Capcom unveils the Devil May Cry 4 collector's edition

The bonus DVD will contain a "making of" feature, music from the soundtrack, a "digital" art book as well as wallpapers, icons and screen savers for your PC. Of course, we're at a loss as to why Capcom didn't put in an actual art book. We'd much rather spend extra money on a physical paper-and-glue version than a PC-only DVD full of images. Still, collector's editions are always good fun. We're just not sure that this one is worth the extra money.

Bought!
ryano @ Nov 5th 2007 10:25AM
shouldn't this all come on a single blu-ray?
ryano @ Nov 5th 2007 10:27AM
and $20 extra for a collector's edition is way too much. $10 seems more fittng I think. Cool case though.
Jevanzz @ Nov 5th 2007 10:48AM
@2 Unless you have a Blu-ray compatible disc drive in your PC, which 90% of us don't, you wouldn't be able to access any of the soundtrack or wallpapers for your PC.
I like DMC, but I don't think I'll be getting this, maybe just the regular one.
Shattercross @ Nov 5th 2007 10:48AM
I'm assuming they put the bonuses on DVD because of the screensavers.

Why the extra extra $10. $80 bucks for some screen savers? I want some action figures. Or maybe include the PSP port of the first game. That would make it totally worth it.

So... $20 (not $10, $20) more for a bunch of crap? No thanks, Capcom. I'll still buy the regular game though.

Funny that the box are for the X version says ONLY ON XBOX?

Way to use Blu-Ray to its full advantage. Including two DVDs of extra content??? Why not embed this content into the game, unlock it when you reach certain goals. Is it more costly to master two versions of the Blu-Ray game, one with the extra content, compared to including two different DVD's? And meh to screen-savers. That fad has been long played out. Have your screen turn off after 10 minutes, you don't need something swirling in the background wasting energy when there is nobody to look at it, or at least include a special password to download this content online if you get the collector's edition.
This is an excellent opportunity to promote the idea the Blu-ray is ideal for next-gen gaming, by having everything avialable on one disk rather then having to include afterthoughts of bonus content on last-gen formats. They can keep their special edition.

not worth it! I don't want any collectors edition for PS3 that has a "DVD" in the package! No... give me those anime episodes on Blu Ray please.. HD
Mark Gubarenko @ Nov 5th 2007 12:10PM
like this line with "Collector's Edition".
bought stranglehold, ordered assassin's & will buy this one as well. c'mon, just 20 bucks and you'll get smth exclusive.
ryano @ Nov 5th 2007 12:10PM
actually I reconsider. the 360fanboy site says the anime is the first volume in a series. It's value is worth $29 so I think the collector's edition is actually fine at $80.
PC content can be download off the net anyway. (as can the anime but tuff luck finding it anytime soon).
Most of the content should've come on blu-ray tho.

so far no collecter's editions have interested me, except the gta4 collectors edition. i dont want a bunch of crappy making of features and art for $20 extra, not even $10 extra. god of war 2 did it right and made it standard price will all that extra crap already in it at no extra cost.
if they are gonna make a collectors edition, atleast put something worth while like assassins creed or halo3, but even those i dont want.
hey lll buy an MGS4 C.E. if it comes with that $150 raiden action figure hah.
Emophia @ Nov 5th 2007 2:36PM
What happened to the special edition with the model Ebody and Ivory handguns?
I will get this anyways... But that's because I'm a Dante whore...
comtar @ Nov 5th 2007 5:52PM
I was the first to comment, I said "Bought!" and was a little surprised to see practically no one agrees with me.
To me this is sold, I collect game soundtracks, 4 episodes of an anime and a soundtrack is well worth the 20$ difference cause you'd probably spend about 30$ for the Anime DVD and another $30 for the soundtrack... I don't know I like this idea.
And I don't care if the DVD isn't in HD, that's not a big deal to me. Handdrawn art is one of those things that upscaled doesn't look entirely too different from HD. I mean, are Anime fanboys really that direly in need of High Definition streaking line backgrounds when Dante moves fast? Or are they just praying for High Definition anime Mary or Trish naked?
craig @ Nov 7th 2007 10:52PM
That is one extremely ugly cover. Why not put the extras on a single blu ray?
RPG @ Nov 6th 2007 12:01AM
@15
Lady and Trish naked in HD...covered in hot oil...rubbing against...things...
...yeah...
I'm going to get it for exactly the same reasons you are though. Its just nice to have, especially when you ask for it as a gift and not pay for it yourself.
