A step by step guide to the PlayStation Store

After creating a PSN account, make sure you have the Network Downloader. It's only 2 megs large -- the installation is quick and painless. Read on to see more, and see what's available on the PS Store!

Now, we're going to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops, one of the new downloadable titles for PSP. It's only $10 and comes in at only 67.5MB. Once you go through the checkout area, you'll see an option to download the game.

Once the download completes, you'll see the game from your PSP XMB: Game -> Memory Stick:

Interestingly, a software manual is included with your download when you press Triangle:

The Store is also available in Europe, we just have different games available. :)
CHEE5E2EE @ Nov 20th 2007 5:44PM
I'm from the UK and we don't have those full games we get Beats, Go Puzzle, B-Boy, Fired Up & Go Sudoku. I'm sure we will get more over time.
Is it possible for PSPFanboy to get the demos up on here? Both SOCOM: Tactical Strike & Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow? Please... I want to try :'@
Rodrigo_Hitman @ Nov 20th 2007 5:54PM
I´m from Mexico, and it seems i wont be able to use the PS Store.
This sucks, I own both a Psp and Psp Slim...
This is not cool for Latin American market.
CHEE5E2EE @ Nov 20th 2007 6:02PM
I had a thought if you can use your PS3 account then would it possible to sign in using my US PSN Account to get them demos? I hope so.... Just got to try and remember my password now :P
asuma08 @ Nov 20th 2007 6:02PM
Cool. I just downloaded a couple of videos, Crash Bandicoot, and the Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow Demo. I hope the store gets some really good games soon. Great job Sony!

joey @ Nov 20th 2007 7:22PM

This is the perfect oppotunity to promote the PSN.

Don't disappoint me now SONY. Or I'm hacking my PSP.
required @ Nov 20th 2007 7:37PM
NOTE: You should preface PC with Microsoft since that OS is required at the store.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Nov 20th 2007 7:41PM
SWEET!
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Nov 20th 2007 8:16PM
Sweet! But I was hoping you could also download PS3 demos because I can't get it connected to the Internet. :(
Devon @ Nov 20th 2007 9:07PM
I hope they start adding new PS1 games every week, and new demos and new games every so often, that'd be a really nice online addition to the PSP.
psp&dsFanboy @ Nov 20th 2007 9:28PM
so if we purchase a game once and then it somehow gets deleted from the memory stick, can we re-download it without paying for it again like the Wii Virtual Console?
jpwest @ Nov 20th 2007 10:07PM
Can the PS1 games be downloaded directly from PC to PSP? The directions still indicate that a PS3 is needed.
lostmongoose @ Nov 20th 2007 11:18PM
It should also be noted that if you're one of the people running an x64 version of the OSes listed, like me, you're screwed too.
blaguid @ Nov 20th 2007 11:23PM
@psp&dsFanboy, yes you are correct.
This is the way all PSN downloads work. Once you've purchased a game, you are free to delete it and redownload it later, no extra charge.
Sora57 @ Nov 20th 2007 11:58PM
The cookie theme is sweet! Sorry. Just had to do it.
jdoggg @ Nov 21st 2007 5:55AM
looks like we'll be getting a free download tomorrow!

Mike @ Nov 21st 2007 7:47AM
Nice feature but the download program is very slow...faster servers maybe ..I don't know.
LM2007 @ Nov 21st 2007 9:25AM
This store is just for PS3 owners??
Bobulous @ Nov 21st 2007 9:38AM
Cool. Finally Sony have put in place what they should have has on day one since the PSP launched. Now I have a question. How the hell do you download from the Store if you haven't got a PS3 OR a Windows PC? I've got a G5 iMac, so Windows isn't an option. Then there's all the folks with a version of Linux or BSD. The PSP has wireless internet built in - why can't Sony sort it so I can do everything via the PSP?
Alien @ Nov 21st 2007 9:53AM
Thank you Sony ... your my true hero at this point ... no other consolegaming for me for a good chunk of time :D
pixelator @ Nov 21st 2007 11:02AM
I agree, the PSP should be able to browse this, directly.
That said, and I know it sounds prickish (I use an iMac at work and have owned several iPods), but expecting a MacOS edition to launch with the PC downloader is naive -- expecting Linux or BSD (?!) editions is downright silly.
TheWarden @ Nov 21st 2007 11:24AM
The free game is PS1 WipeOut. A little disappointing since I can play two newer PSP WipeOuts.... but free is free.
Ian Charles @ Nov 21st 2007 12:40PM
No Mac support? F*** you sony.
retaeluos @ Nov 21st 2007 1:36PM
too bad those of us with macs are crap out of luck.
L @ Nov 23rd 2007 10:19PM
Man, the SOCOM: Tactical Strike demo is a HUGE file. I gotta delete some stuff in order to download it. How come the Syphfon Filter demo is only 56 MB and the SOCOM one is 419 MB? That's crazy. It better be a long-ass demo for that.
mallow @ Nov 22nd 2007 3:48AM
not only mac, but also linux users are discriminated :-( why SONY doesn`t want our money? ;-)
SeptimusHeap @ Nov 22nd 2007 2:18PM
Okay, umm.. Yeah. PSN downloader goes slow... but I can't wait to play socom tactical strike :D
(im also getting the cookie theme XD)
SeptimusHeap @ Nov 22nd 2007 2:22PM
ok, im worried. They need to up the speed on the PSN Downloader.. if this was DIRECT, my download would have been done by now :(..
(SONY + PSP = PWNAGE)
Mikerigel @ Nov 24th 2007 10:03AM
Great, I'm just waiting for them to release Wipeout 2097 and the first Rayman! Both would be awesome on the psp!!!
NdFaN1083 @ Nov 30th 2007 8:09AM
did anyone else get screwed with this? i downloaded the wipeout pure game, and it gives me an error message (0x80046104) can someone give me some help!?!?
Duffski @ Jan 19th 2008 12:00PM
Why is the UK version of the store always worse off in terms of downloads? We get fewer PS1 games and full downloadable new games (like Ape Quest)...
Why don't the three stores have identical stuff on offer?! Surely that would be simplest and fairest way to approach things?
I'm feeling very let down by Sony at the moment. Maybe if they paid more attention to the UK and US then sales would improve? And why don't we seem able to get the primo packaged games like Japan? And why should I have to buy from America if I want an official Slim & Lite case?
Sorry... rant over.
