Uncharted demo now works worldwide
It looks like Europeans (and Japanese PS3 owners) won't have to wait until November 22nd after all. A new post on the PlayStation.Blog by Naughty Dog's Christophe Balestra states that the Uncharted demo was never intended to be region locked. After discovering that it was, Balestra did his best to get it fixed for his fellow Europeans as quickly as possilble. The version available right now on the American PSN Store will now work on any PS3 in the world.
Frankly, we're delighted to see this issue fixed so quickly, even though there was no obligation for Naughty Dog to have the demo work on any PS3 - what with the EULA essentially restricting "false" accounts. Regardless, we're always happy to post good news and will be sending a huge "Thank you!" to Naughty Dog on belhalf of all of our non-American readers. So what are you waiting for? Go download the Uncharted demo!
[Thanks, elephant_stone & Kiddie!]

I love you Naughty Dog!!!
Man, so quick! This is why ND is one of the best developers in the world!
Starfire @ Nov 10th 2007 8:56AM
Good news, this is. I'm a big fan of PS3 region-freeness, especially in this internet age. My thanks to Naughty (but ultimately nice) Dog!
DirtnSky @ Nov 10th 2007 9:23AM
yaaah... Well, look at that. Whining Does draw notice! All you euro and Japanese living fans of ND games feel free to download and gun some scum at leisure now!
The Clunge @ Nov 10th 2007 9:33AM
This is great news. Thanks to ND for sorting that shizzle out so fast, and to Sam and Christophe for communicating directly with gamers on the sony blog.
I'm hoping Sony will appreciate how important the multi-region stuff is while there's such a delay in stuff appearing on regional stores (still waiting for Everyday Shooter in the EU).
sg @ Nov 10th 2007 9:55AM
Thankyou ND for delivering- this is by far and away the best game on PS3 and it is our exclusive! the start of a whole new franchise that will sell a million PS3s

lee @ Nov 10th 2007 10:17AM
just finnished playing it and wow its amazing i was unsure about getting it but now ive played the demo its a definate buy for me now
Phil @ Nov 10th 2007 10:26AM
If they fixed the issue - largely so EU owners could go there and download it...
Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to just make it available in the EU anyway?
H2Os @ Nov 10th 2007 10:33AM
Sure but the EU psn store only updates on specific days. I remember them delaying the launch of WH on the PSN in Europe to coincide with their normal update of the week.
Popfrogs @ Nov 10th 2007 10:42AM
...not only that but the EU store has to jump through 20 hoops to put up content due to the rats nest of laws and restrictions there. France and Germany, I'm looking at you.
I always wondered why the US store seemed so crippled and slow on Thursdays, and now I know. The entire globe is using it to download. It'd be nice if we had alot more bandwidth since every single PS3 owner is hitting it at once every week.
MCX @ Nov 10th 2007 10:58AM
Wow!!! Just Wow!!!
drdre74 @ Nov 10th 2007 11:26AM
This to me shows that Naughty Dog is a great company. They didn't have to do this at all and they really listen to the people who buy their games. Support them when this game comes out. The demo is hot and I love the game.
Tony @ Nov 10th 2007 11:36AM
The gameplay is wonderful, the graphics otherworldly.
This wil be my GOTY for sure.
reakt @ Nov 10th 2007 12:14PM
Thanks Naughty Dog. I hope this doesn't get you in trouble with Sony!
nintendonionja @ Nov 10th 2007 12:33PM
Great! Thank you Naughty Dog! It plays just as good as it looked. A definite buy, although I am probably going to get Assasins Creed before this.
Michael @ Nov 10th 2007 12:39PM
friggin awesome. 1st day purchase anyways, now more than ever.
Night Elve @ Nov 10th 2007 12:59PM
This is 1st day purchase for me. The demo was awesome!
Peter @ Nov 10th 2007 1:05PM
I ordered Uncharted from the States. I hope Naughty Dog didn't make it region locked!
Chris @ Nov 10th 2007 1:33PM
Where can you go to get non EU PS Store demos anyway? I don't see it in my store. Apologies, but I've only had the PS3 for a month.
Damian @ Nov 10th 2007 1:58PM
That's very public spirited of them. Hope people who were full of "f*** you Sony!" ramblings feel mildly idiotic now...
Robin @ Nov 10th 2007 2:04PM
two words, HOLY CRAP! ( as said so many times in the game, wich was quite hilarious XD ) I just love the demo, but the water effects, are just f*cking am-a-zing! cant wait till the 7th of dec :D

Wow Jeff I'm sorry your Halo 3 is now becoming the thing of the past *and so soon too* I bought it played for about 3 weeks and it's on the shelf collecting dust.. But what I WILL DO however is take it to Gamespot TRADE IT IN when THIS AAA title gets released and get 30% extra on my trade in! In other words putting money on things WORTH buying!! OH BTW Jeff COD4 looks better on the PS3!! Sorry bud.. Hope I didn't spoil your troll'n attempts.. A for effort but.. you fell a bit short! LoL And I loved the Demo Jeff thanks for asking!
EDGE @ Nov 10th 2007 3:08PM
@Jeff
I loved the demo, thanks so much for asking. Oh and while you are at it, do some research before you run your mouth, the game certainly is not short per the previews. Silly little troll.
Wayne @ Nov 10th 2007 3:15PM
I downloaded the demo twice. It's kinda short for 1.2GB, but still worth a look.

When I saw this, I thought it might be a mistake and wondered if they would fix it, and how fast. Seems to me this was a really fast response, and I think it just shows how developers like this are really keened into the audience.
Josh @ Nov 10th 2007 5:35PM
@27 I do see the similarities in the two pictures but there is one key difference. Uncharted is actual game play and Tomb Raider is obviously not.
a.j. @ Nov 10th 2007 6:51PM
"the graphics are otherworldly"...uh...have you played any games this year? i love my PS3 and this is decent but nowhere near as mind blowing as you're making it out to be. ratchet is more impressive.
The_Doctor @ Nov 10th 2007 7:22PM
@18:
Hypothetically, if one wanted to, they could make a new user on their ps3 and sign up to the playstation network with a US or Jap address and access their networks for downloads. This is of course not legal by the EULA, but that person could probably find guides on how to do it by googling ;)
Chris @ Nov 10th 2007 9:24PM
@32. Very good. I'm sure if one wanted to know that, he would thank one very much. Hypothetically speaking :)
Andy @ Nov 10th 2007 9:27PM
How great would it be if this game had online?
What I like about the demo
-water
-sky
-gameplay
-took me less than 30 minutes to download
What I don't like about the demo
-chunky foliage
-you have to watch that 3 minute video and can't skip it
Naughty Dog threw you bandwidth stealers a big bone.
z0ob0y @ Nov 10th 2007 10:01PM
@34
You can skip the intro just like you can turn off "hints".
Ray @ Nov 10th 2007 10:11PM
Game looks and plays awesome. Can't wait till it comes out
linebeginstoblur @ Nov 10th 2007 10:55PM
I think it's so funny that, because of the situation, people were saying bad things about Naughty Dog and saying they would never buy this game, and now, the same people are praising them and saying it'll be a first-day purchase. I understand why it was upsetting, but you're not allowed to make a fake US account anyway. And for those of you living in a different region than your PS3 came from, that sucks, and it makes sense, but it still doesn't make sense to talk like that. Half of the games I own for the PS3 never had demos released for it. People are taking demos too seriously. There's no guarantee saying you have to be given a game demo for all the games you want. For those who complained, I hope this teaches you a lesson that you shouldn't blame Sony and Naughty Dog just because of a bug.
Justin @ Nov 10th 2007 11:29PM
@ andy 34, just hit pause...and go to "skip movie"
KiraXD @ Nov 10th 2007 11:30PM
i love how many people flipped out about the region thing... always crying about shit they dont know anything about... oh well... this demo is awesome, and now the crybabies have a chance to play it before the 22nd
jeff @ Nov 11th 2007 6:55AM
this game looks like a souped up tomb raider rip off. i bet it's another one of sonys famous 5 hour to complete games. how do you like the demo?
Svindler @ Nov 11th 2007 11:37AM
#18: You have to make another account on your PS3 with a valid address from the US. They get almost everything sooner.
ryano @ Nov 13th 2007 11:24PM
played this at my friends house. the game played awesome. i really liked his reactions to different situations. Environments felt alive, every leaf was moving in the breeze. Beautiful lighting too. the gunplay felt like Gears of War. to me this is the PS3's Gears of War.(single player GOW anyway)
another game that i look forward to getting when the Dual shock 3's come with the system next year. =)
Bryan1602 @ Feb 6th 2008 10:18PM
Im from Panama and i cant play de uncharted demo that I downloaded from the playstation store. At the beginning of the demo it says please insert game disc. Do I really need a disc to play the demo?
