Rumor: Hackers unlock Manhunt 2's censored content

Evoking bad memories of the past, a group of Russian hackers have reportedly hacked the PSP's retail version of Manhunt 2 to unlock the game's censored content. However, unlike the highly publicized "Hot Coffee" mod, you don't need a third-party device to access the content, only a homebrew-enabled PSP and the modification a few configuration files.

If word of this gets out to the mainstream media, it's possible Rockstar could face yet another row of bad press and costly lawsuits. God forbid anyone dressing up as a scientist turned mental patient and going on a dismemberment spree.

Since GTA: San Andreas had a nifty name for its mod, we've come up with one of our own - the "Hot Man Coffee Hunt."

Considering that this process involves deleting 5 lines from 2 files, I can only assume that this was all a planned stunt by Rockstar for publicity.

I agree. There is no way that after the Hot Coffee saga that Rockstar would let the code "accidentally" remain in the game. This is a publicity stunt as well as a way to get the game the way Rockstar intended it to be into the hands of the public. Is there any word that the other versions of the game can be hacked to access the "removed" content?

Its true I am playing the uncensored version right now, and it is very easy to do all you need is UMDgen and notepad.

The key here is that you have to have broken Sony's EULA before even attempting to do this. Its not nearly as simple of a hack as you might think becuase it requires everything to be done to a psp to make it home brew capable before the edited game can be played.

Tell that to everyone that bought a copy of GTA or Lumines, not to play, but to hack their PSP's. Seesh, I know people that bought LocoRoco and Lumines just to attract/keep the attention of girls. It's pretty sad, really, but alot of games have several reasons that they are purchased (Simpsons "game", the aforementioned GTA and Lumines) that have absolutely nothing to do with playing at all.

Remember that they had to quickly patch the game to get the ESRB M rating. They didn't rewrite the whole game. All they did was just add graphic filter over the killing video sequences. So this hack just removes the filter.

And editor, I think "Blood Coffee" would have been a better hack name.

Wait a minute, so installing homebrew software is in no way using a third party "device" to gain access to it? I would say that homebrew constitutes third party, and a lot more work than the Hot Coffee mod did.

I also think that "Hot Wrench" sounds a heck of a lot better than "Hot Man Coffee Hunt."

@7 haha yeah that kind of came out wrong. I meant that I would buy the game and go through all these loop holes just to see this uncensored content. Plus this is a good way to get me to pick up this version over the wii one

I doubt whether simply removing the graphical filter solely would produce the original "uncensored" version, coz the filter hasn't really changed the tone of the game or made the execution much less violent. On the contrary, it renders the killing process more artistic, which makes it more of a feature that is forced to be turned on maybe due to censorship reasons. The problem is, what does the original version really look like? Only those who had experienced that particular version may know.

I followed the steps to the letter, yet my edited iso is no good, any thoughts? Any videos yet, or tutorials with pics? What about the spacing between non deleted lines in the .ini code, is that important?

They should have just left it AO and none of this would be an issue. I can walk in to any BestBuy and grab an R movie or a CD with "explicit lyrics" or one of those "X" rated Playboy car wash or whatever DVD's so what's the big deal about an AO game? The whole reason the industry agreed to the rating system was so they could get away scott-free with anything they wanted to without suffering idiotic law suits and liability noise. So why don't they already?
