Bioshock PS3 rumour resurfaces
From the vault of rumours that won't die (no, not that one - that one is hopefully dead forever) comes, once again, the rumour of Bioshock coming to the PS3 sometime in 2008. While this was buried a few months ago the latest issue of EGM - and, in it, the newest Quartermann rumour predictions - has dug it back up and plans to rehabilitate it into mainstream debate.
We're not biting, however. There's no new evidence other than Mr. Quartermann's statement. We'd be happy to see it, but until we see some sort of proof we're firmly labeling this as the rumour it is.

blehh @ Nov 9th 2007 6:16PM
wait, that first sentence lost me. which what huh again?
Dante @ Nov 9th 2007 6:17PM
honestly this would be great to come to ps3..thats what we need. this is the only game that i want to play on xbox..but F*ck xbox..
Andy @ Nov 9th 2007 6:21PM
If I ever wanted a Xbox 360 exclusive I would want Viva Pinata. But I don't think thats going to happen just like Bioshock on PS3.
Jason @ Nov 9th 2007 6:47PM
This would be great if it is true. I hate Xbox360 but I can admit that Bioshock is awesome and was a big coup for Microshaft to lock up as an exclusive. I really hope Bioshock's devs smarten up and give PS3 gamers an enhanced Bioshock. How cool would that be? It would be great to rub it in the face of all those moronic Xbots.
Sara @ Nov 9th 2007 6:56PM
There are many times that companies have agreements with each other to have inclusion for a specified period of time. Thus, yes, this is possible. If it happens, it happens. I don't really see the need to beat it to death so much. *shrug*
Eddie @ Nov 9th 2007 7:19PM
If by moronic xbots you mean "enjoying my console more than me"-bots, then you are a wiser man than you would appear, friend.
jake @ Nov 9th 2007 7:40PM
i'd take this very seriously quartermann has been dead on about a lot of things lately, his sources are obviously better than anyone gives credit for, i'd say start asking when the announcement will be for bioshock ps3!
DEMAN @ Nov 9th 2007 7:54PM
i agree i would like bioshock but i number 4 i completely agree most people cant believe it but viva pinata is awesome
hiiro @ Nov 9th 2007 7:55PM
I've made that point tons of times Arno. Yet my posts always get deleted. I guess it's forbidden to try and be a bit realistic here.
ultrasur1 @ Nov 9th 2007 8:02PM
"Do you people have any reason to hate the Xbox 360 other than not owning one?"
Oh the irony!
PSPDog @ Nov 9th 2007 10:07PM
I played the demo on my pc which did not sell me on the game at all. I'm not interested in the FPS genre anymore, so I'm sure that had something to do with my opinion. I've been playing FPS since Doom and Wolf3d, so each new game just seems like the same thing with new weapons.
For those that haven't spent as much time with FPS, it's a good thing, but I'd rather play something else.
Afsheen @ Nov 9th 2007 10:45PM
Good God, who cares. Just get Killzone 2 to us, for the love of gum.
CaptainPlanet @ Nov 9th 2007 11:58PM
"There are a lot of rumors that simply don't end up on PS3 Fanboy. Why? Because some lack any semblance of credibility whatsoever"
A quote from PS3 fanboy, funny how they only apply it to things that are negative to the PS3...
jango feth @ Nov 9th 2007 11:53PM
tell me you were refering in that first sentence to metal gear solid 4...
rainking187 @ Nov 10th 2007 4:06AM
I highly doubt it. Over at the 2K forums any topic about a PS3 version is being locked and responded to with some form of "It ain't happening." Plus I thought I read somewhere MS paid them some money to keep it exclusive. Was I misinformed?
Sarapion @ Nov 10th 2007 6:03AM
I have bioshock on 360. I thought it was a great game....... At first. It is not a game that you would want to replay. And the game is extremely easy because whenever you die you come back to life in a "vita chamber" so dying becomes more of a nuisance than anything. But on to the ps3 rumor of a bioshock ps3 release. Didn't the developers say a while back that they had no plans to make bioshock on the ps3?
Popfrogs @ Nov 10th 2007 10:39AM
Any devs making exclusives should eventually consider just doing 'timed exclusives'. After all, at the end of the day, they're trying to make money, and releasing to only one of the two big consoles only nails a percentage of the market.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Bioshock on PS3 in a year.
T-Bor @ Nov 10th 2007 11:15AM
This is the only xbox 360 game that I wouldn't mind having on the PS3. Instead I bought Bioshock for my PC, but it the game was so buggy I returned it. The PC version is doo-doo.
ILoveMyBluRayPlayerSystem3 @ Nov 10th 2007 11:40AM
All the hate. Or is it jealousy? Your BluRay players will have games soon enough. Dont worry. But enough with the hate over those who have had games worth playing for a while now. Either go pick up a 360 if you havent already or stfu.
Titty Pink @ Nov 10th 2007 1:05PM
Between Drakes, COD 4, and Warhawk there's no reason to own a 360 there #21. MGS will pretty much seal it. I doubt you own a PS3, but when (yes WHEN) you get one, those 3 will start out your library quite nicely. While you're at it give Heavenly Sword, Rachet and Clank, and Ninja Gaiden a shot. Maybe God of War 2 for the PS2. Yea, those will tide you over while you FPSBox is in the shop. Be careful though, you may never go back. I know I didn't...
Noshino @ Nov 10th 2007 1:27PM
hey ILoveMyBluRayPlayerSystem3
Have you ever owned a PS3? if you have, then you wouldn't be saying that it is jealousy because really what is there to be jealous about? games? I mean, we waited 1 year just like you guys did, or did you have something before Gears? online? well, PSN still young, but its shaping up at a fast pace, isn't it? then what else? because I for one am not jealous of having a quality machine that comes with everything I wanted and for a price that is quite low...
so yah, what is there to be jealous about? only game for me would be mass effect, but then again, the latest videos are actually lowering my desire for the game...
360 OWNERS HAVE GAMES! THEY INDEED GOT THEM, BUT ONE YEAR AFTER THE 360 WAS RELEASED, am I wrong or right?
think about what you say, because it may come back and bite you in the ass :]
Vol @ Nov 10th 2007 1:39PM
I own all 3 consoles and my PS3 and the Wii collect the most dust. Once you PSFanBois realize what a complete experience you get playing online in a seamless enviroment with the 360, you'll come to understand how pathetic your arguements about Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, and others are.
Stop being fanbois and open up to what you ARE missing.
For those that'll bring up it's reliabilty, it's useless. MS has a 3 year warranty on it and if your life stops when your console goes belly up, then get a life.
Killswitch On @ Nov 10th 2007 2:04PM
I did own a PS3 but got rid of it not too long ago. Im not into over paying for movies Ill hardly ever watch. And I was not satisfied with the online (PSN) or the games that were out. Some of them I liked but not as much as the games Ive been playing on my 360. And I think Xbox Live is just the best. I dont see PSN ever being close to it. They may improve but as they improve Live will continue to improve and get better.
And all the talk about MGS. I never liked the series. I dont think so many people are into it as some of you think. Its no Halo or Gears. Sony cant have some outlandish ad campaign for it like MS did for Halo. If they did itd be a waste. There arent as many people anticipating MSG as there was Halo.
It is sad that some of you have some loyalism to Sony that you refuse to try out what most everyone else is playing. Sony has had a much rougher first year than the 360. The 360 didnt need a price cut 8 months into its cycle. Yet Sony has had 2 in its first year already. Sony has gotten desperate and rightfully so. Sorry, I dont think I will ever own a PS3 again. No reason to. Ive been happy playing games on my 360 and not having to settle for the few you have out there. Sure the PS3 will improve from a games perspective next year, but do you think the 360 is just going to stop having great games? Nope.
Noshino @ Nov 10th 2007 2:32PM
Vol,
err...the 3 year warranty? I don't care, I rather want my product to not fail, than to fail but have a warranty, products are supposed to be efficient...
Its like buying a car, I would rather get one that works perfectly, than get one that can break down now and then, but hey, don't worry! you have a 3 year tech service for free!....
Killswitch On,
Xbox live is the best RIGHT NOW, yes, it does have the advantage, but still, it has its many problems.
I do try what all the other systems have to offer, despite the fact that I own a DS, I dislike many of the games for it and I completly disregard the Wii being a next gen console, I have tried the games and its just awful, nothing up to the par of what the PS3 and 360 have to offer.
I tried teh 360, I got really bored with it, the controller feels weird (shuddup >_>;) I think I just like the symmetry of the DS2/SIXAXIS. most of the games for it are not of my taste...hell, I even tried blue dragon, but it just didn't feel right, so I stopped before I ruined my desire for watching the anime series.
also, I don't like Halo, the franchise itself has been overhyped, its nothing a la par of CS or UT for that matter.
I did like Gears, which I accept is amazing, but then again, you can play it on PC...with much more extra stuff than the 360 version.
ah, and the 360 didn't have competition back 2 years ago, it had craptastic games, but now that it is happening to the PS3, now all the 360 fans bitch about it? hypocrites? (btw, I do accept the fact that the PS2 didn't have that many good titles on its first year too)
so yah, for me, NO REASON to own a 360, I get all what I wanted in one small package, no need for add-ons, etc. But it is indeed sad for me to see that you blame the lack of games when there have been many other there :[
Justin @ Nov 10th 2007 4:22PM
I have a PS3 which I play every day. (PSN: CarolCity)
I have a 360 which hasn't been touched in about 8 months. (havent bought 1 360 game since I've had my PS3)
Check my gamertag: Carol City (same as PSN but w/ a space)
Add me as a friend on XBL and see "last online 8 months ago"
Every game I am interested in is on the PS3 be it multiplatform or exclusive.
Halo 1 - not my style
Halo 2 - not my style
so naturally....
Halo 3 - not my style
MGS1 - !
MGS2 - !!
MGS3 - !!!
so naturally....
MGS4 - !!!!!!!!!
Call me a Sony fanboy if you want...but it has the games I want. Period.
I like shooting games. Realistic shooting games shooting real people with real guns. Rainbow Six (even though its an FPS I bought it for 360 and PS3), SOCOM, GRAW2, MGS4...
Not laser plasma blasters shooting up aliens... sorry.
Not speaking for everyone...just me.
The only reason I bought a 360 was because I couldn't WAIT to start next-gen gaming.
But after the stories of system failure (didn't happen to mine though)...paying for XBL (online gaming doesn't really appeal to me...so paying for it is ridiculous), and so many boring FPS games...I decided to sever my support of Microsoft's system.
Shame too...I had invested in a Premium system, a Wi-fi adaptor, a wireless earpiece, controller chargers and rechargable battery packs, XBL for one year that I used maybe twice.
What a waste. I feel truly sorry for anyone bashing the PS3 because of a lack of games. If you're gonna continue to act like the 360 didn't have the EXACT same drought...and even after one year, only had GEARS to show off...then keep the blindfold over your eyes o' sheep. Makes no difference to me.
If you're going to hate a system...please have at least tried it, or have a valid reason to hate it.
Kruegmeister @ Nov 10th 2007 11:28PM
I tried the Demo on my 360 and was not impressed.
Yet it has been getting Rave Reviews, I personally don't get. I thought it looked Cartoony and Oddly Shiny.
Even the Carpet was a little shiny. The Brick walls I'm assuming were supposed to look wet or something, they look nearly like Metal to me. Now the Water Pouring in at the beginning was pretty impressive. The Plasmids were cool as well, Lighting a guy on fire or shocking someone with lightning from your hands was almost Jedi Stuff. But the Characters and World were just too cartoony for me. So if they bring it to the PS3 that will be 3 Games of the Year I will not be buying. (Bioshock for 360, Bioshock for the PC, and Bioshock for PS3)
ryano @ Nov 13th 2007 11:24PM
The PS3 fanboy question: "Why do people keep saying "Where's the games for PS3 when the 360 was in the same boat?""
It's because most of their games have been on the 360 and were also better versions at the time.
That is why.
But those people can't use that argument anymore. PS3 is getting some fantastic software now.
Likewise the 360 isn't running out of steam either in terms of software.
It should be interesting to see the PS3 hardware come to life and create fantastic games like Uncharted (the one and only PS3 game that I need) and what the 360 will do to counter the awakened beast.
(oh and the 360 controller is the most comfortable controller I ever used, i fell in love with it at E3 2005 and works beautiful with every game...except VF5 online!)
Popfrogs @ Nov 10th 2007 11:32PM
Nice post Justin.
The 360 exclusives I'd like to have are GoW, Bioshock...and that's about it.
For the PS3, the exclusives I have are Eye of Judgment (alot of fun), Ratchet and Clank: Future (incredible), Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Warhawk. I plan to get MGS4 and FFXIII along with COD4 and some others soon. Oh and Uncharted, judging by the demo, is a game of the year contender. It's that good.
This is just the first year for the PS3 and already we're seeing incredible AAA titles landing now. We will have the equivalent of 5 Gears of War by January. 6 if Unreal gets released (on time) early.
There's no reason to be jealous guys. The 40GB system is in your price range now, you can join us and we will welcome you when you cross over after you get bored with Mass Effect. ;)
gerg @ Nov 13th 2007 6:08PM
bioshock is hands down game of the year. i love this game, and anyone here stating that this game is anything short of genius has obviously not experienced the stellar brilliance of this title. that said, if this game were to be released on ps3 with new content, i would snatch a second copy of the game up in a heartbeat. i love this game.
that being said, i've been trying to find out of assassin's creed will have any planned dlc for one console but not the other (a la GTA IV). anyone have any info on this? if not, i'll get it for ps3, as that and uncharted would be enough for my ps3 until the big releases hit early next year.
Efeez1986 @ Nov 11th 2007 4:01AM
I was excited about bioshock at first, but once i played it i was not impressed. You basically walk around and look at pretty graphics, then an enemy pops out and you fight them(yawn). It's kind of boring, plus the last boss fight and all of the ending were garbage!
optimusprime @ Nov 11th 2007 12:13PM
I would love to have Bioshock on the PS3. It is one of the very few games on the 360 that I am interested in (besides Gears of War which I already own, and Mass Effect), and I have been holding back on buying it on the hope that maybe they will bring it to my favorite console. Here's to hoping that this rumor is true :)
j @ Nov 13th 2007 5:41AM
To add insult to injury for 360 people, I hope the ps3 version, if released, has the vaunted multi-player package. Hell, it'd be even fun if they made a parody 2 player co-op version included.
j @ Nov 13th 2007 5:45AM
@7
This isn't just a fight over consoles. This is a battle between Good vs. Evil. Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD.
Sony vs the greatest threat to consumers across the globe...world domination by Microsoft and their inferior products and formats.
j @ Nov 13th 2007 5:53AM
Anyhow, I would gladly re-buy Bioshock if it comes out on ps3. My guess it that it would arrive, indeed, with multiplayer possibly, and the Xbox version would then get the multiplayer as downloadable content. That would be a fair arrangement.
The ps3's endings will hopefully last 5 minutes or something instead of 40 seconds. lol.
j @ Nov 13th 2007 5:53AM
For those of you who haven't played it, it *is* a fun game, although I didn't find it as highly original and ground-breaking as the reviews made it out to be. You could kind of tell that the design was getting sloppy towards the end, as if the people at 2K were getting tired. But the beginning levels are wonderfully designed.
