Many importers have been curious: does the new rumble-ready DualShock 3 work for PS2 games played on the PS3? The answer is yes (provided you don't have the 40GB model -- you won't be able to play PS2 games at all!). With rumble being slowly reintroduced to the system, it appears that PS3 will finally be able to do everything the PS2 offered last generation ... and then some.
I won't be importing, rumble was never that important to me, but I will be picking one of these up when they finally release here in NA.
One of the early reviews I read said the controller had a more overall solid feel. Also, that the R/L 1/2 required a little more force allowing for better control over speeds and the like.
Not bagging the DS3, but I'll just be happy for a better constructed controller. I'm already on #2...

With the rumor of the fall 360 update and downloadable Xbox1 games, Im willing to bet this is in the cards for Sony as well (with ps2 games). WIth the release of a backwards compatable-less 40G ps3, i'll bet we will be seeing PS2 downloads in the PSN in the near future.
@6 the same way ps1 games are available. It'd be stupid to introduce a console (the 40gig) that wouldn't play PSN ps1 games so i presume there's some software emulation thing going on. I don't know coz i've a euro 60gig and haven't downloaded any ps1 games.
I think he meant that since the 40 gig can't run ps2 games on it's own, Sony might just port them to the ps3 by way of PSN...which I, myself doubt would happen... although, lately anything Sony says is debatable.
I'd just like to see a massive library of the ps1 downloads, I'd take a PS1 classic over any Xbox 1 game anyday.
I assumed it would work with PS2 games (wishful thinking I guess), but what I'm DYING to know is, after some companies said that the DualShock 3 had a better "Touch Sense" rumble, Sony came in and said it was the same rumble as the DualShock 2. Who's being real? Anyone know? If people have it to try on PS2 games, surely someone's tried a different game like Resistance or Ratchet & Clank Future.

You realize this statement doesn't make sense right? If there isn't BC, how do you expect to play games that require it?

Why there is a cable plugged in on the controller?
