The rollercoaster ride that is the weekly Blu-ray releases continues its weekly rise and fall. After
last week's impressive lineup of Pixar titles and several bargain bundles, we're not left with much for this week.
While the
Oceans trilogy is decent and Close Encounters is better, we're more interested in
Ultimate Force, which features the UFC's Croation Sensation Mirko "Crocop" Filipovic, in kinda the same way you watch NASCAR to see the fiery crashes. Judging from Crocop's last few UFC bouts, though, he may want to continue his acting career.

Not much beyond Close Encounters (which seems like a nice package). I enjoy IMAX, but 13 year old ones don't quite cut it...

Meh...still waiting for some decent anime to come out on Blu-Ray (no offense to dragonball fans, but...well...ummm...no offense, okay?) Oh, and I'm just kidding. Kind of. :P

Uh, hello! We are getting the first Hi-Def Steven Speilberg film, and it just happens to be his masterpiece, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's quite possibly the best Sci-Fi movie ever made.

completely off topic, but does anyone in the US notice the sunday sale ads...
and notice that not in ONE of them, do they advertise the new low-priced 40GB PS3?
the have the 360 arcade at 279 in huge letters...
but the PS3 (hardware) is not in ONE of the ads...
not even the 80GB.
The WII is in each one, usually with more of a showing than that of the 360, but the PS3 is non-existent in the Best Buy ads, Circuty City ads, Target ads, KMart ads, Walmart ads, CompUSA ads, Sears ads, and i think there were a few more...
if they had the PS3 advertised at all, it was a small corner that advertised heavenly sword and another game...while they have in huge print CALL OF DUTY 4 FOR 360 - 59.99 and a free _________ with PURCHASE!
I see now that these companies are a big part of the PS3's low sales based on the fact that a large percentage of consumers rely on those sale ads to make purchases. They don't consult the internets like many of us do.
Wow, somebody should bring that up to Sony or something.

Off topic. In the next couple of weeks blu-ray has exclusives like Live Free Die Hard, Superbad and Pirates Of The Caribbean At Worlds End which are going to make hd dvd fanboys think twice about there format.

I'm going to keep losing money with all these great movies coming out!! How can you not want to buy the Ocean's series! Plus, with great Disney movies coming out, Live Free and Die Hard, and DBZ bringing some anime to blu-ray, I can clearly see that BD is entering this holiday season with just movies.
Now if only we had $199, $299 BD players... then I could convince my dad to get one.

Why did you picture Ultimate Force and not Close Encounters? Close Encounters is probably the biggest movie coming out this week and is one of, if not, the highest rated movie on Blu-ray.com. If you haven't seen the review check it out at http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=529&show=review

@Justin
I noticed last week in Target's xmas catalog that they made no mention, none whatsoever, on PS3 or PS3 games. They had 360, Wii, PS2 and PSP, but no PS3 hardware/software at all! I was so pissed that I showed it to my wife and was like WTF?!?!
On another completely off topic: Why hasn't the mainstream media jumped on the RRoD for the holidays. This looks like a 20/20/Dateline hard hitter for sure. All the dead 360's and the people who might not know about it that rush out to get one for the holidays! Seems so scandalous!
