Uncharted's Halloween trailer features no pumpkins, only awesomeness
Despite Uncharted's Halloween trailer having nothing to do with the holiday itself, it certainly adds to our crush over Naughty Dog's new title. The new video, which shows off the game's amazingly beautiful levels and environments, also adds a bit more details about the game's storyline.
After watching the video, it's hard not to come away thinking it will be one of the PS3's most epic titles to date, and with Uncharted's demo due to hit the Playstation Network a week or so before the game's release, November just became our favorite month of the year.

yeah, uncharted looks cool. but i can't help but notice that all of these trailers look like in-engine cut scenes. eager to see how much we actually get to play of this game!!
sami @ Oct 31st 2007 7:17PM
wow the music is really good! is this a proprietary piece or is it a song from an actual band? it would be great if somebody could let me know what it's called!

I will have to wait for the PSN download because gametrailers.com does a horrible job compressing and streaming their videos. I really don't think its the game that is stuttering, pausing, and runing slow and pixelated with the sound popping in and out. If I was Naughty Dog, I would get websites to pull their crappy streaming of their game trailers.
Other then that, the game looks awesome (and I hope runs without a hitch either)>

For not featuring anything truly scary, it gave me chills when I watched it. The narrative was good and the environments were quite atmospheric.

What? You mean this wasn't a movie trailer for theaters. Damm, that is one sexy lookin game. PS3 is on the prowl and ready to destroy the competition.

@aiden: In games the story is usually told mostly through cut-scenes. The gameplay, tho IS the thing: http://palgn.com.au/article.php?title=Naughty+Dog+Interview+Part+Two&id=9226&sid=1a233a64cb1f056487d03b89666158ec
How big will the difference be between this game and other games using cutscenes? No one knows now, but then again, as long as it plays well - who cares? =) Games + Story = Modern games... Unless you prefer Asteroids, Mario Bros., or Pitfall.... =/

I hope the puzzles are as fun as the ones in Ico. ;)
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Oct 31st 2007 8:43PM

@sami
The music is "Massive Attack" -- I don't know the name of the tune off hand, but it's from one of their earlier albums
Can't wait for this game

@5 It's an instrumental version of a song called "Dissolved Girl" by Massive Attack
Lord Zaos @ Oct 31st 2007 11:27PM

You hear that? No? Good. It's the sound of 360 owners everywhere, jaws dropped and silenced. I want this game. Now.

I have attempted posting a comment to this 3 times, and every time, it's denied. I've also attempted posting to the R&C review comment section, it too is denied. But small paragraphs seem to be accepted. ps3fanboy better research these problems, or they're going to come off as Pravda.

Wow, this is SO professional. The music, the live shots using the game-engine, the voice-over... when he was first talking, I was struck by how well done the voice was, even if what he was saying seemed a little corny... but then we see that he's simply reading what the guy before him, wrote, and the context is instantly transported to another level. Suddenly a much larger window is opened, and in that small space we get a historical setup, along with a great, emotive voice, and even the script lends itself to being somehow out of this time... a perfect juxtaposition to the colloquial language of the actual player, and again a nice reference shot to history.
The use of lighting was always a strong suit with the Jak and Daxter games. While Ratchet would end up the more prettier and polished and instantly accessible, the Jak series always had a deeper display system, and you can see that here, as well. The artists working on this have a very good understanding of lighting, atmosphere, camera angles---
Notice too that the engine, even with massive pans outward and around, never flinches. It's obvious that this is very good, steady code. It handles whatever they throw at it, and doesn't hiccup-- this is even more amazing considering the sheer detail of these environments. Jungle? Forest? Trees? Crazy lighting, lens angles, pan, and zooming? No prob.
I wasn't too excited about this game until recently, now I know, just like Ratchet and Clank, I'm buying on day 1.
That's gonna be two awesome games in my library. I normally rent everything.

*jaw drops* wow...

It appears that, for some reason, your comment triggered the language filter even though there were no harsh words in your post. I manually activated your and everyone else's comments that needed it.

For the record, the song is on my favorite album, so I'm obligated to buy the game I guess.
