Huge collection of new Gran Turismo 5 Prologue images

To mix things up a bit, we've snuck a photograph taken at a racetrack into the gallery. First person to find it wins a grand selection of prizes which, sadly, don't actually exist. It will be a fun exercise in futility, nonetheless. The gallery can be found below - go and have a look.

or you could just download the japanese version of the demo and not worry about looking at pics...

There is no photograph :) all are screenshots from GT:P
Nice try ;)

Yeah, definitely all GT from what I can tell (after looking at them all for around ten minutes).

I hope in saying that this was an exercise in futility, you only meant that this was extremely challenging and not actually impossible. I say this because I just spent the last couple of minutes looking at each of these damn pictures. They all look like they're from the game but if I had to choose one, I'd say this one was the most realistic looking (albeit the shading seems a little too perfect).

i thought it was this one, except the grass in the bottom left looks fake. the trees in the background are ridiculous though. i swear that is real trees in the background, just look at the mountain.

so then i bet it is this one, because the grass actually looks real .http://playstation.joystiq.com/photos/gran-turismo-5/471089/

Very nice, but you're missing a Corvette...

mccomber, thanks for my supply of wallpapers for the next month or so. Delicious images.
Prologue still looks a little sterile, but then it's basically goint to be a multiplayer Beta, so I expect the full GT5 to have lots more of the fantastic lighting Polyphony are peerless at, and some nice post-processing effects to take a little of the "clean" off.

This is the real photo!

@5 The grass on the second one does look more real, but the glare from the roof does not.
Catdogburger @ Nov 3rd 2007 11:22AM
Japanese demo was sweet, and it does look this good...back on topic
@5 (matjet) you are right that car is the "actual car"
the difference if you really want to know, isn't just the grass, but the windshield wiper fluid thingys, the tiny things where the windshield wiper fluid comes out of, that photo is the only photo i have seen in the whole GT5 game that has those, and its fake. lol
just look at the difference between 2 of them
1)with the windshield wiper fluid thingys
http://playstation.joystiq.com/photos/gran-turismo-5/471089/
2)without them from a car in the game
http://playstation.joystiq.com/photos/gran-turismo-5/471067/
you can clearly see that the developers didn't really have to add them....so why should they?, to make it a realistic as possible?
well I for one, no matter how good the resolution, quality, animation is still animation, its fake,
nobody can sit hre a say theres no diffrence because there is.
But i will have to admit GT5 is as close as it comes to really trying to guess if its a real car or not :P

I totally failed this. The only one that I thought might not be game was the 2nd to last, the dark Lexus. But even the game ones were sometimes tricky. However, the shading/lighting on the wheels of the car was often the only thing to give it away, and sometimes tail lights and headlights, but still... whoa.
Anthony Pittarelli @ Nov 3rd 2007 4:29PM
this looks absolutely unbeleivable!

Your wrong. Look at this picture of the 135i, in which you can clearly see the driver has GranTurismo on his helmet: http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/playstation.joystiq.com/media/2007/11/135_002.jpg
It has the washer jets. All the photos are fake, if you look real closely they all have drivers with the GranTurismo logo somewhere on their suit.

CAN ANYONE GET THIS TO ANYONE THAT CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT'S BEING DEMO'D?
They need to show is more in car video... that's what the game is all about. I don't know if you sit and watch replay after replay, but having replay shots is useless -- just like the GT2 it needs to be about game play and feel.
BTW... in car looks insanely good... that's another reason that I want to see more... ;)

@10
Both shots are fake. They have the same shadowing and the camera angle is the exact same that can only be taken from the game.
I have the japanese demo and although the gameplay is excellent (better than GTHD) the game doesn't look as good as those screenshots. This will be due to the fact that those screenshots will be taken from 1080p than as you can see those pics a small. However the game runs on my TV in 1080i it still looks amazing. But the one thing that bothers me is the game is dark. I messed with the TV settings and couldn't improve this. The shadows are really black and there is no variation of darkness with the shadows, all shadows are the same blackness. I'm sure this will not be in the final prologue game or it actually could be my TV, my TV is a Sony bravia. I turned off the full RGB for the HDMI and this helped a little.
