and they have to work in harmony to achieve objectives.
This is exactly the type of new IP we need to see, where the main character manipulates matter and itself, among farm animals.
Video games can be fun and challening without having to emulate war.
John @ Oct 28th 2007 11:35AM
TehForceUnleased08 (apparently no longer leasing, but now Owning the Force) also stands for, as you will see, in future comments by him, "The F**K Up 08"-- he's the 8th one, and they still didn't get it right. No win for TFU08.
Kspraydad @ Oct 28th 2007 11:36AM
Stretchy Boys and Farm Animals....am I wrong to be excited by this?
Suueeeeeeeeeeee..come here Wilbur.
Genie @ Oct 28th 2007 11:48AM
At least the unique, creative new games will actually show up on the Playstation platform. That's half the reason I support a PS3.
Jonsend @ Oct 28th 2007 1:15PM
Hey guys, this video was actually filmed by me at the GameCity conference. It was just a conceptual demo and he joked about not knowing himself what he was going to do with it.
I've also put up some pictures from the keynote here:

i think its gonna be better than katamari...this game has huge potential...any word of when its to be released?
Shattercross @ Oct 28th 2007 9:05PM
@1
Wow, you registered here just to say that?
ted @ Oct 28th 2007 11:22PM
The character designs are very nice, can't really tell anything more about this sketchy stuff, Japanese design is so amazing! Let's flesh this thing out and see a totally unique PS3 title come out of Japan next year.
yzzlthtz @ Oct 29th 2007 1:02AM
neat. not sure if this is fun. it looks like the butt and the head are controlled separately? multiplayer seems to have a lot of potential. is it me, or are the nobi boys devouring some of the animals?
it's got potential.
fangelico @ Oct 29th 2007 7:44AM
well , Takahashi-san is a very creative person , i really like his work.
This game will be super fun , just like Katamari
TCampbell76 @ Oct 29th 2007 8:10AM
Looks interesting, although the crickets layered in the background I think was to give the idea of boredom for the video.
