Its only real competitor is COD4.
Emrah @ Nov 13th 2007 3:53PM
I (along with many people I guess) have seen this months ago, and the video was of much better quality..
Patrick @ Nov 13th 2007 3:57PM
Did i just see.... a tire...bleed?!
Wayne @ Nov 13th 2007 4:04PM
Will it support 1080p? GT5 does, this should too.

RagingStormX @ Nov 13th 2007 4:08PM
Nice...but the action doesn't seem that intense. The AI were just standing waiting their turn to die almost.
LMAO @ 4....it did look that way for real though {o.0}
RagingStormX @ Nov 13th 2007 4:10PM
# 3 I ment....sorry.
Macrike @ Nov 13th 2007 4:14PM
LOL
This is not new at all. I've seen this same video back in July, after E3. -_-
Nate @ Nov 13th 2007 4:18PM
The lighting looks really good. The physics (from what little actually moved around) looked good. They said they developed the AI a lot, but I didn't see much of any AI in those shots (not saying there necessarily isn't any, we just didn't get to see any).
Not really that much into the FPS genre, but if I was going to get one, you can bet it would be this one, since it's exclusive and seems to have fantastic graphics.
Dante @ Nov 13th 2007 4:27PM
ive seen this video about 2 months ago...i thought it was gonna be a new vid i got so excited
leiwei @ Nov 13th 2007 4:41PM
They probably dumbed down the AI, lowered the difficulty, or maybe he has cheats on since he did mention something about using a cheat. otherwise we've seen this level long long ago.
Nick @ Nov 13th 2007 4:56PM
Not sure if this question has been answered, but are they planning on online aspect to this game. COD4 is great, but the best part is online play. I think it would be essential to any new firt person shooter games.

The thing is this is the a OLD OLD video from some time in Leipzig.
Remember the game is not done yet and chances are that the AI is not 100% done yet.
The Streaming lvl system was not in place either and the AI was from a Very old build from what i know.
Popfrogs @ Nov 13th 2007 5:21PM
I've seen this before but without the dev talking all the way through it. Having the AI aware of destructible cover for themselves plus the player should make things tougher. I think this is going to be a great one.
Joe M. @ Nov 13th 2007 6:36PM
This may or may not be relevant, but I just searched on Amazon and it has Killzone 2 with a March 4, 2008 date next to it. Hell Yeah.
joe @ Nov 13th 2007 6:48PM
um... i dunno if it's new, but it definitely IS NOT the same video as the one from leipzig. if you pull up the old video, and i still have the old video saved on my computer... it's different.
he runs through the same level differently, and explains it differently, and is a bit more thorough in this one.
for example: he didn't shoot the tire in the older video. that alone is enuff proof that their different. also in the old video, when he faces the first 3 guys while he's behind the boxes, he throws a nade. in this video... no nade - the part when he says shooting is 70% of the game and that it has to be fun and satisfying.
verdict: this is a different walkthrough for the same level. he seems to be taking his time more for this video.
NOW STFU!
Titty Pink @ Nov 13th 2007 6:50PM
Since when do we expect great AI from early builds of games? All I'm concerned about is this thing showing the true power of the PS3, which it seems to do. I want an experience that CRUSHES COD 4 with the length of Resistance. Bring it...
bluesky_v2.01 @ Nov 13th 2007 7:09PM
I refuse to watch Killzone 2 footage in SD.
Ruben @ Nov 13th 2007 7:42PM
Has anyone else noticed that we still haven't gotten Hd footage of GAMEPLAY for kz2. The HD video on gametrailers.com is HD, but it's not on screen, even if it doesnt say Cam gameplay, they lied, and i want it.
John @ Nov 13th 2007 9:10PM
Wow. This is by far the most amazing real-time rendering I have ever seen. Absolutely fantastic. EVERYTHING is so dynamic. I have never seen programming like this. Notice how as the guy walks, it has a bit of movement, the sense of really being in a place is incredible, and the lighting, the detail, I really am curious how the hell they are pulling this off, with all those lights, all the detail in the walls, all the outcropping of wood and so forth, the line graphics that are the foundation for this alone are more detailed than anything we've seen before.
John @ Nov 13th 2007 9:11PM
Wayne, GT5 is a whole other animal. Making GT5 at that resolution is entirely different from making a live 3d-map FPS at 1080p. To illustrate this simply, imagine GT5's rendering process as 20 strings, fanning from a source, say, the horizon. Things are updated along those paths, fore and aft, along with the AI, lighting, player input, feedback mechanisms/object relationships (physics), and so forth.
For a shooter, imagine 20 strings, but they are not stuck on the horizon, they can be dynamically allocated in 3 dimensional space. The space is so much bigger that every problem, every code relating to the output (and isn't it all) must now be dealing with multiple times the information, yet in the same amount of time. For a game of this caliber, this much computation, I would be happy with a steady 30fps at 1080i (and only because I know some 420P'rs need it, otherwise I would say stick at 720p).
John @ Nov 13th 2007 9:11PM
The AI here seemed pretty weak. I like dumb AI because I suck at these, but I am not the majority. They need to have some PC gamers test this, people who know shooters. AI is a big thing with the FPS crowd, and if Sony don't make it hard enough, they won't earn certain respect. Hopefully, this will have an 'easy' setting for people like me.
Frank @ Nov 13th 2007 9:51PM
Yea I agree with 21, the AI seemed terrible. I wouldn't even care if they hadn't gloated about how great it was.
Consolcwby @ Nov 13th 2007 10:57PM
@John: Here is a link to a previous story on how they did the graphics (look for the pdf link in the read section underneath the story for some tech info!): http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/08/12/creating-the-killzone-look-with-deferred-rendering/
@joe: I thought it was the same as Leipzig but edited down with some parts that were NOT shown and with new audio commentary. Here is the link to the original I am talking about (2nd Leipzig video, 25min long): http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/08/25/25-minutes-of-killzone-2-to-satisfy-your-curiosity/
@Everyone: I love me some killzone! Can't wait for this fantastic looking game! =)
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Nov 14th 2007 1:19AM
What I want to see is how all of this will be implemented online. That's a big challenge because Guerrilla has to think about what will work and what won't work in both single-player and multiplayer to keep the player fully immersed in the game. What I mean is, if they say you can't use a certain type of gun online that you can use in the campaign, people will kind of be distracted and annoyed by that and since I know GG is aiming for this to be one of the most immersing FPSes this is something they should really focus on.
Maybe it's just me, but lots of shooters do this well like Gears of War and Resistance: FoM.
Brian Spence @ Nov 14th 2007 7:54AM
I really can't wait for this game. It's going to be a real system seller.
I wish we had a release date (no, sorry, Amazon never knows the actual release dates of things. I'm sure March is just a temporary date).
