Do you like watching Blu-ray movies? Who doesn't? There's a
ton of ways to build your Blu-ray collection for cheap using these three deals.
- amazon.com is offering a Buy 1, Get 1 free sale on select titles. It's similar to the selection they offered before. If you're into their offerings, this is easily the best deal of the bunch. Update: Even more movies added.
- J&R has select movies on sale. The catch? You have to buy two and you have to pay for shipping. But, with the average disc costing $16, this might be worth your while.
- Deep Discount is offering 20% off every movie in the store. This gives you a very flexible way of saving on movies not found in the previous deals. You might want to pick up Planet Earth or the Spider-Man collection. Use coupon code NYTIMES.

Lets see Transformers comes out and the Blu-ray companies do a Buy One Get One free firesale.
Now Shrek 3 has come out and lo and behold they have done it again!
Me thinks there are 2 reasons for this:
1. Sony and the BDA are scared that these mega-box office hitters will leverage the sales so they must pre-counter attack.
2. Sony and the BDA are still a bit peeved at Paramount for turning their backs on them and thus want to divert attention from any sales they might have achieved (despite it not working last time around). . .
Can't we all just get along.
P.S. Once again this is a gaming forum, not a shill-Sony-products forum. I like it better that way.
So hows that Uncharted Demo huh? Pretty badass if you ask me.

Pretty good deal to start building a BR collection.
Broken Haiku @ Nov 12th 2007 6:51PM
God damnit. I so dislike region protection, I'd pick this one up at once if I could.
Galley @ Nov 12th 2007 7:05PM
Discs at JR.com were $12.99 - $15.99 plus shipping, but were $10 at Amazon with free shipping.
xsmurdoc @ Nov 12th 2007 7:55PM

Caros @ Nov 12th 2007 10:45PM
Nice! I purchased The 5th Element and Memoirs of the Geisha for only $19.95 and free shipping @ Amazon. The first time this deal was posted I got Pirates (the first one) and Apocalypto for the same price...Love it!

i would like to take this time to leave a message to the guys behind ps3fanboy.com. see i left a message asking for the exclusive stuff and that i wanted the things no other site would get and news that mattered a little beyond gaming and so on. every gaming site steals from eachother and give their own twisted version of it. proof of it would be and article like this one.http://gamer.blorge.com/2007/11/11/bad-news-for-the-ps3-sony-admits-loss-sorry-stalemate-in-format-war-with-microsoft/ now beyond talking about that, i dont know if you guy read the comments people post here or not but in case you do, i get the feelings you did start to get the interviews and articles that mattered so for that,, thank you. ps3fanboy became slightly more interesting for me.
mccomber @ Nov 13th 2007 12:58AM
Awesome deal, and a few movies I actually want this time. However, your link for amazon leaves out another 40 movies from a separate list:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_5876182_2?ie=UTF8&docId=1000161681&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=12T4BMQGEH9GYSX78ACT&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=328865501&pf_rd_i=B000QFCD90
Sorry for the giant link, but what are you gonna do without html? Keep in mind that you have to buy 2 movies from one list only, you can't mix and match between the two.
CarpeD1em500 @ Nov 13th 2007 9:49AM
Just wanted to say thank you for passing along this deal. I just picked up four movies for like 40 bux total. You guys are awesome. :)
plyx @ Nov 13th 2007 2:29AM
I got the remastered Fifth Element and Kung Fu Hustle.
James @ Nov 13th 2007 5:41AM
Those BBC nature documentaries just look phenono...phinomenu...phenomomino...fantastic on Blu-ray. You won't believe it until you see it.

Speaking Of deals I think I have sorted through the Specs Vs My needs issues and decided I should grab a 60GB before they go away. Any tips on deals out there?

Good movie deal, picked up resident evil apocalypse and replacement killers from amazon for 19.99 total. Can't pass up somthing like that. PS3 fanboy is pretty helpful.

Watch the language please!!
James @ Nov 13th 2007 9:52AM
Yeah great Amazon deal once again. Pursuit of Happiness and Casino Royale for $26 isn't bad at all.
davebo @ Nov 13th 2007 10:40AM
Geoff, you figured them out! Toshiba was dropping behind in sales so they threw money at the problem. Now Sony wants to keep their bluray sales on top so they're slashing prices to do so! My what underhanded trickery.
How about we all just be glad we're getting some great deals on overpriced media? I've had PS3 almost a year and have yet to buy a blu-ray that WASN'T on a buy one get one free offer. I say keep 'em coming. Being that I use my ps3 slightly more for blu-ray watching than I do for gaming, I enjoy them being mentioned on a site dedicated to PS3 fanboys.
T-P-M @ Nov 13th 2007 11:48AM
@Geoff Gibson
"P.S. Once again this is a gaming forum, not a shill-Sony-products forum."
No, this is a PS3 Blog and thus includes all things PS3 (like blu-ray).
P.S. I, like quite a few other here I'm sure love seeing these deals.
James @ Nov 13th 2007 3:02PM
Thanks for the heads up ps3fanboy! I was hoping to find a good deal on "Cars" and "Ratatouille" for popping in for the family this holiday season, and DeepDiscount sold them both to me for a total of $42.74 (free shipping). Then I picked up "Wild Things" and "Basic Instinct" for me for $12.99 and $15.99, plus $3.95 for shipping. These were some great deals to get on Blu-ray!
epp1e @ Nov 13th 2007 3:13PM
With http://www.sonystyle.com/wcsstore/SonyStyleStorefrontAssetStore/pdf/Blu-rayBuy2Get1FreeRebateOffer.pdf I actually ended up getting Buy 1 Get 2 Free :D.
And DeepDiscount has two Buy 1 Get 1 sales going on with a couple Blu-rays not involved in Amazon's Buy 1 Get 1 sales.
