IGN launching "PlayStation Network Portal"

If you're a casual reader of the website IGN, you may have stumbled across this web page. It's a new portal for the PlayStation Network, ostensibly, so we can assume IGN and Sony have partnered up to develop some sort of exclusive news site. The format has some stuff up, but most text is in the default pseudo-Latin text. Basically, the site isn't ready it. If our intuition tells us anything, this site will probably be "ready" when the elusive firmware 2.00 is also "ready". Since this site is pretty far along, who knows. Could be soon.

Well that explains that mysterious logo that was filed for copyright a few months back.
Bearskopff @ Nov 6th 2007 5:27PM
Ooo, it's getting exciting now!

Good ole' Lorem Ipsum. Oh, it's a web design thing...sorry.
Hopefully this IS some sort of partnership so that exclusive stuff can get funneled in. I pay for this crap so IGN better give me more than HD versions of videos.

i bet it will be out tomorrow night at midnight. PS3fanboy has been givin hints and this ign site along with the PSP FW clue kinda proves it will be out sooner rather then later. so im guessin tomorrow and midnight.

The PSN store/PSN in general was out for a couple of hours earlier, I wonder if this had anything to do with it?
Bearskopff @ Nov 6th 2007 6:45PM
I wonder if this will somehow incorporate gamertags
kentuckyfried @ Nov 6th 2007 7:32PM
That would be huge if firmware 2.0 rolled out on Thursday, and it was Home.
One can always fantasize, right? =D
The Aggie CEO%u2122 @ Nov 6th 2007 7:44PM
Gamertags!?!?!
That would be nice.......

@1 That logo is actually in the new commercials as well, normally near the end. It is to signify the PSN so it would go to reason why IGN is using it on this webpage.
Eddie @ Nov 6th 2007 8:33PM
The new 40GB PS3 commercials here [Canada]feature Home throughout a LOT of the air time... odd since it's not out
John @ Nov 6th 2007 9:06PM
ha ha, kentuckyfried, wouldn't that be a hoot?
If 2.0 came out with Home, that would be amazing. I'm not crossing my fingers, but since you introduced the idea, I'll be checking Thursday ASAP-- it's a fantasy-- but even fantasies are fun to look forward to (I think?)

you never know if the entire delay was a cruel sick joke.

@3 'Lorem Ipsum'
Its not a Web Design thing, its a print thing, being that its something thats been used for centuries (1600's maybe) and well there wasnt much demand for web designers back then :P
It started off as sheets of the text, and publishers would cut the sheet the size of the space it needed to occupy in order to make a mock-up of how the final version would look. Its something that progressed over into the digital era although most people dont have a clue what it is sadly.

@13: Oh yeah? Well the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog!

Maybe they just said it so they could have extra development time if necessary. If they finished it early, great, they release it. If something wasn't right and they needed the extra time then nobody gets mad for being late.
