It's a wonderful world: the Ratchet & Clank ad
It's a departure from the usual Ratchet & Clank ads, but we're still digging it. Scenes of destruction from the game's opening Metropolis level play with the "What a Wonderful World" tune playing the background. We're not quite sure why the scenes had to be pre-rendered; the in-game graphics are more than capable enough to convey a similarly animated feel. Regardless, it's a beautiful ad that only illustrates further the refocused commitment of the PlayStation advertising team.

the taglines "only on Playsation 3" and "starting at $399" are really whats making these ads 'pop'.
I'm liking this.

I love the add, make ya think that sony knows what there doing.
Not long to go now before the ps3 really starts to take off and the rip 360.

not as amusing as "Jimmy's a chicken", but likable none the less.
with the other new TV spot, it feels like they're really ready to get back in the game, so to speak.

This seems to emphasis on titles that suit the whole family (note it saying for everyone 10 and up). The other ad had a lot more punch but I find it hard to imagine a mom buying that for a kid, but I can see that happening here.

I wonder when I'll see these on TV?
I saw an Eye of Judgment commercial and a Heavenly Sword commercial. That's about it so far.

Ratchet doing his thing to The Ramones... classic.

It really is hard to tell if its pre-rendered or not... not because the add looks bad, but because the game looks so great. Really makes ya wonder what the games will look like in 5 years.

i saw the full commercial once but ive seen the shortened version a whole bunch of times and i have to say i really like the direction their heading. this is the type of commercial that can get people interested in the PS3. and i only watch NBC(Heros and Scrubs), Cartoon Network(Adult Swim), Comedy Central(Southpark, stand up and sketch comedy) and ESPN so i'm guessing it was on one of those channels that i saw it.

oh yea. i was curious as to why they went with pre-rendered stuff too. that was the first thing i noticed when i saw the commercial on tv. i don't know. it looks great either way though.

Is it pre-rendered? I can't tell anymore.
That said, I'm really really really vastly more impressed with the new Sony marketing efforts.

Comes to show the cinematographic pursuit of the game, meaning the fact that the game looks more like a movie than a videogame -as the New York Times I think was it mention in it's article.

The title of the song is actually "What a Wonderful World" originally made famous by the great Louis Armstrong and sung here by Joey Ramone on his only solo album just before he died.... might wanna change that headline.
Random1448 @ Nov 2nd 2007 1:38PM
They're not pre-rendered fools, don't you listen to the full moon show. They just used different sharers it's still the game engine.
