Metal Gear Solid 4 delayed to Q2 2008

Konami promises that the delay will provide "greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide." Of course, it's difficult to compare these worldwide enjoyment levels without releasing the game twice so this may too be a lie. Have patience - there are enough games coming out this year to keep you busy until the middle of summer. MGS4 will be out before you know it. Unless it's delayed again.

What makes this hard to believe is that they were back and forth about whether or not it would be Q407 or Q108. At TGS they said December 07 and everyone went nuts. Now it's automatically Q208?
If this is true im willing to bet it's just like all the other titles lately. Company pushing back heavy hitters to give their other titles breathing room. It's all about finances. Why else would they say "we can use this time to improve the game" if they weren't on track to begin with? If the game itself caused the delay they would have cited that, but instead they act like the game didn't cause the delay, and that they will be using this extra time they've been given. JUST LIKE UT3.

Worth one play through. Bioshock. OK 2. Halo 3. Overrated, but I'll give you that as 3. There is nothing else thats out there that I can't get for the PS3 or would pull me off of Warhawk or NBA 2K8 (which is better on the PS3). Its effing over there champ. And Drakes, and MGS haven't even dropped yet. That sound you hear is the gap closing. Get onboard, you'll only need to buy ONE PS3...

Oh I know Illusion, I've done it myself...TWICE. Everyone I know with one of those POSes has done it at least once. They still swear by Gears and Halo though. I still remind them of how they only played Halo 2 the first year, and how we blew through Gears in 4 hours on the hard setting over pizza and beer. Sad.

Titty Pink, how am I full of shit? Check out the top selling games in the past 2 months. They have received highly acclaimed reviews from ALL critics. Bioshock ruled August, Halo ruled September, and Mass Effect will rule November (you can throw Assassins Creed in there too).
Halo overrated? Maybe cause of all the hype, but it still is an awesome game. I loved my PS2, but Sony screwed you guys over with PS3 :( I guess that's why you seem bitter and pissed off

Halo is overrated because the AI is ass, the story is weak at best, the multiplayer is the same old stuff, the matchmaking is terrible (how many times can YOU play sniper vs. shotty in a row?) and its graphically meh...and its a 10/10 or 9/10 in most reviews. Overrated. 10/10 games don't have those problems. That implies flawless. Reviewrs overlook this stuff for some reason, and fanboys just accept it. Sure, it sold mad copies. Good. I've been on the Halo train since the beginning. As Dave Chapelle said in the Prince skit "this bores me".
You're full of isht because you implied that the PS3 won't have enough games to keep a customer busy for the summer, and the 360 would. I don't see not playing Warhawk for a grip. I haven't even thought about picking up anything else seriously, and it's MAD shit coming out for the PS3. You fanboys lucked out with Lair, but Drakes Fortune will show you an undeniable look at what the PS3 can do and the 360 can't. The install base of the 360 will make Mass Effect sell mad copies, just like Gears. That doesn't make the game great though. 360 guys always bring up sales. I don't care how many other people play what I'm playing, but I DO care when a game is overhyped and is meh. Whats worse is when the fans KNOW it and still try to bash the competition as if their isht doesn't stink. I'm not bitter. I had a launch model, a LIVE update crashed it, got another, it RRoDed, got another, it scratched the shit out of my buddies Madden 08. Got another counting on getting Halo 3. Played it at a buddy's house and had to pass. That shit is SO overrated.
As far as feeling screwed, I feel M$ screwed me more by selling me a shit product. But I didn't have to buy it. If you mean games wise, I didn't play isht for my 360 for damn near a year (Gears) and IT was a 4 hour campaign. I played Fight Night for a while and retired the thing. You have fewer cool exclusives coming out for the 360. You have fewer noteworthy exclusives right now. Bio, Gears, Halo. And the ports are getting better on the PS3, at least the ones that matter. Oblivion, R6:Vegas (even the online is more balanced, NBA 2K8, Madden you can have, it STILL sucks on either system. I had a launch PS2 as well, and the first year of the PS3 has been leaps and bounds better than the PS2 entry year. I just don't see what all of the fuss is about...

I'll chime in again because I'm bored.
As far as I'm concerned, with all the exclusives we have coming out this holiday season, I won't have time to play MGS4 anyway. It just wouldn't be fair for Konami to drop a megaton nuke like this on all other games. I feel Konami is doing everyone a big favor by delaying it, plus it gives them time to polish it up.
I'm still playing R&C, Eye of Judgment, Warhawk, R6: Vegas, Oblivion... I have a whole stack of games I haven't finished yet. And I'm about to add to that stack with Uncharted, Haze, and one of the other 29 games due out before year's end.
Xbots, don't feel pity for us, we will be swimming in BR discs before this holiday season is over. Oh, what's that you're playing? One of 4 games. Good for you guys, good for you. :)

This sucks, but Ryan Payton on the Kojima Production Report had mentioned they may change some things after the got feedback from the demo at E for All. In the end the game is getting better.

Your fanboyism is clouding your judgment. If you think Halo 3's AI is weak that is because you are playing on easy, crank it up to heroic or Legendary and you'll see that the AI is far from dumb. And if you'll remember Halo 3 received smartest AI at E3 from EGM magazine. I know you are just trying to strike out at the biggest target but try to come up with a reasonable argument next time. Of course I don't know why I would expect an intelligent unbiased opinion from someone named Titty pink.

@BlackBeltJones: EGM is about as reliable in their reviews and commentary as the X360's cooling system - spotty at best. I've hated EGM for years - I can't wait til the plug is pulled on that POS rag. I miss the days when a decent review was at least 2 pages of solid text - not a 3 paragraphs per 3 people saying: Well, you know, [previous reviewer name] is right... it's like journalistic masturbating. I hate them.
@TittyPink: Let people enjoy their games! Even if they are POS! I will freely attest to playing the Spice Girls PSOne game many many years ago... made me laugh... for a week... then I went back to Gran Turismo 1. These are the same outlets that tried telling us over and over that Xbox 1 was somehow going to overtake PS2 in total sales. Yeah...that happened.

I apologize for not addressing everything you brought up during your post, I was at work and I tend not to write extremely lengthy posts on blogs, but for you I'll make an exception.
As for the Halo's driving AI I have no idea, either I or a co-op buddy did the driving. I was referring to Halo's enemy AI, which when it comes to an FPS tends to be the most important. Since you have played on Heroic then you know that this is one of the shinning gems (even more so on Legendary), Brutes use their equipment effectivley (sometimes annoyingly so), enemies are intelligent in their movements and formations. As far as matchmaking this is a time when you are just wrong, Halo is seen as the industries golden standard when it comes to matchmaking. If you had continued playing Halo multiplayer you would know that the shoddy sniper frequency was something the entire internet complained about and bungie fixed about 1 week after launch.
Graphically Halo while not the best of all time (See: Crysis) is polished, beautiful, and fits it's universe (it's always been more of a purple and green game instead of an ultra realistic Gears of War grey). The game even passes the virtual suns light through virtual gases to create the blue sky and simulate atmosphere (you may have seen the video during the H3 beta of the banshee flying into the atmosphere and the sky steadily becoming darker until he was in space).
When it comes to scoring games it is very subjective to the reviewer and what the believe a 10 to be. Personally I believe no game will ever be perfect (except maybe Monkey Island) but for me that doesn't mean a game doesn't deserve a 10. A 10 is a great game that might have a couple of flaws but deserves to stand out, and I believe most writers and sites that use a scale of 1-10 (and especially 1-5) share that belief. On the other hand, sites that use a scale of 1-100 seem to adhere more to the belief that 100 means flawless, different strokes for different folks.
Was Halo 3 overhyped? With mountain dew, burger king meals, and monday night football world premiere commercials it's impossible to say it wasn't, but is it a terrible thing? My parents only know three things about video games, NES, Super Mario Bros., and Halo. Gaming is a young medium and is still trying to break free of the "only for kids" image, anything that can bring positive attention to the public eye is good. When nightly news stations are reporting on the launch of a video game it's a good thing for the industry and in turn us gamers. It's just one more step toward video games being seen as a legitimate pastime and an end to all these witch hunts (See: Manhunt 2) and retarded legislation to try and boost politician's poll numbers.

No apology necessary dude, you're entitled to your opinion. I won't say you're "wrong" but I WILL point out the differences in our opinions. Don't take it too personally dude, I just need better understanding. As I said, my own experience may not be enough for me to form an opinion when it comes to the cream of the 360s crop. Sometimes I need a fanboy to put me in my place...still waiting for that day.
Anyways, I wasn't talking about the pre-Halo hype, I'm talking about the post release reviews. It has nothing to do with Mountain Dew, and everything to do with people overlooking glaring flaws in order to give a game a perfect score.
Gold standard? The gold standard would be a player saying I want TS, No radar, all weapons types, on this level, at this skill level...and get results...kinda like WARHAWK (minus the weapons). If I love a certain level, I should be able to say, I just want CTF on X level. Hell Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Xbox allowed that. No RADAR games also have constrictions. Even on RB 6 Vegas I can make my games less random. Its a fucking crap shoot as to what you're getting into. I think you know that as well. For a game to be based on multiplayer prowess you HAVE to give me that to score the title at a 10. Hell you don't even "finish the fight". The graphics are good. I mean they aren't great considering the 10 and 9 scores that abound, but they are no where near avg. I used the sniper shotty as an example, but I played yesterday, and got CTF on snowbound 4 times in a row. My gripe is I have no real choice in the matter. Not a gold standard. This IS a pay service. Maybe I expect too much, but as I said, this shit has been done generations ago. Hell is Golden Eye I could do power weapons in the library all day if I wanted.
Bottom line is this game is an 8 at best, which is NOT a bad score. Its above average with some flaws that don't kill the title, but are enough to keep it from elite status. The title Halo somehow propelled this thing above all competitors without anyone taking a serious look at the damn thing. I've yet to have a 360 guy tell me what all of these great games are that I'm apparently missing out on. Played/beat Bio, Gears, Halo on difficult settings (higher than normal). Still was wishing I was playing Warhawk. I think Cartman said it best in the South Park movie, "whats the big fuckin deal bitch?"
